This Lich Requests More Remuneration
Chapter 350 - 327: Supersonic Strike (Alliance Leader Bonus)

Chapter 350: Chapter 327: Supersonic Strike (Alliance Leader Bonus)

Facing Arthur Laine’s invitation, Amberser was truly astonished.

Invite a Lich to believe in the Lord of the Dawn, was there something wrong with your Heroic Spirit’s brain?

Any bit of the Force of the Holy Light could cause excruciating pain to the Undead; Amberser was Legendary and more resistant to damage, but that didn’t mean he was immune to pain. Other Undead would be purified within seconds of pain, while Amberser would suffer until the Holy Light’s power was completely depleted. This pain wouldn’t be lessened just because he was Legendary.

Believing in the Holy Light and getting tormented with every prayer, he wasn’t some masochist who worshiped Rowetta.

"Your Majesty, the Holy King, it is impossible for me to believe in the Holy Light, I am a Lich after all."

Yet Arthur Laine said eagerly, "But you can’t be so absolute about it. You haven’t tried, so how do you know it won’t work? Come, pray with me..."

Amberser gave Arthur Laine a knock on the back of his head, then moved a mechanical mirror out of a corner of his private space and set it before Arthur Laine.

"Your Majesty, this device enables long-distance communication, and I’ve already sent several to the Elf Tribe. If you’re bored, you can chat with your old friends. Stop thinking about the impossible, like Undead believing in the Holy Light."

After telling Arthur Laine the command to activate the Magic Mirror, Amberser left his private space.

Allen had disappeared without a trace, and who knew how he planned to give his speech and sway more Laine People.

Staying in Flow Flame City wasn’t an option; the Ironblood General claimed to be applying for funds from the Emperor of Laine, but in reality, he was probably seeking approval to disregard the pardon and take down Amberser.

The old fox, if Amberser had enough time, he would love to set a trap that would leave him destitute, but sadly, time was not on his side.

Taking advantage of the immunity item he still held, Amberser had to leave the city, collecting some strands of hair as he walked.

These soldiers in Flow Flame City were suffering serious hair loss; just walking where the soldiers patrolled, you could pick up dozens of strands.

Amberser began to suspect that his Destiny Weaving ability had enhanced, as it was meant to make only Rachel Angelo lose her hair, yet somehow it turned into the whole city losing their hair.

Amberser soon arrived at the city gate, preparing to leave under the cover of an illusion, when the Magic Badge in his hand shattered.

"Damn it!"

Amberser had just cursed when terrifying Holy Light descended from the sky, striking upon his head.

Laila’s True Illusion could deceive even Deity, but the prerequisite was not to carry a beacon with oneself.

Shael could see through illusions because Amberser learned from her Dark Web knowledge. Now, his location was exposed by the shattered Magic Badge, resulting in the long-brewing Holy Light blast in the city falling upon Amberser’s head.

He had guessed right; the old fox indeed sought to lift the pardon, but Amberser didn’t expect it to happen so fast.

Less than an hour, and the Emperor of Laine had replied? Could they be any more efficient?

With the Holy Light overhead, all Amberser could do was to summon his Golden Throne and extend a Magic Shield.

The powerful Holy Light impact instantly covered Amberser’s Magic Shield with cracks, but in that brief moment, Amberser activated his jet engines and crashed towards the city gate at supersonic speed.

As the Shield shattered, Amberser broke through the city gate and entered the gate tunnel.

The Holy Light from the sky wouldn’t damage the city walls of Flow Flame City, so it quickly dissipated, giving Amberser a slight relief.

But the gate tunnel wasn’t a blind spot from the Holy Light assault, and a second column of light would soon shoot up from the ground, not ceasing until Amberser was destroyed.

Therefore, Amberser could only maintain his supersonic flight and, as the second Holy Light shot out, he slightly shifted his body to dodge.

Thanks to the Legendary Ranger abilities shared by Katherine, and fortunately for Amberser that the Holy Light didn’t turn corners, he danced on the edge of death, dodging the Holy Light attacks time and again. Then he flew in a large circle, reaching three kilometers above Flow Flame City.

At this altitude, with the clouds blocking their view, the Holy Light of Flow Flame City couldn’t lock onto Amberser anymore.

Amberser looked down coldly at Flow Flame City below, mockingly saying, "Supersonic flight, haven’t seen it before, have you? I’ll give you a taste."

Opening his private space, Amberser pulled out a massive alchemical Airship.

This was a scrapped design from a previous attempt, now conveniently used for waste recycling.

The several-ton heavy alchemical Airship hovered in midair, as Amberser started stuffing it with alchemical bombs into the cabin.

These weren’t the yellow explosives from his past life, but the power was only slightly less, and the cost was certainly not cheap.

The cabin full of alchemical bombs plus the airship would cost 300,000 Gold Coins, but no matter, Amberser wasn’t short on money now!

After filling it with alchemical bombs, Amberser fitted several jet engines to the retired Airship’s rear end, another unstable solution that had been discarded.

"Perfect waste recycling, away you go, my Renaissance, show these Laine People the might of Alchemy!"

The jet engines ignited, and the Airship named Renaissance plummeted towards Flow Flame City below... no, it should be said to be falling.

The jet engines, helped by gravity, broke the sound barrier after the Airship fell hundreds of meters.

Thus, the massive roar and the Airship almost simultaneously reached Flow Flame City below.

