Chapter 327: Chapter 304: Another Deity as Support

The Dark Clergy, while sounding formidable, was so scorned by Goddess Shael that she chose the Corrupt Divine Position instead.

It indicates just how weak this deity position is, amounting to mere scraps picked from a grand theme and then self-proclaimed as "darkness."

In actuality, it could simply be an inconspicuous speck of paint on a canvas.

Such a deity position, when merged with a mortal, indeed grants instant divinity, even if the divine power is minimal; this is a qualitative change.

However, trying to sell it to a deity is a bit embarrassing.

It’s not just a matter of weakness; the origins of this position are somewhat problematic, and merging with it could cause trouble.

The deities who aren’t afraid of trouble are powerful and look down on such a weak deity position, while weaker deities might want it but can’t afford the trouble it brings.

Therefore, selling this thing for a good price becomes quite difficult.

And concerning matters of deities, Amberser could only consult the God of Alchemy.

This deity was always at the ready; as soon as Amberser took out a Gold Coin and called, the God of Alchemy appeared in high spirits.

Upon arrival, the God of Alchemy proudly said, "How did you know my divine power has recovered and even grown stronger than before?"

Amberser wanted to retort with "like father, like son," but, reminding himself that he was the one seeking help, he restrained himself and just chuckled dismissively.

"Now that your divine power has recovered, does that mean you can give me the blessing you owe me?"

Amberser still remembered the God of Alchemy mentioning a blessing for him last time, only for the deity to awkwardly admit, "A small miscalculation; I thought this recovery would allow me to grant you a special blessing but..."

"You can’t be serious?!" Amberser exclaimed, agitated. He could tolerate the old man scooping up a deity position, but now he might also renege on a blessing?!

"Don’t panic. It’s not a blessing, but I think this will be even more useful to you."

The God of Alchemy drew a circle with his hands, and a huge Full Body Mirror appeared before Amberser.

Amberser examined it carefully. On the back of the mirror was a dense array of Gears and a Mana Power Furnace; he couldn’t immediately tell what it was good for.

"What’s this thing?" Amberser asked.

The God of Alchemy explained, "I had prepared to research a Divine Artifact that could search anywhere at will to find you. Just as I completed this device, I found you."

"That powerful?!"

Amberser was startled. If this mirror could actually view any location at will, it would be a super Divine Artifact, far more potent than any blessing.

"Don’t get your hopes up. This mirror can only exercise its full power within my Divine Realm. The Mortal Realm cannot provide the vast Divine Power needed to support it, so you won’t be able to spy on the Elf Queen bathing."

"Why would I want to see that?" Amberser retorted.

"Would looking into someone else’s treasury be more interesting?"

Not wanting to argue about such trivial matters, Amberser pressed on, "So what use is it now?"

"I’ll give you the simplified blueprints. Anyone can produce it using Alchemy, and different mirrors can communicate directly with each other. You can see the other party’s situation on the mirror surface and have voice communication. Of course, I have also included ports to install a small Teleportation Circle and a Memory Crystal. You can teleport small items on site or record the conversation."

"My god, video calls plus online shopping?!" Amberser was shocked anew.

As a transmigrator, Amberser had always thought of using the knowledge from his previous life to change the world and make a fortune. Knowing there was no such thing as instant remote communication technology in this world, Amberser had considered creating a telegraph system.

But he soon realized that the omnipresent Magic Power in this world made radio waves virtually non-travelable. Even if they were somehow received, they’d be severely interfered with, making communication impossible.

Laying cables for a landline telephone wasn’t out of the question, but rubber wasn’t mass-produced, and Amberser had even failed to find many rubber trees. The Magipuppet Automatons manufactured by Alchemy City used a very high-cost gel to achieve cushioning and insulation, making the cost of laying cables far too terrifying.

Plus, this feudal society wasn’t conducive to long-distance electricity transmission, so Amberser didn’t pursue research in this direction.

Now, this mirror can actually achieve long-distance communication wirelessly?

"How much does this mirror cost?" Amberser asked.

