Chapter 353: Chapter 330: The Raider from the Star Realm
Zariel had never thought that one day she would be threatened by a mortal, let alone that she could not just ignore it.
A lich capable of creating souls, Zariel had even tested the quality of these souls, which were solid enough to serve as hard currency in Hell. Should this news spread, other Lords of Hell would go mad over this lich.
Given Zariel’s temperament, she would curse Amberser fiercely and then send out her Hell Knights to hunt Amberser down to the ends of the earth.
But this time’s plan... Zariel glared at Amber angrily and left a sentence, "You will pay for your provocation sooner or later, but this time, you win, Lich!"
Amberser breathed a sigh of relief.
He was also just bluffing.
If he had a choice, Amberser would not have threatened a Grand Duke of Hell so rudely, even if Zariel was not the most powerful among the gods. But to mortals, she was still a lofty Deity.
Cutting off part of the souls of sinners would enrage all of Hell; within the Nine Layers of Hell, there were Lords mightier than Zariel, not to mention the fearsome Lord of the Nine Layers of Hell, Asmodeus.
Amberser had read about Asmodeus in books; any intelligent being hostile to him would face powerful mental hypnosis when confronting this Lord of Hell. If you couldn’t last, you’d become a servant of Asmodeus, and this hypnotic power was endless. Could you endure for one or two minutes, what about one or two hours?
Running away seemed to be a good choice, but it was rumored that Asmodeus’ body was so huge that two fingers could pinch a canyon. How wide would be the range of this hypnotic effect? Perhaps Amberser wouldn’t even manage to escape at supersonic speed before being controlled.
It was rumored that this was how Zariel had been hypnotized by Asmodeus, turning him from a holy Angel into a Hell Demon.
If he had a choice, Amberser would not want to offend this Lord of Hell.
Who knew whether those Lords of Hell would come to trade with him for the soul currency he had stolen or send out their heretics and monsters to hunt him down?
If Zariel wasn’t so obstinate, Amberser would definitely not have been so reckless.
Now that Zariel had relented, Amberser quickly changed his tone.
"Oh, I didn’t say I wouldn’t pay. I’m still willing to give the agreed-upon soul currency. It’s a win-win situation; there’s no need for us to hold grudges, right?"
Zariel felt she should slap him, as a slap without causing any noticeable injury wouldn’t break Aeo’s rules.
But she had already shown weakness, and to react with anger now would be too embarrassing.
Zariel said coldly, "You want to know about mine and Goddess Tiamat’s plan? I can tell you, you’re right, we need a Diviner Mage to help us complete a ceremony."
"What kind of ceremony?"
"Goddess Tiamat wishes to construct a Star Realm passage, and we need a Diviner Mage to calibrate the spatial interface for us."
"A Star Realm passage?"
Amberser didn’t react at first until the information about the Star Realm began to surface in his mind.
The so-called Star Realm was another Plane completely different from this world.
Parallel planes were no secret; each Divine Realm was an independent world. To broaden the definition a bit, Amberser’s personal space could also be considered a different plane, albeit a small one with everything inside placed there by Amber himself.
Each layer of the Nine Layers of Hell was an independent world, just very closely connected to each other.
There were many different terms for these worlds: Inner Planes, Outer Planes, Elemental Planes, Prime Material Planes, and so on.
And then there were the Outlands, The Sea of Chaos, and countless other terms. Throughout history, countless Mages had researched different planes, sacrificing their lives to discover the truths of the world. Their research wasn’t systematic; the writings Amberser had seen often had different perspectives on planes, some even contradictory.
Some say the universe is a tree with each branch a different world; others say the universe is a pyramid with the gods living above, Hell below, and Aeo at the pinnacle. Besides these, there are theories of a universe’s great wheel and scroll; essentially, even a Legendary Mage could only see a tiny corner of the whole universe.
But one thing was beyond doubt: the world Amberser lived in was part of the Prime Material Plane, not the entirety.
And the Star Realm, it could be understood as a special space enveloping the Prime Material Plane. To leave the Prime Material Plane for outside worlds, one would need to pass through the Star Realm.
Building a stable passage would require finding a weak point in space, and calculating this weak point would produce many ambiguous results, easily messing up and wasting effort.
Amberser thought initially these two Lords of Hell wanted to use the souls of these millions as fuel to build a spatial passage, perhaps even preparing for several failures.
But now, the Star Realm... A strange name suddenly sprang to Amberser’s mind.
Amberser said to Zariel in surprise, "The Star Realm... Are you planning to bring the Ghis Yankee army to this world?"
Zariel asked, "There are so many races in the Star Realm, how did you guess it’s the Ghis Yankee?"
"Do I even need to ask? The Ghis Yankee have a contract with Goddess Tiamat; their elites are the Red Dragon Knights! It’s only natural that Goddess Tiamat opens the Star Realm passage to send them to this Plane."