This world had never seen such a terrifying attack; tons of mass falling at supersonic speed pierced the city’s magical defense, designed to withstand Magic Cannon shells, in an instant.

The airship exploded into a shower of fiery wreckage the moment it passed through the protective shield, transforming it into a blistering rain of fire.

These burning pieces of steel rained down, demolishing numerous houses and igniting a massive blaze in an instant.

Rachel Angelo was so taken aback by the explosion of the airship breaching the shield that he couldn’t react in time.

He had just realized that Amberser had fled, and the special arrest privilege he had worked so hard for was wasted without hesitation as he lifted Amberser’s immunity to Holy Light.

The city’s Holy Light defences were immediately activated, indicating that the Lich was still inside the city.

Rachel Angelo had hoped to destroy one of his bodies as a lesson to the Lich.

But how could he fly so fast? The moment it broke the sound barrier, Rachel Angelo felt as if his ears were buzzing from the shock.

What was that eerie white fog in front of him?

There was no time to ponder these questions. Shortly after Amberser had soared into the sky, a roaring sound came from above, followed by that terrifying bombardment.

Rachel Angelo didn’t even get a clear look at what was falling. Had the object flown slower, Flow Flame City might have had the chance to use the Holy Light to detonate it prematurely, but why did it fall so quickly?

The sea of fire spread, and the armory and granaries that Allen had intended to destroy were also affected, burning completely.

Rachel Angelo had no choice but to immediately order the firefighting, but at that moment, another Paladin beside him let out a painful wail as his body suddenly began to undeadify.

What’s more, it was his neck that started to turn Undead first.

The color of death spread upwards from his neck, soon covering most of his face. His mouth began to open and close involuntarily, and foul saliva started to dribble out.

Rachel Angelo cried out in sorrow, "Phil!"

But this time, Phil couldn’t wait for the Time Stop scroll to take effect; he was already stumbling towards Rachel Angelo.

A beam of Holy Light shone above Phil’s head, turning the newly transformed Undead into ashes.

Rachel Angelo angrily threw a punch, and the powerful Holy Light smashed a wall in the distance to pieces.

"Damn Lich, I will make you pay in blood for this debt!"

Rachel Angelo had already decided that, regardless of whether Amberser admitted to it or not, he would pin the blame for his subordinates turning into Undead on him!

However, this matter must also be reported to superiors.

This unpredictable Undeath, with its massive impact on morale, was far more terrifying than the current inferno.

Rachel Angelo quickly calmed down, methodically organized the firefighting, and then wrote to the Imperial Capital at the fastest speed, reporting the incident.

In his letter, Rachel Angelo mentioned that to avoid a large-scale occurrence of the Undead Curse in war, he requested the Emperor of Laine use the Magic Dragon Armament to protect his soldiers.

High above in the sky, Amberser looked down at Flow Flame City, which had become a semi-sea of fire, and said with a smile, "It truly lives up to its name now, doesn’t it? How could it be called Flow Flame City without a burn?"

Spending hundreds of thousands of Gold Coins felt good, but Amberser knew it was futile, as Laine would still attack the Kingdom of Impure Hymns in a month and a half.

However, this visit wasn’t entirely fruitless.

At least he had learned about the approximate military strength of Laine and knew that the Magic Dragon Armament wasn’t initially part of their plan.

Perhaps today’s surprise compelled the Emperor of Laine to bring the Magic Dragon Armament to the frontline.

With that, Rachel Angelo might be considered incompetent by the emperor. If there is the slightest conflict, their cooperation could go awry, and the battle may still be fought.

The precondition is that Mr. Misfortune can solve the Devil’s pact with the Kingdom of Impure Hymns.

Whether it’s the whole nation falling into Hell or most of the nobility, it would be a catastrophic blow to the Kingdom of Impure Hymns.

But Amberser himself couldn’t think of any solution. What’s already happened cannot be undone, even if you reverse time to stop it. Under the control of the Goddess of Fate, going back won’t cause a paradox and won’t affect what has already happened.

Amberser found a random spot and entered a private space, then contacted Mr. Misfortune through the Magic Mirror.

In just half a day’s time without seeing each other, Amberser noticed that Mr. Misfortune’s wrinkles had deepened, and his overall vitality had become very weak.

"Uradimir, what have you done?" Amberser asked.

Mr. Misfortune smiled and said, "Just what needed to be done. Don’t worry, the kingdom is saved. I will cut off all the bad futures, ensuring the survival of the Kingdom of Impure Hymns."

Amberser wasn’t pleased at all and just calmly said, "You know you can’t do it, even if you and I join forces, we can’t eliminate all possibilities of the kingdom’s doom."

Mr. Misfortune said excitedly, "Yes, mortals can’t achieve such a grand feat, but Deities can. I have prayed to a Deity and received a response."

Amberser grew even more worried and said to Mr. Misfortune, "The Goddess of Fate doesn’t respond to anyone’s prayers. Uradimir, the Deity you speak of, who is it?"

Mr. Misfortune was silent for a long time, then said, "It’s Zariel. I offered myself as the price, and in return, I secured the souls of two million Tiflins. Although there will still be tens of thousands of nobles falling into Hell, I have preserved the key military leaders. I will use all my power to reverse the doomed outcome. I will fall into Hell in exchange for a glimmer of hope for this kingdom."
