Chapter 289: Chapter 159: Running Away - The First Mechanical Guard

"Additionally, based on the information provided by our insider in the Torch Organization, we can confirm the existence of the Dimensional Gods, and this matter will soon be resolved," he said.

Prince Bai Jiang reassured his son before ending the communication.

Feder then received several calls, some of which made him respectful while others made him curse loudly.

After a rare moment of calm, he massaged his brow and suddenly received a message that made him curse and jump with anger.

"Damn Duke Bai Ye!" he gritted his teeth and hurried off to Wu Yanqing’s laboratory.

He had intended to consult with Li Ming to see if that guy had any cunning ideas.

Instead, he learned something that made him even more furious.

"What do you mean Li Ming has already left Jingnan Star?" Feder pressed Luo Chuan.

Luo Chuan explained with a smile, "Exactly as it sounds, Li Ming left Jingnan Star with Ya Ro earlier."

"Who, who allowed him to leave?" Feder felt something was off.

"Why couldn’t he leave?" Luo Chuan was puzzled. "I heard that Duke Bai Ye left as well."

Feder, concealing his rage, said, "Isus’s death hasn’t been thoroughly investigated yet, how could he leave!"

Luo Chuan shrugged his shoulders.

"Where is he planning to go?" Feder pressed on.

"I don’t know the specifics. You should ask him yourself," Luo Chuan shook his head.

Suppressing his anger, Feder left and immediately contacted Li Ming. No one picked up at first, but on the second try, Li Ming’s face popped up on the virtual screen, looking quite lazy.

"Who allowed you to leave?" Feder immediately demanded.

"I did," Li Ming replied, drawling.

"Why did you leave? Do you realize leaving now makes you very suspicious?" Feder was aggressive.

"Suspicious of what?" Li Ming was initially confused, then realized, "Oh, you mean Isus’s death?"

"Didn’t they find a torch in the Winged Shadow Fleet? Besides, you searched me thoroughly and didn’t find the ring. What does this have to do with me?"

Feder frowned deeply, "Then why did you leave?"

"Because I’m scared," Li Ming replied.

Caught off guard by Li Ming’s answer, Feder was about to ask further but Li Ming continued:

"Asimara was already predisposed against me, who knows if she might not use Isus’s death as leverage."

"Of course, more importantly, I didn’t want to get dragged into your political whirlpool. I wanted to find a safe place to lie low for a while, until the storm passes."

Feder, still puzzled, replied, "Even if Asimara were against you, my father would help you."

"Help me? The unconditional kind?" Li Ming scoffed.

Feder paused, "But your sudden departure will cause trouble."

"I know," Li Ming smiled, "but I believe Prince Feder will help smooth things over for me."

Feder’s face darkened; he knew it meant he had to clean up another mess!

"Where are you headed?" he asked through clenched teeth.

"That you don’t need to worry about; we can stay in touch through the star network," Li Ming chuckled and then ended the communication.

Putting away his smart terminal, his room appeared a bit cluttered, not only cramped but also with a faint odor.

Opening the door, the corridor was just as crowded, with various items scattered around.

Outside the porthole, the light flowed like stars, moving through warp travel.

"Junior brother, don’t mind the poor state of the spaceship," Ya Ro, seated at the pilot’s seat, turned and grinned sheepishly.

This spacecraft, narrow in the front and wide at the rear with a streamlined shape, had outer armor that was somewhat worn, with severe paint damage.

On both sides were bars fitted to the hull, with spiral-shaped thrusters at the ends of the bars that could change angles, making them quite flexible; it was a modified civilian spaceship, also equipped with a symbolic fire control system.

"It’s okay," Li Ming shook his head and asked, "How long will it take us to reach the Land of Stars?"

"Since we’re traveling through the star gate to the Aurora civilization, it should take just over half a month under normal conditions," Ya Ro estimated.

"But we need to take a detour, so it might take a month and a half," he added.

"A month and a half?" Li Ming frowned slightly, "Is it going to take that long?"

"Interstellar travel usually takes several months; it’s normal," Ya Ro said nonchalantly.

"Then why do we need to take a detour?" Li Ming was puzzled.

"Uh... due to some reasons," Ya Ro said vaguely, and seeing that, Li Ming didn’t ask further.

Returning to his room, Ya Ro’s spaceship had undergone alterations; its basic infrastructure was incomplete, not to mention any surveillance equipment.

Taking out the Subspace Folding Ring he had acquired from Isus, Li Ming’s eyes flickered with eagerness.

On Jingnan Star, to avoid any accidents, he had never taken it out until now, finally having the opportunity to closely study it.

After a slight rotation, he felt something magical.

The space around the ring seemed twisted, and as his palm reached through, it felt as though it was wrapped in a layer of film. He could vaguely sense a special space, but strangely, he couldn’t reach into it.

"Is there some kind of verification?" Li Ming frowned, and after pondering for a moment realized that indeed there seemed to be genetic verification.

He wasn’t too surprised, as such high-tech items without this feature would actually be odd.

"I can only try this method," Li Ming then put away the ring and placed it in the control bar.

Instantly, he could vaguely sense the location of a space; it wasn’t large, just about five cubic meters.

He tried to reach his arm in, and then it seemed his arm really entered the space, the front part disappearing. When he pulled it out, he was holding a syringe-like metal tube in his hand.
