Chapter 270: Chapter 251: The Daughter is Depressed

Fungus Folk, these are intelligent beings unique to Gloomyland.

They have humanoid appearances, but they are essentially giant mushrooms. Their habits are similar to mushrooms as well; they can sustain life with just water and soil.

But the reproduction of the Fungus Folk is not easy, it’s not a matter of simply parasitizing a piece of wood to grow little mushrooms.

Fungus Folk prefer to plant their spores on animal corpses, as their offspring grow faster and healthier this way.

Fungus Folk possess an intelligence comparable to humans, and their racial abilities are quite distinctive, but they are also very dangerous beings, naturally hostile to most non-Fungus Folk species. However, they generally do not stray far from their tribes and rarely hunt actively, so as long as you don’t provoke them, you are unlikely to be attacked.

The above is information about the Fungus Folk that Amberser read from books.

But there are many types of Fungus Folk?

Amberser considered himself quite learned, but he didn’t expect to be ignorant of such fundamental things. Indeed, learning should never cease.

Amberser was preparing to thoroughly consult Withered Rose, but saw her reply with another message, "Our daughter has encountered some problems recently, so, come to Gloomyland, I will bring those Fungus Folk over for you to study at leisure, and you can have a chat with Melina."

Amberser was taken aback, no way, it has only been a few days, and the soul he crafted had problems?

That seemed unlikely, as Amberser had created so many Pseudo-Souls and hadn’t seen any issues.

[Diga Ultraman: What’s wrong with Melina?]

[Withered Rose: In the language of the living, she might be depressed.]

Amberser: ...

How can the Undead be depressed?

Amberser had only seen insane Undead; he had never encountered depressed ones.

Even if it was touching the bottom line of the Undead, like when Amberser lost his Gold Coin, they would just want to destroy the world, not hide at home and resent themselves.

This problem seemed very serious; the Pseudo-Soul he created actually had such hidden defects?

[Diga Ultraman: Okay, I’ll rush over through the Teleportation Circle.]

Perhaps there was a bug in the weaving of the relevant abilities, or maybe there were issues with the ingredients... Amberser was creating such a powerful soul for the first time, and it’s possible that an operational error had caused flaws in the soul.

This was his livelihood at stake, so Amberser did not dare to be the slightest bit negligent, thinking of many possibilities in his mind.

With a heart full of unease, Amberser stood on the Teleportation Circle.

With a flash of light, Amberser was transported from the dim Underground City to an even darker place.

Gloomy, damp, and tight... Just by sensing the space around him, Amberser felt oppressed and terrified. This is Gloomyland, an underground world without sunlight that is far more cruel and venomous than the world bathed in the sun’s rays.

The Teleportation Circle seemed to be constructed within a huge cavern, and as soon as Amberser appeared, a dozen ghostly fires appeared in the darkness.

They were a group of towering Death Knights, dragging a huge Silver Chariot toward Amberser.

The chariot was almost the size of a house, made entirely of silver, adorned with exquisite skeletal and Black Rose patterns.

The Death Knights knelt before Amberser in uniform, respectfully inviting him to get aboard.

Amberser was quite pleased with such a spectacle and floated into the chariot.

A wave of dark energy hit him, isolating the dampness outside and providing an exceptionally enjoyable experience for Amberser. The chariot was not only beautiful, but it was also designed with many types of Magic Arrays that focused magic power, making Amberser feel that his own magic flowed more smoothly.

Furthermore, there were several beautiful Drow Elves on the chariot, who enthusiastically came up to him when they saw Amberser, helping him to take off his old Magic Robes and carefully put on another set of magnificent Mage’s robes. These were enchanted high-quality goods, much better than what Amberser himself was wearing.

Being attended by beauties for a clothing change, Amberser felt nothing.

After all, they were all Undead and no longer possessed such worldly desires.

But then they poured Amberser a full cup of a bright red liquid. Amberser was about to say it didn’t matter what the Undead drank but realized upon sensing it that the beverage was specially prepared for the Undead.

With one gulp, the crimson liquid quickly dissolved, merging into Amberser’s entire skeletal frame.

The brittle bones began to regenerate, becoming dense and lustrous, as if they had just been removed from a human body.

The Soul too sensed the taste of the beverage, like a fragrant and rich vintage wine, evoking in Amberser the sensation of the first time he tasted wine many years ago.

"Great wine!"

