This is really not mechanical ascension

Chapter 380: Chapter 204: Handicap Yourself, You Guys Fight First

In the confined space, silence prevailed, save for Rob’s sinister laugh echoing around, while his cyclopean companion Froza stood stiffly nearby, staring at the now seemingly crazed Rob.

"That was the great Mechanician, just like that, killed?"

"This wasn’t part of the plan at all," he trembled, foreseeing the massive uproar this event would cause.

Sislang bared his teeth and held a mechanical rifle across his chest, eyeing Clint and the others intently.

"You’re asking for death!" Clint bellowed, unstoppable rage rising within him.

He hadn’t expected Rob to go berserk so suddenly, to kill Azure Dragon straightaway, and what surprised him even more was that the great Mechanician Azure Dragon showed no intention of resisting.

Weren’t the reports about his strength substantial, his development not less than 60% complete, and especially proficient in speed? How then was he simply captured?

"Could it be because he had just killed that Mechanical Transformation on the ground, and thus was injured?"

His mind was in disarray, uncertain how to explain this when he got back.

Rob continued to sneer, "Had you not suddenly torn up the agreement, I wouldn’t have killed him."

Yet Rob was unconcerned; his objective was solely to "set up the Reassembly Fabricator." If he could take the great Mechanician Azure Dragon with him, he would; if not, there was only death.

Squish!

He withdrew his armblade, but the nearby Froza suddenly widened his lone eye, exclaiming in shock, "Rob...!"

Clint also stopped abruptly, his face a mix of surprise and uncertainty, as he watched the body of Azure Dragon on the ground dissipate and dissolve, ultimately dispersing into a pool of light that vanished completely.

A flicker of doubt crossed Rob’s expression, "This isn’t his real body?"

Then everyone noticed, there was indeed no blood on Rob’s armblade.

It was just that the shock of the moment had distracted them from noticing earlier.

Even though the sensation of piercing flesh had been so real, the sight before them forced Rob to feel the humiliation of being fooled.

"Where is he!?" he growled, reacting swiftly, dashing through the hole in the vault, with Flora right on his heels, her heart leaping.

Clint quickly followed suit, the three of them moving with purpose and caution, observing the vault through the hole from a distance.

"Gone? How can he be gone!" Rob looked around warily, a great unease rising in his chest.

"The man has disappeared?" Clint was equally dumbfounded, signaling his men to hold back for the moment as the voice of the Dimensional Gods remained silent.

He too was now at a loss.

"Boss, maybe he’s not here, is he?" Froza ventured cautiously.

"Impossible. We saw it clearly from the control room; it’s here!" Froza insisted before coldly turning to Clint and the others, "Your target has vanished, mine too, do we still fight?"

Clint hesitated then shook his head; it wouldn’t be wise to continue the fight with both their objectives gone.

"He can’t just disappear out of thin air," someone from Clint’s side said sonorously.

"Of course he can’t just disappear out of thin air!" The trio emerged from the laboratory, Clint slowly retreating, his towering figure sweeping his gaze left and right, "Huo Tan’s body is here, which proves that when Huo Tan came down, he was still here."

"The upper seal was broken open by us; he couldn’t have exited that way. If he didn’t go up..."

Rob’s gaze gradually settled on the lower metal plate sealing the narrow elevator shaft, "Then there’s only one possibility."

He threw a blazing fireball that exploded with a bang on the metal plate, scattering metal fragments and revealing the floor with obvious cut marks.

Clint’s eyes flickered. He was indeed below.

Rob’s forehead was furrowed; something felt very off. Emerging from the vault, the guy’s priority wasn’t to flee, but rather to go down?

"Down there is probably the Collector’s storehouse," came a voice from Clint’s channel, "This great Mechanician is way too greedy."

"You guys go first," said Rob, expressionless.

Clint gestured; a person in promotional armor cautiously stepped forward, crouched over the metal plate, and observed: "There’s no trace of thermal cutting, no energy reaction?"

"As expected of a great Mechanician..."

"Are you over there praising him?" Rob said impatiently.

The person carefully tapped along the edge and peeled off the circular metal plate stuck to the bottom, pulling out a metal fiber wire from his armored wrist and gingerly extended it inside.

"Environmental data is normal..." he stood up and was the first to jump in, and Clint glanced at Rob before following.

Rob hesitated for a moment, kicked Froza in first, and then followed.

Three against three, each side with clearly defined positions, exchanged surreptitious glances before turning their attention to the semicircular opening at the bottom of the door.

"He’s got some nerve..." Froza muttered, his throat moving, his sole eye glowing green.

The Collector’s treasure trove—who wouldn’t want it?

Especially for raiders like them, it was a deadly temptation. Even now with the situation unclear, they couldn’t help but feel an irrepressible greed welling up inside them.

"You go first," Rob said, but this time, Clint’s trio remained motionless.

That Azure Dragon was likely waiting right behind the door. The hole was too small; if they were to crawl in, it would be difficult to adjust their posture quickly and they might be susceptible to a sneak attack.

"Let’s join forces and break the door first," Clint said gravely.

Rob snorted but didn’t object. Even though he couldn’t wait to kill the other party, he had to cooperate for now.

"He’s already made a cut; if we follow this opening and rip it open forcefully, it might be easier," one of Clint’s men suggested.

Rob took a deep breath, his skin suddenly igniting in intense flames, and palm-sized scales emerged all over his body, with an even longer, two-meter tail growing behind him, its tip like a flail burning with flames.
