Chapter 341: Chapter 318: Amber Xiu’s Trump Card
The vast Gloomyland has a huge population, not even counting the undead.
Such a vast power of faith, it would be a pity to ignore it.
Amberser had thought about making good use of this power of faith, but his teacher, the God of Alchemy, is a Concept God who isn’t particularly interested in the power of faith.
When others chant "Praise the God of Alchemy," it isn’t about providing him with faith, but rather changing the concept of Alchemy in people’s hearts.
The deeper this image is embedded in people’s hearts, the wider the coverage of Alchemy, and the stronger the God of Alchemy would become.
So it doesn’t matter whether people believe or not; as long as they acknowledge Alchemy, that’s enough. Therefore, Amberser never thought about forcing others to praise the God of Alchemy, as doing so would tarnish the reputation of Alchemy. Just like the mess Alchemy City had created, it could even damage the divine power of the God of Alchemy.
But just because the God of Alchemy has no use for it, it doesn’t mean others couldn’t use it.
Amberser’s Golden Throne could already convert the power of faith into gold, but the efficiency was too low, and it was completely wasted on Amberser.
Laila, on the other hand, was in her weakest state, and when She was the Hikikomori Goddess, She had many followers, making the power of faith much more useful to Her.
A Goddess who is willing to sleep with you should be trustworthy.
After much thought, this was the only way to quickly increase Laila’s power.
Withered Rose wouldn’t mind having one more Deity that could truly be trusted, especially since her goal was so challenging that the average Deity couldn’t be bothered to respond.
Amberser taught Withered Rose how to operate the Magic Mirror and left the two ladies to discuss it among themselves.
How to convert the Subterranean Dwarves, Gnomes, Fungus Folk, and Drow Elves to a new faith was no easy task. Amberser wasn’t very knowledgeable about the means of spreading faith, so he didn’t interfere.
Amberser went straight to the Sacrificial Altar of the royal city.
He had thought about finding Melina to help him prepare the offerings, but as soon as he arrived, the Summoning Matrix had already started to operate.
Melina said happily, "Father, everything is ready, we can start the summoning ritual at any time."
Amberser couldn’t help but feel touched that Withered Rose was really good to him, preparing everything without him having to ask.
The Summoning Matrix began to emit light, flesh, souls, resentment, and the innate betrayal trait of the Drow Elves, all of which were Shael’s favorite things, allowing Her to create a few more "Night Judges" to work for herself.
The black mist spread out, transforming into the shape of Shael once again.
As soon as the Goddess saw Amberser, She said angrily, "What do you want to do again?! Damn Lich!"
Amberser: ...
This Goddess, She really misunderstands me deeply.
Melina was also surprised. This was the Dark Goddess, a very famous and renowned figure, yet She lost her composure at the sight of her father? She didn’t look like a Deity at all.
Amberser hurriedly said, "Goddess, don’t be so agitated, our previous transaction was quite pleasant, wasn’t it? I have never deceived you, so there’s no need to be so angry."
Shael said angrily, "Your mouth is coated with honeyed poison, stop moving your sly tongue!"
With an innocent face, Amberser said, "Goddess, Liches have no tongues. Every word I speak resonates with my soul, showing my true heart."
Shael was so angered by him that her head seemed to swell. If possible, She really wanted to bite this Lich to death.
"If you summoned me for a reason, just say it. Any more nonsense and I’ll leave immediately; I’d rather not have those offerings."
Melina was completely baffled now. Shael’s attitude was resolute; She was clearly afraid of giving Amberser any excuse to trouble Her. Was her father really scary enough to frighten a Deity? That was too ridiculous.
Amberser dared not argue with Shael any longer and quickly stated his purpose.
Amberser asked, "The Evil Dragon Goddess has a big plan in the Kingdom of Impure Hymns that seems to be about to be put into action soon. Do you know the details of this plan?"
"I don’t know," Shael responded definitively, emphasizing, "My relationship with Tiamat isn’t that good; we’re not friends who share everything."
"Ah, so there’s really not even a whisper about it?" asked Amberser.
Shael chuckled and said, "There is. How about I have Tiamat herself tell you? I can invite Her to come down and have a chat with you."
Shael thought this would scare Amberser, but she couldn’t have imagined that Amberser would actually reply, "Sure, let’s have the Evil Dragon Goddess come for a chat."
Shael was taken aback and asked hurriedly, "Do you not realize what you’ve done? Tiamat’s Chosen of God was defeated by you and was given to me, and now you also want to disrupt another of Her plans, and you dare to talk to Her face-to-face?"
Amberser replied nonchalantly, "What is there to fear, She can’t just kill me outright."
He was currently in the guise of a mortal, and besides, weren’t the Elven Gods supposed to protect him from harm by Tiamat? With such a huge shield to hide behind, it was time to draw as much enmity as possible. Otherwise, it would be a major loss.
Shael felt she would never understand Amberser, this Lich. She had never seen such an outrageous mortal.
"Fine, you chose this yourself; I’ll consider your wish granted."
