Chapter 316: Chapter 294: News About the Magic Dragon

The safety of the airship indeed posed a great problem, as it disintegrated faster than Amberser had anticipated.

There was no helping it; the materials were subpar, and the design was unsatisfactory.

Even though he could copy the shape of his previous life’s aircraft, the various details inside still required Amberser to undertake fresh research.

But regardless of whether Katherine agreed or not, he must engage in this business and must have the Drow Elves do this job.

With an absolute advantage in connections, Amberser could turn this industry into one with both a background and technological monopoly, plus a group of Drow Elves who did not require wages - it would be foolish not to make money here.

What, the Drow Elves dare to ask for wages? Then just send them to Gloomyland for labor reformation.

A bunch of criminals, given the chance to turn over a new leaf yet still being picky, they might as well not live at all.

Having lost the airship, Amberser did not build a second one but instead summoned Naomi, asking her to transform into a Giant Dragon and take him home.

Both Melina and Amberser rode on the dragon’s back, while Katherine summoned her own Giant Eagle, and in this manner, they flew back to Amberser’s desert factory.

It had been a while since Katherine had left, and upon seeing the Underground City utterly transformed, she remarked with emotion, "You’ve really turned this place into an Alchemy Factory."

"Of course, I am not like you who can eat well and drink well without daring to do anything and have an entire kingdom to support you. Every penny I earn here is by my own efforts."

However, Katherine countered, "Does a Lich like you still need to eat and drink? Just lying on the ground, you would have zero consumption for a hundred years; isn’t what you’re doing purely out of your own greed?"

Amberser was not angered by Katherine’s words but instead responded cheerfully, "Not bad at all, you’ve really progressed. The work I have planned for you next should not be difficult."

Katherine looked at Amberser warily; this Lich was up to no good again.

Amberser led Katherine to his library, where he picked out over a dozen exceedingly thick books from the shelves and placed them all before Katherine.

After glancing at the titles, Katherine asked in confusion, "These are historical texts? What do you want me to do with these?"

Amberser explained, "Of course, I want you to read them. These books not only chronicle the history after the Magic Dragon Tyrant but also include many contents about ancient dynasties. Study them well. Not only do you need to read them, but you also need to take notes on your own, compiling the biographies of all the rulers through the ages, and contemplate their actions thoroughly, categorizing them as good or bad. Analyze the reasons for the downfall of each kingdom and come find me when you’re done."

This time, Katherine understood that Amberser was asking her to learn from historical experiences and then learn how to be a good monarch.

But Katherine smiled slightly and pointed to the first book, saying, "This is the history of the Gor Kingdom from five thousand seven hundred years ago. The first monarch was born in the desert, an orphan since childhood..."

Katherine talked non-stop, recounting the book’s content entirely.

Amberser opened the book and saw her account was word perfect.

"You’ve read this book?"

"Not just this one; I’ve read all the books here, and the Silvermoon Tribunal has even more detailed versions. Did you really think I know nothing? I’ve lived for hundreds of years; I may have read more books than you."

Seeing Katherine’s smug appearance, Amberser realized he had underestimated this Elf girl.

She wasn’t lacking in reading; she was genuinely naive.

"Alright then, let’s skip over this basic stage."

Amberser took out the Necromancy Codex and sent a message to Withered Rose: [Last time you mentioned you’d send me some Drow Elves, is it convenient now? Could you send me ten?]

Withered Rose replied promptly: [I’ll give you twenty Drow Elf beauties. Open up the Teleportation Circle.]

One must admit, the Undead Queen was truly generous; these Drow Elves, if sold as slaves, would fetch an exceptionally high price, even costlier than the High Elves.

Twenty Drow Elf beauties would be worth several hundred thousand Gold Coins.

Before long, the Teleportation Circle buzzed into life as a group of dark-skinned Elf maidens appeared. Each one of them was a top-notch beauty, with looks and figures of the highest caliber.

However, each of their foreheads bore a distinct mark.

Amberser recognized at once that this was a unique tactic of the Undead; the souls of these Drow Elves had been branded by Withered Rose, rendering them utterly incapable of rebellion.

Amberser brought the twenty Drow Elf beauties to Katherine and said, "Since you know the life stories of so many rulers, use your knowledge to make these twenty Drow Elves your own people."

Katherine hadn’t expected Amberser to get to the point so quickly, but she wasn’t afraid; on the contrary, she was eager to try.

Reintegrating the Drow Elves into the Elf Tribe was the greatest endeavor; Katherine would go all out to do her best.

However, Katherine was unaware that during the inspection and acceptance process, Amberser had used his own power to erase the branding from the souls of five Drow Elves.

