Chapter 453: Chapter 340: The Art of Masterful Forgery Techniques_2
Various apprehensions and hesitations all stem from an inadequacy of personal strength.
But now he is an A-level life form, coupled with various controls, he could directly overturn this place if need be...
The next day, Li Ming officially joined the Core Laboratory and began work on the manufacturing of the Sublimator.
This time, without Connet leading the way, he underwent strict inspection.
"Lord Azure Dragon, according to the regulations of the Core Laboratory, aside from personal smart terminals, no additional electronic devices are allowed," stated the responsible guard meticulously, scanning Li Ming’s body up and down.
Li Ming did not resist but asked out of curiosity, "What about Lord Jesaya?"
The guard who was scanning froze for a second, then someone by his side explained, "Lord Jesaya also removed the weapon module from his body."
"Beep, beep..." The instrument emitted a sharp alarm sound when it scanned Li Ming’s face.
"Mimic Mask, do you need me to take it off?" Li Ming inquired gently.
The guards looked at each other and the team leader hastily waved his hands, "No need, no need..."
Li Ming nodded, walked straight through the corridor, and the soldiers behind him were still whispering, "The captain, this Lord Azure Dragon is really approachable, almost no electronic devices on his body besides the Mimic Mask on his face."
"Not like the other Mechanics, every time we check them, it’s as if they’ve suffered a great insult."
"Enough, stay focussed on your shift," the captain scolded as the door to the Core Laboratory closed properly.
"Everyone’s here so early?" Li Ming stepped into the laboratory, quite surprised to see Jesaya and Benny had already begun working.
Benny shook his head with a smile, "Lord Azure Dragon, it’s not like there’s a fixed time to clock in or out. After the banquet ended yesterday, I had nothing else to do, so I just came over."
"Where’s Des?" Li Ming looked around, not finding that guy’s figure.
"I don’t know," Benny shook his head, his expression slightly odd, but he quickly concealed it.
"Yesterday Des provided a few core data points, which can resolve a lot of troubles. Today is a good day to push forward," Jesaya said.
"The three core points of the underlying framework should solve one."
Li Ming nodded, entering into the manufacturing process. His title as Great Mechanic wasn’t just for show, as his profession [Great Mechanic] had brought him much relevant knowledge.
At the same time, he had already switched his development system, using its [meditation] capability to pretend to work while developing Genetic Seeds, though at a greatly reduced efficiency.
...
Meanwhile, in Des’s room, the doorbell rang again.
He frowned subconsciously, a clear annoyance on his face, but it faded when he saw the figure that appeared on the video terminal.
Opening the door, there stood Brother, and to his surprise, Sandro as well, each holding a metal box.
"Just put it here," Brother directed Sandro to a spot on the floor.
Sandro seemed in a good mood, setting the metal box down and clapping his hands, "Buddy, it’s been a pleasure working with you, I’ll be taking off now."
"Okay," Brother nodded, Des had been silent the whole time, and only after Sandro left did he point to the boxes on the floor and frown, "What are these?"
"Metal materials," Brother casually opened the box, the reaction of various high-end alloys casting a rainbow of colors throughout the room.
"Oh?" Des was a bit surprised, glancing down, "Dark Matter Alloy..."
He recognized several materials, exclaiming in surprise, "All are quite expensive and difficult to collect A-level materials."
"Yes," Brother concurred, then with a hint of pride, "Guess how much I paid for these?"
"Must be five to six hundred million Star Coins," Des estimated.
"Four hundred and twenty million." Brother extended four fingers, each with five knuckles.
"It’s that cheap?" Des raised an eyebrow, subconsciously saying, "There won’t be any problems, right?"
"I’ve been by your side long enough to have some discernment," Brother shook his head. "These materials they acquired by slaying Bryrim, should be shared among four people."
"Azure Dragon wanted to buy them, but the offer was too low, so Ulrich and Sandro didn’t sell. Now they’re stuck with the merchandise, which is why Sandro wanted to sell in a hurry."
"Bryrim is dead?" Des was shocked, his expression dark and uncertain, "Four Level A combatants, truly terrifying."
"Indeed." Brother agreed, then continued, "But, it’s also like I picked up a bargain, with a few more pieces I should be able to make a weapon."
"Not bad, almost there." Des picked up a piece of material, only to hear Brother continue:
"Moreover, from what I gathered from Sandro, those four are not united. That simpleton Sandro, is very dissatisfied with the other three."
Des wasn’t surprised: "That’s normal, all three of Ulrich’s group once followed Star King Monroe. Even if one cannot explicitly say they betrayed him, it’s nearly the same. There are conflicts. As for Azure Dragon, they are merely using each other."
"Hm? This material..." Suddenly, his face grew puzzled as he looked at the shiny crystalline structure in his hand.
"What’s wrong?" Brother asked hastily.
"This is a Super Giant Nuclear Crystal, but it shouldn’t display this ’flame spread’ reaction under artificial light." Des held up the crystal under the light, and what reflected on the floor wasn’t a translucent shadow, but a circle of burning blue flames.
"What does that mean?" Brother didn’t quite understand.
Des didn’t speak at first, walked over to a silver-white box, and took out something like a magnifying glass, only much more sophisticated, projecting numerous virtual data pages all around.
Des examined closely, his expression growing more and more grave, Brother’s face also tensed up.
"Strange." Des frowned tightly.
"What’s strange? Is there something wrong with this material?" Brother quickly asked.
"Yes and no," Des felt even uncertain: "The external features match, internal features partially align, but the molecular structure is in disarray, like a failed forging attempt, yet it shouldn’t present such a perfect appearance."
Brother’s face went from blank to furious, "This material is junk?"
Des snorted coldly, "Junk? Junk wouldn’t have such a perfect appearance. It’s like it underwent a second forging, a second forgery."
"A skilful technique, unseen before." Des added.
"Sandro dared to dupe me!?" Brother burst into anger, immediately intending to confront Sandro, but was stopped by Des.
"You’ve already made a deal with him, he’s never going to admit it," Des shook his head, "Confronting him is pointless."
Brother was enraged and ashamed, thinking he had taken advantage of the simpleton Sandro, only to end up the bigger fool.
"We can’t just take this loss lying down." Brother said grimly.
Des’s eyes flickered, "What Sandro said, who knows what’s true and what’s false, whether or not these materials are really from Bryrim. Not certain."
"But such artifice of second forging cannot be done by anyone other than a Great Mechanic, and it requires extremely skilled ones at that."
"Are you suggesting, Azure Dragon made the forgery?" Brother’s expression shook, then he doubted, "Is this worth the trouble for just over four billion?"
A sharp light flitted through Des’s eyes, "Whether it’s him or not, take this opportunity to approach Sandro, then drag Azure Dragon into it."
"What do you mean?" Brother was still confused.
Des shook his head, urging him, "Just go, it’s clear you’ve been wronged already. I want to see what kind of reaction Connet will have."
"This... alright." Brother didn’t probe further, his eyes swirling with fury.