The century-old fine wine I had seen at sea was designed to make people drunk by harming the soul, but the wine sent by Withered Rose was not only delicious but also greatly beneficial to the undead.

Amberser couldn’t help but be impressed; it was indeed fitting for the Queen of Gloomyland, such high-class enjoyment. That last sip alone must have cost at least a hundred thousand Gold Coins.

As the Silver Chariot proceeded, Amberser felt not the slightest jolt, lying on the velvet recliner, so comfortable he wanted to fall asleep.

However, the pleasant moments always flew by too quickly; before Amberser could fall asleep, the carriage stopped in front of a grand palace.

Amberser alighted from the carriage and walked into the palace, led by a Phantom Maid.

This maid was also a High-order Undead, her originally ethereal transparent body almost as solid as a real person, probably not far from Legendary status.

But Amberser knew that this phantom could never become Legendary.

The Undead Queen had a very strong desire for control; all of the undead in this subterranean kingdom were her slaves, branded with soul contracts of absolute obedience.

With this shackle, the undead could never step into the ranks of the Legendary.

Without a self, how could one comprehend the Legendary Grace that belonged to oneself?

Amberser’s mind was filled with many thoughts as he quickly arrived in a lavish and spacious room.

Withered Rose was sitting by the bed, leisurely reading a book.

The Undead Queen always carried herself with elegance, as if nothing could fluster her.

Melina, on the other hand, hugged her legs and buried her face in her knees, sitting on the bed in a very sorrowful posture.

Seeing Amberser appear, Withered Rose set down her book and said to Melina, "Your father is here; you two have a good chat, I can’t comfort you."

Just as Amberser was about to ask for clarification, Withered Rose walked to the doorway, leaving him with the words, "It seems Melina has been distressed; comfort her well. Once you have consoled her, come find me. The Fungus Folk have prepared for you."

Without waiting for Amberser to ask for details, Withered Rose had already walked away.

Amberser, left with no choice, approached his "daughter", sat by the bed, and said to Melina, "What happened? Can you tell me about it?"

To Amberser, Melina was no different from the Mercury Avatars he had previously created. She was merely a tool with self-awareness. But it seemed Withered Rose truly raised her as a daughter; her room was larger than his own laboratory.

Hearing Amberser’s voice, Melina looked up, her beautiful heterochromatic eyes filled with sadness. If it weren’t for the fact that the undead did not shed tears, she might have already been crying her eyes out.

With a trembling voice, Melina asked Amberser, "Father, am I really a fool?"

Amberser’s soul quivered, sensing that something was terribly wrong. Was this a concern fit for the undead? Had he gone too far in designing her, letting her have such intense emotional fluctuations?

"Why do you ask?"

Melina, with a very aggrieved tone, told Amberser about the experiences she had in Gloomyland over the past few days.

Withered Rose had indeed treated her well, putting in a lot of effort to craft Magic Equipment for her. Combined with Melina’s own abilities, she had no issues in Gloomyland.

At first, it went quite well. Using her eyes, which could see through all invisibility, Melina caught many Spider-transformed Drow, greatly reducing the assaults in the mining areas. In just a few days, she had nearly killed a hundred of them.

But Melina soon encountered retaliation, a very simple trap that, to Amberser, seemed as obvious as placing bait inside a noose the width of an arm with a sign next to it that read "This is not a trap."

Yet, such an absurd trap went unnoticed by Melina, who blundered into it head-first.

A large group of Spider-transformed Drow and hundreds of Drow Elves surrounded Melina firmly, and then mocked her together for two minutes.

Although Melina ultimately summoned her unstoppable Whispering Tree mount and slaughtered those Elves, the mockery still hurt her deeply.

The fact that Melina was a fool had already spread throughout Gloomyland; everyone knew of the powerful Undead Princess, but they all knew she had an intellectual problem, perhaps on par with lower-order undead, and could be trapped by simply drawing a circle on the ground.

Melina, looking pathetic, said, "I heard them say that even if a Drow Elf told me to my face that they were Gnomes, I would believe them!"

"That’s too much; it’s outright insulting!" Amberser quickly consoled her, "It has nothing to do with intelligence. You’ve only just been born; it took me hundreds of years to become smart."

"Really?" Melina quickly asked, "If I have enough time, can I become smart too?"

After thinking for a moment, Amberser replied, "You just lack a good teacher. Since I’m here, let me teach you. I guarantee that those Drow Elves will be too scared to lie to you in the future."