The God of Alchemy replied, "How would I know the prices in the Mortal Realm? I’ll give you the blueprint, and you can figure it out yourself."

Amberser repeatedly recalled his past calculations, estimating that if the production cost of a mirror could be kept below twenty thousand Gold Coins and the maintenance and operation costs could stay under three hundred Gold Coins per month, it could have a good market.

But, when he saw the blueprint, he said in shock, "This... this structure is so simple? The cost can’t be more than two hundred Gold Coins!"

Amberser couldn’t imagine how this made any sense.

The God of Alchemy explained, "This alchemy device includes rule effects; it’s as though I have blessed the device. Furthermore, I use my own Divine Realm as a transfer station to maintain the operation of this device, so the cost is very low. However, should there be any changes in the alchemy laws, the performance of this device could be affected."

Amberser then understood. Divine Power, it could explain anything.

Amberser began to calculate the potential impact of this device on the world and quickly thought of many ways to promote and use it.

Only then did Amberser remember that he hadn’t approached the God of Alchemy for this and couldn’t help saying, "You’ve thrown me off, I was actually planning to ask you who I should sell the Dark Clergy to. Do you have any generous friends among the Deities?"

The God of Alchemy chuckled and said, "I have many friends, but none you can swindle. You don’t expect the Master of Knowledge to buy that Deity Position from you, do you?"

It then occurred to Amberser that the God of Alchemy had a good relationship with the Master of Knowledge. While alchemists were desecrating the Divine, the Master of Knowledge could have wiped out all the Alchemists with a slap, but he allowed Alchemy a glimmer of survival out of respect for the God of Alchemy.

However, it was impossible to expect him to buy a Deity Position. He was a powerful divine force who would never care for such trivial things. Moreover, the Master of Knowledge was famously neutral and wouldn’t get involved in an event that clearly related to Divine strife.

"So, what should I do? I can’t just be left holding it."

Amberser hadn’t expected that even a valuable Deity Position could have trouble selling.

"I remember you have several Demigod friends; why not try them?" The God of Alchemy suggested.

Amberser shook his head, "They don’t need it."

In the Elegy Poetry Society, only three matched the Deity Position: the Poet, Aige, and the senior Ghoul, Yugas, but all three had expressly stated they had no intention of merging with someone else’s Deity Position.

The Poet had no need for it; his state was unique, hovering between Deity and mortal, yet not a Demigod, so a Deity Position was unnecessary for him.

Aige declared that she must achieve divinity on her own to catch Aeo’s attention, which might give her the slightest chance of resurrecting her father. Merging with a Deity Position would mean a lifetime of weak divine power, something Aeo wouldn’t glance at even once.

Yugas felt the same; he was not far from divinity himself, perhaps lying in wait for a few hundred years would achieve it, so there was no need to merge with an unwanted, discarded Deity Position.

Amberser even considered selling it to the president of the Elegy Poetry Society, but unfortunately, the old predecessor completely ignored him, without replying a single word.

As Amberser was feeling troubled, a sudden inspiration struck, "Wait, there actually might be someone who could use it. Teacher, what would be the result if a deity who has lost their Deity Position and fallen were to merge with one that isn’t theirs?"

"A fallen deity?" The God of Alchemy seemed puzzled by Amberser’s question but soon came up with an answer: "That would be a rebirth for the deity. Unlike your mortals forcibly becoming deities, a fallen deity originally achieved divinity on their own, so merging with a new Deity Position wouldn’t restrict their potential for progress. It would be much better for them than for mortals."

Amberser excitedly said, "Then I know who to sell it to... no, I mean to give it to."

The Lady of Mist, she was the most suitable candidate.

Amberser had met her in the Emerald Dream Forest, promising to help her deal with the Prince of Lies, though at the time, it was just lip service without any concrete ideas on how to assist. After all, she was a powerful divine force.

But now, if he could help the Lady of Mist become a true deity again, wouldn’t Amberser then have two undeniably dependable divine pillars of support?

And although the Lady of Mist had fallen, her connections remained. She might even manage to bring a host of deities on board, like the powerful Magic Goddess, for instance.
