Chapter 358: Chapter 332: Allen’s Allies_3

It’s no wonder Frodo changed so quickly, the moment he lost his power, his mind nearly collapsed.

The more fanatical he was before, the more terrified he became now.

He didn’t want to go to Hell, and if what Allen said was true, wouldn’t he be extremely sinful?

Just as Frodo was about to seek Allen’s help, his father Lorencos appeared. This paladin, with his hair graying, didn’t say a word, didn’t even comfort his emotionally devastated son, but drew his long sword directly at Allen.

The fight was much duller than imagined, with both legendary holy warriors merely letting their swords be coated with a faint Holy Light before beginning a pure martial skills competition.

Though both could summon towering pillars of Holy Light, they instead chose to conserve their strength.

Even so, their battle still left Frodo dizzy. He now realized, that even if he still had his strength, he wouldn’t last two seconds against Allen, the gap was just too large.

The elder and the younger fought for ten minutes until finally, Allen’s blade rested on Lorencos’ neck, and Lorencos’ sword was still half an inch from Allen’s chest.

Throwing down his sword in dejection, Lorencos said, "You’ve won."

Allen displayed no triumph, picking up Lorencos’ long sword and returning it to his hand.

"If it were a life-and-death struggle, even if I could slit your throat, you’d still have the strength to pierce my heart. Being slightly faster doesn’t really count as winning or losing."

Lorencos looked at Allen’s young face and couldn’t help asking, "What on earth did you come here to do?"

Allen said firmly, "I want to stop this war. When Laine invaded the Orc Kingdom, I wasn’t able to stop it and even became an accomplice. This time, I want to prevent Laine from invading Impure Chant."

Lorencos said disparagingly, "Just by yourself? You might defeat me, but can you take on Laine’s army?"

"Of course I can’t do it alone, which is why I’m here to look for allies. Senior, you didn’t notify the guards of Flow Flame City to capture me, so you must also want to join me, right? You’ve been observing us all night; you should be well aware of my position by now."

"All night? Father, you’ve been there the whole time?" Frodo was completely taken aback, never expecting that his father had been watching from the sidelines all along.

Lorencos sighed and said, "I’m your father, how could I not know what you’re thinking? I followed you within a second after you left the house. Frodo, I’ve led you into this mess. The curse on you is the result of my wrongdoing, a punishment from the Deity."

Frodo’s eyes widened in shock, never expecting his father to reveal such a frightening answer.

The curse of the Undead, a form of punishment?

Allen opened his mouth, looking a bit awkward. Although he didn’t know the details, he didn’t have to think twice to know that the curse must have come from Amberser, the lich who had been here. This sort of ploy was definitely within his means, no doubt about it!

Allen wanted to explain, but Lorencos had already begun his painful confession.

"Frodo, I’ve followed the general, committing too many killings. I can’t remember how many people died by my sword, whether they were innocent or guilty... I’ve repeatedly asked myself these questions, but I still vainly believed that wherever the Holy Light pointed, everything we did was just."

"But I was wrong. The curse you bear is the punishment for me, and also for you. You haven’t noticed, have you? Those who transformed into the Undead are the ones who directly participated in the slaughter, and those who didn’t participate remain unaffected."

Lorencos’ words silenced Allen, thinking, could it really be such a coincidence... or did the lich do it on purpose?

Uncertain, Allen no longer intended to pin the blame on Amberser. What if he wronged someone?

However, this seemed like a good thing.

Looking at Lorencos, who was crying bitterly, and then at Frodo, Allen thought, this ally had come a bit too quickly.