In other words, these five Drow Elves had gained their freedom.

Watching Katherine’s eager behavior, Amberser thought to himself that if this girl could detect a problem with one of the Drow Elves, then she would have passed the test.

While Katherine was busy interacting sincerely with these new sisters, Amberser hurriedly took Melina to Gloomyland without stopping.

Being unable to teleport due to carrying divine offices, they had no choice but to go on foot.

Luckily, there was a passageway through the desert leading directly to Gloomyland. Amberser and Melina set off together and after two days, they finally returned to Mercury City.

When Melina handed that fingertip-sized box to Withered Rose, the Queen did not take more than a glance at it, instead fixing her gaze on Amberser and saying, "There’s something I just found out that we need to talk about."

Seeing the expression on Withered Rose’s face, Amberser asked in surprise, "What’s happened?"

"Some time ago, Laine held a celebration ceremony."

Amberser calculated the time and then said, "Oh, Arthur Laine’s birthday, right? That’s also the founding day of Laine, the most important day of the year."

"Exactly, this ceremony was no different from the previous ones, but this time something was off. That Young Emperor, he wore the Magic Dragon Armament."

Withered Rose spoke with a heavy tone, her body trembling slightly.

Amberser was also shocked and pressed for details, "When you say he ’wore’ it, you don’t mean just putting it on, do you? Was he able to wield the power of the Magic Dragon Armament?"

"Yes, at the ceremony, he used the power of the Magic Dragon Armament to turn back time, making all the attendees one year younger."

"Seriously?"

Amberser knew the Magic Dragon Armament was powerful, but the people of Laine present at the ceremony numbered in the millions. To reverse time for all of these people, making them one year younger? That was a miracle, indistinguishable from the power of the deities.

Amberser knew this Divine Artifact was extremely powerful; otherwise, it wouldn’t be considered the national treasure of Laine, but this was a little too preposterous.

Such power, if falling into Amberser’s hands, could turn him into nothingness, right?

"Didn’t you say that the Royal Family’s bloodline had become very diluted and could no longer use the Magic Dragon Armament?" Amberser asked hastily.

Withered Rose replied between clenched teeth, "I don’t know; something must have happened that I’m unaware of, something the old Zombies underground might have done."

"Old Zombies? What’s that?"

"A group of aged individuals from the Laine Family, belonging to the Royal Elders, who have chosen to extend their lives by hibernating; some can live up to two hundred years this way. The trade-off is that they spend most of their time lying in coffin-like boxes. We refer to them as zombies."

"These old Zombies usually don’t do much, but at critical moments, they’ll wake up from their boxes, and their decisions will impact the entirety of Laine."

Amberser chuckled, "They are quite traditional, opting for this rather than using the Youth Magic Potion."

"That’s about the only good thing one can say about them. These old Zombies are not good people; everything they think about is for the continuation of the Laine Royal Family. It’s exactly these old folks who have taken the Royals’ pursuit of pure bloodlines to a pathological level."

Amberser agreed with Withered Rose’s opinion; it was probably the influence of the Magic Dragon’s bloodline that radicalized their thinking, leading to the current tumult in Laine.

But now was not the time to ponder this issue. No matter how they managed to do it, now that the Magic Dragon Armament was operational, it posed an even greater threat than the Silvermoon Knights.

Seeing how agitated Withered Rose was, Amberser quickly consoled her, "I’ll look into this matter, and I reckon James Watson, that old man, will have some information. We don’t need to panic. Laine’s division is a foregone conclusion. Whether we wait three more years, ten years, or fifty years, we can afford to wait. Eventually, the Magic Dragon Armament will have to face not us, but the other Laine People."

Withered Rose couldn’t help but lean on Amberser’s shoulder, whispering softly, "Thank you, I’m glad you’re here."

Under the weight of her obsessions, Withered Rose had nearly lost her sanity just moments before.

The restoration of the Magic Dragon Armament signified the invincibility of Laine; just thinking about it filled Withered Rose’s soul with anger and fear.

Had it not been for Amberser’s comforting words providing her with a glimmer of hope, she might have truly gone mad, making a devastatingly foolish decision.

Her judgment was indeed not wrong; Amberser was someone worthy of entrusting everything to. With his help, the destruction of Laine was certain to be successful.

Knowing the issue was a matter of obsession and that Withered Rose could not stay calm, Amberser tactfully changed the subject, "This is a corrupted divine office; which Deity do you plan to trade with?"

Withered Rose calmed down a bit and said to Amberser, "The Dark Goddess Shael, what do you think?"
