Chapter 335: Chapter 181 Collector’s Treasury, Jesaya’s Surprise, Saber’s Secret_2
After sending Li Ming away, Jesaya couldn’t help but ask, "Why would he agree to work for you?"
Ulrich smiled without speaking, "Intimidation, temptation, and the addition of a Material Reorganization Machine, no mechanic could resist the allure of that thing."
"What’s his background?" Jesaya asked again.
"I don’t know," Ulrich shook his head, "I didn’t check, and there’s no need to."
"To have a Grand Mechanic hide his identity, knowing the reason can’t be good."
Jesaya fell silent, frowning as he said, "Since he’s here, hasn’t the Torch Organization contacted you?"
"The day before you arrived, Torch did contact me. They wanted to invite him over to the Torch Organization, but I refused," Ulrich said gravely.
"You refused? Even the chance to enter the Ascender Civilization Relics?" Jesaya was somewhat surprised.
Ulrich scoffed, "A seemingly tempting bait. How many people are eyeing those relics, and several advanced civilizations nearby might even make a move. Can one enter and come out alive?"
"Considering the little rapport between us, let me remind you, although you are a Grade A life form, you are still just a Grade A life form,"
"The Torch Organization is not to be trifled with," Jesaya hinted.
"This is my territory," Ulrich was equally calm.
Jesaya tried to probe further, "But what if you can’t protect him?"
Ulrich didn’t respond, his blood-red pupils dark and deep.
Jesaya shook his head, "Never mind, I’ll go stroll around the Land of Stars, it’s been a while since I last visited."
...
In Saber’s medical shop, Saber sighed in relief, removing the multifunctional analyzer from his face, his voice hoarse:
"Just reattached your right hand, don’t move it too much these next two days. With your vitality, you should be able to reattach it completely in about four to five days."
On the medical chair lay a red-skinned lizard, its right hand jointed together with a metallic structure, showing clear signs of a previous fracture, now stitched up with fine threads.
"Thanks, old Saber," the red-skinned lizard tried to move a little and immediately felt unbearable pain, but a tingling sensation was faintly starting to spread.
Saber shook his head: "No need to thank me, you pay, I treat; it’s simple."
After paying, the red-skinned lizard left, and someone followed him in through the door that was left ajar.
Saber glanced at him, his expression stiffened, but he quickly adjusted, saying nothing, he then led the person upstairs.
The third floor was plain, with a sleeping pod placed against the wall.
Saber’s eyes flickered, activating some kind of device, and a substantial bluish electromagnetic wave instantly enveloped the entire room.
Only then did he move the painting on the wall, conducting a series of checks. As it beeped, a thick metallic wall slowly opened, revealing a narrow slit.
Saber stepped aside, "Please," he said.
The person who had followed him watched silently; only then did he step forward.
The room beyond the passage was not very large and was filled with various precision instruments, several screens hung on the walls displaying continuously refreshing data.
Most eye-catching, however, was the glass chamber in the center of the room, filled with murky bluish-green liquid that covered the shattered figure within.
The person’s gaze became distant, staring for a long time.
"Jesaya, every time you come in, you freeze for a while. It’s been decades; haven’t you gotten used to it yet?" a voice tinged with digital amusement rang out.
Only then did Jesaya slowly come back to reality, chuckling bitterly, "Another few decades might still not be enough, Lord Monroe."
"How many times have I told you, just call me Monroe," the voice said lightly, "I’m no longer the Star King."
The two seemed to have discussed this issue many times, Jesaya shook his head.
Meanwhile, Saber simply walked up to the cryopod, carefully opened it, and took out a small can of blue liquid.
He activated the chamber’s depressurization system, the murky bluish-green liquid was quickly drained through the pipes.
As the liquid level dropped, the figure’s entire body gradually became visible—an extensively modified Mechanical Transformation body.
His entire body, including his skull, had been transformed into a metal mechanical structure.
However, his condition looked quite poor now, with most of his body severely damaged, his arms, chest, and even his skull appeared rotten, and his chest had been cut open, with electric sparks shooting out.
The most astonishing thing was the green liquid covering his body, which seemed difficult to wash away.
But upon closer examination, one would realize that it was not a liquid, but countless nano-mechanical insects, barely visible to the naked eye, that were frantically devouring the metal surface of his mechanical transformation.
Jesaya couldn’t help feeling startled; those nano-mechanical insects also made him feel terrified, and then he took out a rusty gray face armor from his bosom and placed it on the table.
"Ha..." Monroe chuckled, "My mask..."
Jesaya whispered, "Ulrich just got a new mechanic."
"Ulrich, still fond of tinkering with his little gadgets," Monroe’s voice carried a hint of amusement, Saber hesitantly looked up.
"A mechanic, a better mechanic than me," Jesaya added.
"A Mechanic... better than you?" Monroe was more astonished, lying in the capsule seemingly unable to move, with faint light flickering in his mechanical eyes.
"Such a Mechanic ending up in the Land of Stars? Intriguing..."
Just then, the murky liquid in the capsule was drained, and it was rinsed with clean water, Saber, holding a delicate blue liquid container, carefully inserted it back into the glass chamber.
Then after dilution, a large amount of liquid was poured into the glass window to fill it, Saber, holding a magnifying glass, carefully observed until he was sure that the activity of the nano-mechanical insects had slowed down considerably before he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Is extra confirmation really necessary? It’s been fine for so many years," Monroe said helplessly, "Saber is just too cautious."
"Caution is never wrong," Saber put away the magnifying glass, hesitated for a moment, then whispered softly, "Sir Star King, I have an idea."
Monroe interrupted blandly, "You want to take the parts from my body to see that supposed mechanic?"
Saber hurriedly said, "Sir, this is a rare opportunity, this person I have met, Lord Jesaya says his level is extremely high, if he has a way..."
"No way..." Monroe interrupted, "A Mechanic so what? Jesaya, tell me, is it possible for him?"
Jesaya hesitated, then sighed, "Over the years, I’ve sought out no less than ten Mechanics, all of whom were at a loss. Although he’s more skilled, this is after all..."
He shook his head, having entertained that thought when he arrived, but then erased it himself.
"But..." Saber faltered, "We should at least try."
"I myself am a mechanical transformation; don’t I know?" Monroe still refused, "The damage I’ve suffered isn’t just a matter of repair, it’s an erosion until I die completely."
"Actually, you should have let me die a long time ago."
Saber couldn’t help but say, "But what if, just what if..."
"What if?" Monroe’s voice grew solemn, "Have you ever thought about what would happen to you if Ulrich discovers I’m with you?"
"I’m not afraid," Saber said firmly, Jesaya helpless.
Monroe fell silent for a moment, "I’m already immobile, if you really want to try, why bother asking me?"
"You are always the Star King, sir," Saber was utterly respectful.
Monroe sighed, "Forget it then, I’m tired. The one who can save me is unlikely to appear in the Land of Stars."
Saber’s face was tense, he ultimately didn’t speak, just nodded heavily.
Jesaya’s mechanical pupils flickered, "Ulrich is watching me; I can’t disappear for too long."
Saber saw Jesaya off, then came back to clean up, and Monroe spoke again, "Saber, let’s make a deal."
Saber, who was putting the rusted mask back in the cabinet, puzzled.
"I will let you take my limbs to that guy to see," Monroe said, "but if there is still no solution, you must let me die."
Saber was stunned, then couldn’t help but exclaim, "Sir Star King..."
"Saber!" Monroe interrupted sternly, then softened, "I’m tired, you make this last attempt for me, it’s for both of us."
Saber’s tears rolled down, and after a long moment, he said, "Yes, Sir Star King."
