Chapter 401: Chapter 214: The Unexpected Calamity from Afar, The Astute Asimara_2
"You..." Sandro’s face turned ugly. Abruptly, he turned to leave but didn’t even make it out the door before he scoffed and turned back.
He truly didn’t dare to leave just like that, fearing that the moment he stepped out, these three would leave him behind.
From the corner of his eye, Li Ming noticed Sandro’s move and couldn’t help but shake his head. He returned to his room to continue developing the Genetic Seed.
Without other distractions, Li Ming tirelessly worked on the seed. Even after surpassing 60%, when the development speed began to wane.
But the time spent compensated for this, maintaining a terrifying progress rate of over 1% per day.
Three days later, his progress reached 82%. Looking at the screen in front of him, his eyes twinkled—Feder had contacted him again.
However, the conversation message he received was quite unexpected.
"F*ck, what did Asimara talk to you about last time? You didn’t give anything away, did you?"
Li Ming stroked his chin and typed a "?"
"My intelligent terminal was confiscated a few days ago. I thought about it, and it must be because of you. She didn’t try to pry information from you?"
"Or did you not realize it? That’s impossible, right?"
"..." Li Ming was quite surprised and puzzled, "Indeed, she did speak to me, and something was off in her words. But I didn’t engage much."
"I knew it!" Feder seemed very angry, "Good that you noticed."
"How did you get your intelligent terminal back?" Li Ming inquired.
"After all, I am Prince Bai Jiang’s son. My father and Asimara have been at odds, not just since yesterday. I didn’t commit any crimes; she dared to confiscate my intelligent terminal, treating me like a criminal. Could my father just let it go so easily?"
It seemed reasonable enough; Li Ming looked at the reply, but his relationship with Feder was one of mutual use, lacking any real trust.
In other words, as long as he could benefit from Feder, does it really matter whether the person was Feder or not?
Feder continued, "My intelligent terminal being confiscated is heavily related to you. That Nano Armor your teacher wears, is its prototype from the Ascender Civilization? Does your teacher have a way to enter the Ascender Relics?"
Li Ming didn’t reply immediately but soon received another message.
"I’m under close watch here. I need to show my father some value. What do you want?"
Li Ming’s lips curved slightly; this began to sound very familiar.
On the other side of the screen, Asimara, Prince Bai Jiang, and the profusely sweating Feder all stared at the large screen.
In the intelligence office, everyone held their breath until a message popped up on Li Ming’s side, "I want to know, has Asimara been investigating the death of Isus all along?"
Feder felt a numbness all over, his expression dazed as he could only hear a string of discussions in his ear.
"Assessing the secrecy level of the question..."
"Preliminary analysis in progress, there is an 85% probability that this is not the first information exchange between the two; judging by the secrecy level of the question raised, there is a 70% likelihood that past information exchanges have violated civilization-related interests."
"Indeed..." Asimara chuckled lightly, "What best friends, just an exchange of interests. Bai Jiang..."
Prince Bai Jiang’s face darkened, his eyes coldly sweeping over the dazed Feder.
Feder clenched his teeth inwardly, that bitch Asimara was truly damn venomous. After the last "best friend" personality mismatch, she directly switched to "exchange of interests."
And most annoyingly, she almost guessed it all right.
"To my knowledge, Asimara has indeed been covertly investigating the matter. Additionally, the Star Abyss Empire is suspected of having a hand in it, but I’m not sure."
Li Ming read Feder’s response—people from the Star Abyss Empire?
Was Isus that significant?
He pondered for a moment and replied, "Indeed, that armor was obtained by my teacher from some Ascender Civilization Relics and later repaired and modified into Nano Armor."
"As for whether there is a way to enter Ascender Relics, I’m not sure."
"Not sure?"
"Your answer is too ambiguous."
Feder roared inside, clearly, that’s not my tone.
More precisely, it wasn’t the tone he used when talking with Li Ming. Though he hated to admit it, he was in a weaker position in these conversations.
Can’t this guy see that?
"The answer you gave me is just as ambiguous," a message popped up on the screen.
Asimara pondered for a moment, carrying an air of having everything under her control, and then gestured with her hand, "Tell him about Scenario One."
"Forget it, here’s a piece of news for you: Professor Wu Yanqing has escaped. Asimara is currently pursuing him; it seems he took some precious item related to the Ascender Relics."
Li Ming’s eyebrows slightly raised as he swiped to open his friends’ page and found Wu Yanqing’s account, which had several unreplied messages, mainly asking about his whereabouts.
The most recent one was from over a month ago.
Old Wu has defected?
Li Ming frowned slightly, squinting his eyes: "Then I’ll give you a piece of information, my mentor has found out who the person from the Star Abyss Empire standing behind Theo is."
Feder’s heart skipped a beat, Prince Bai Jiang’s complexion subtly changed; he had known this news for a while but did not tell Asimara, even asking Feder to keep it a secret.
Sure enough, when Asimara read this line, her facade of control was shattered, her brows furrowed tightly, uncertainty flashing in her eyes, and then she looked at Prince Bai Jiang coldly.
"What’s going on?" she asked sharply.
Prince Bai Jiang hesitated, but knowing that since Li Ming had brought it up, it could no longer be hidden, he begrudgingly said, "The Power of the Stars’ Grey Eyes—Theo, he recently lost an item, the Casablanca Flower."
"What?!" Asimara’s pupils suddenly shone with a desolate brilliance; she instantly understood many things.
A strange expression soon concealed under her increasingly cold demeanor.
"Did you find out? Who is it?"
Feder asked eagerly.
Li Ming smirked slightly, "I want a main ship gun, including the complete Energy Generator, it must not be too damaged."
"What do you want that thing for? What use is that gun aside from being on a warship?"
"That’s none of your business, will you agree to the deal or not?"
Everyone’s gaze turned to Asimara, and Feder felt something was off; he seemed to have not asked Li Ming to investigate the person behind Theo.
"Ask him where to deliver it?" Asimara spoke in a deep voice.
"I’ll figure it out, where should the item be delivered to?"
"Land of Stars."
Asimara’s sharp gaze flickered; the conversation continued.
"You’re also in the Land of Stars?"
"That’s none of your business, deliver the goods, and I will provide the information. Besides, I don’t have much time to wait – fifteen days is all I am giving you."
"Fifteen days, that’s too soon; the time is not enough. Including planning, it’ll take at least a month."
"Just a friendly tip, Black Hole Network might have it for sale."
"Agree to it!" Asimara suddenly interjected, causing the numerous intelligence officers to be slightly startled, then they quickly got to work.
"I got it, send me the detailed address."
Prince Bai Jiang couldn’t help but remind, "Asimara, you’re being too hasty."
"What you should be worried about now is the treason of your son," Asimara’s voice was cold.
Feder’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably, "Commander, this is an unfounded accusation."
He was starting to seriously suspect that Li Ming had caught on to the irregularity and was using Asimara to fish for something.
The Mimicry personality he was imitating was perfect, but the problem was that he was not holding just one or two handles in Li Ming’s hands.
The leaks of Evolution Theory and Secret Record of Liberation, as well as the video of his oath of allegiance to Torch Organization.
Each of these made him feel less confident in front of Li Ming; their relationship was far from equal.
But he couldn’t possibly explain all these.
Asimara ignored him, her expression shifting between light and darkness, "What about Wu Yanqing?"
"For the moment, there is no information," her subordinate reported.
