Chapter 534: Chapter 281: Reversal - I’m Here to Fix Guns!
"You must be Connet, how did you end up like this?" Dark Night looked down at the broken figure on the ground, quite astonished.
"You needn’t concern yourself with that, I want you to kill everyone present, right now!" Connet’s voice trembled, yet he suppressed a surge of immense excitement.
His emotional swings had become hard to contain.
Thankfully, he had heeded Benny’s advice; upon arriving at the temporary base, he immediately informed Dark Night.
With him here, everything could be turned around again.
As Connet’s words fell, Ulrich and the others’ faces changed, and they looked at Dark Night in horror.
Was this guy called in by Connet?
"How are we supposed to fight this?" Sandro’s voice shook.
Theo’s face was tense, his grip on his dagger tightening.
So Dark Night was Connet’s real trump card—not some crack in the Dimension Realm, but a true superpower indeed!
Dark Night surveyed the crowd but unexpectedly shook his head, "No."
Connet hesitated, unable to help himself, "You promised me, as long as you came, there would be one opportunity for free employment."
"That’s correct." Dark Night nodded, "But I cannot kill Lord Azure Dragon."
Li Ming was taken aback, not kill me?
His confusion deepened—his identity was entirely fabricated; there was no way he could have any ties to significant figures. Why was this man looking for him?
Hearing "cannot kill," however, Li Ming breathed a slight sigh of relief. The "cannot" carried significant weight.
"Fine, deal with Azure Dragon however you like, but kill everyone else first!" Connet urged. He had guessed the other would either kill or capture; since killing was out, capturing seemed highly likely.
"Still no." Dark Night shook his head, "I need to ascertain something first."
Connet’s breathing quickened. He thought Dark Night’s arrival would turn the tables, but this guy was proving to be too problematic.
"What do you need to ascertain!?" he couldn’t help but say.
Dark Night ignored him and instead looked towards the pale golden Mecha, his gaze somewhat odd, speaking calmly: "Lord Azure Dragon, would you have any objections if I killed the others?"
A shiver ran through everyone’s hearts, with hope kindling amidst near-despair.
Ulrich’s eyes held disbelief—Dark Night’s tone was far too polite.
A sense of unease rose in Connet’s heart—was another unexpected event about to unfold?
Li Ming was also surprised and stayed silent as everyone’s eyes converged on him.
After a moment, he cautiously asked, "Sir, may I inquire why you are seeking me?"
"Uh..." Dark Night hesitated for a moment, then said, "I’d avoid telling others, but since it’s you, there’s no harm. My gun is broken, and I need someone to fix it. Within this region, it seems you’re the most likely to have a chance at fixing it."
He paused before continuing: "Initially, there was only a chance, but after seeing that shot from your cannon, I believe there is a great probability that you can fix it."
Li Ming was no longer listening to what was said after; upon hearing the first part, he breathed a long sigh of relief and could finally let go of the tension.
If you had said it was just about repairs, it would have saved me a heart-attack. Repairing things is no big deal.
"What!?" Connet was stunned, his astonishment nearly making him forget his severe pain.
Dark Night was seeking Azure Dragon just to fix a gun?
I @*%#
At that moment, he couldn’t describe the turmoil bubbling inside him.
Was the ace up his sleeve he considered confidence a falsehood from the start?
Benny’s face turned pale, his eyes full of disbelief—fixing... a gun?
Ulrich’s eyes almost sparkled with physical intensity.
Good, good that it broke.
Even Theo, usually the most composed, faltered, unable to remain calm in the face of life-or-death danger.
"The starry expanse is vast, and there may be things I can’t fix, but not many... Your gun shouldn’t be among them." Li Ming assured, conservatively and confidently.
"I hope so." Dark Night neither agreed nor disagreed, then inquired again, "Should I kill the other people with you? I don’t know their relationship with you, and I’d like to avoid any sabotage while you’re fixing my gun. So it’s better to ask your opinion."
"I did indeed promise this fellow one free employment opportunity."
At the statement, Theo didn’t dare relax, his relationship with Azure Dragon not being on good terms.
Silence fell around them; Ulrich could only helplessly and bitterly smile inwardly. Duke Guya’s ship was nothing.
The man who attempted to assassinate Duke Guya was standing right in front of them, still asking Azure Dragon for his opinion.
Sandro was about to speak but hesitated, questioning if he had done his duties diligently. Even attracting Connet’s attention, a dangerous task, had been executed well.
"They’re all my friends, it’s best not to kill them." Li Ming pondered for a moment before responding lightly.
Ulrich felt the tension ease from his heartstrings, and even his usually profound thoughts gave way to a hint of gratitude.
Dark Night nodded, looked at Connet, and shook his head, "Pick another request."
Connet fell silent, then angry, "You... you... you are Dark Night, must you ask him to fix something?"
"You promised me!"
Ulrich sneered, "You also promised us a share of the spoils."
Dark Night’s expression remained neutral, indifferent as he spoke: "I did promise, but compared to your request, my need takes priority."
"My request can be easily refused; what use is it?" Connet couldn’t help but say.
"I can keep you alive, does that count?"
Connet fell silent, and Li Ming’s eyes flickered. With Dark Night present, it appeared Connet’s life would be quite difficult to take.
However, his main objective had already been accomplished, and the items he needed were in his grasp.