Shael swallowed all the offerings in one gulp and then vanished from sight.
However, the glow from the summoning matrix persisted, indicating the summoning had not yet ended.
After a good while, a fierce blaze ignited above the summoning matrix, lighting the entire sacrificial altar in red, making even Amberser feel a wave of scorching heat.
Amberser recognized immediately that it was hellfire from Hell.
This type of flame was not only extremely hot but also highly corrosive, capable of causing damage to the soul.
Such resplendent might was indeed in keeping with the image of the Evil Dragon Goddess.
Just as Amberser thought a dragon with five heads would emerge from the flames, a pair of enormous wings made of fire unfolded, revealing a face that was breathtakingly beautiful yet fragmented.
Isn’t that Zariel?
The damn Goddess Shael, couldn’t she summon the right person even once?!
Before Zariel could speak, Amberser quickly lowered his head and said respectfully, "Most revered Duke Avernus, I did not expect to meet you here. I am unprepared with a gift for our meeting, please forgive me."
Zariel’s towering figure, composed of flames, gradually shrank and became about the same size as Amberser, then stepped down from the altar and approached Amberser.
Zariel said to Amberser, "Lich, I have heard your name many times."
Amberser quickly replied, "That is my honor."
Zariel laughed and said, "But it is not a good reputation. According to Tiamat, you are the most cunning and deceitful being in the Mortal Realm; even the Prince of Lies should abdicate his deity position to you. To Shael, you are the boldest blasphemer, never showing reverence to deities, your words are poison that can even corrode our own divinity."
"Misunderstandings, all misunderstandings. Mortals cannot fathom the thoughts of deities; naturally, it is easy to have communication problems. But I believe that with more time spent together, all will understand that I am the most fair-minded mortal."
Zariel, looking at the lich before her, felt nostalgic and said, "Shael is not wrong, mortal, you have no fear in your heart. But I am pleased, for I like people like you. I, too, ventured into Hell without fear, and if not for betrayal, I wouldn’t have turned into what I am now. I admire warriors, I admire those who truly are fearless.
"Lich, are you interested in becoming a knight under my command? I assume you are not bound by the moral constraints of the living. Serve as my knight, help bring this Mortal Realm under Hell’s domain, and you will get everything you desire."
Without a second thought, Amberser replied, "I appreciate your favor, but I must decline. I am a lich, and we liches have our own deities to follow."
"You mean the Self-Proclaimed? Heh, wouldn’t he be aware of your situation, you don’t really believe in him. Otherwise, why would Vishalon, the guardian deity of evil liches, neglect you?"
Zariel unhesitatingly exposed Amberser’s lie, then continued, "However, since you’ve refused, I won’t invite you a second time. Lich, you wanted to know about mine and Tiamat’s plans, didn’t you? I’ll give you the opportunity."
Zariel drew her long sword composed of flames from her waist and thrust it powerfully into the ground.
Endless hellfire surged forth, transforming into a five-meter-tall flame giant.
"You should know my preferences well. I fancy warriors, I favor powerful fighters. Defeat this flame giant and I will tell you everything you wish to know."
After Zariel said this, she pressed half of her fiery wing on the flame giant.
In the next second, the flame giant charged towards Amberser, turning into a blur.
The power of a legendary game allowed Amberser to react in time, dodging smoothly with the Traceless Step.
Wherever the flame giant went, it left behind patches of hellfire. Its huge fist smashed into the ground, not only cracking it wide open but also creating an enormous lava pit.
Had that punch landed, Amberser’s bones would have turned to ash instantly.
Amberser didn’t take the opportunity to counterattack but instead asked Zariel, "Most revered Duke Avernus, am I permitted to use any means necessary?"
Zariel, with only half a wing remaining, nodded and said, "Of course, I know you have many tricks up your sleeve, and I look forward to seeing them."
"Thank you very much. If any means are allowed... Melina, make your move!"
At Amberser’s loud beckoning, Melina summoned her Whispering Warhorse and a huge anti-magic barrier unfolded, enveloping the flame giant.
The brilliant flames instantly diminished greatly, revealing the fiery red rock of its body.
Zariel hadn’t expected Melina to possess such ability—such an extensive anti-magic barrier? This effect was beyond that of an anti-magic field; this was a higher tier of magical confinement.
The giant summoned by Zariel had to be constrained by what the Mortal Realm could withstand, so it was naturally affected by the anti-magic solution as well.
Zariel commended, "Impressive tactic, but do you really think you’ve won?"
The rock giant, its flames nearly extinguished, hadn’t completely lost momentum and continued to charge at Amberser, though much slower this time.
Within the range of the anti-magic barrier, Amberser was also unable to cast spells, and facing the obviously powerful rock giant, he resorted to the same strategy as before.
"Melina!"
As Amberser shouted, Melina’s Knight Lance was already jabbing at the giant’s foot, the tremendous impact knocking the immensely heavy creature off balance.
Physical combat, of course, should be left to Melina, the Death Knight.
