Chapter 229: Chapter 129: A Powerful Spiritual Ability User? Sain’s Despair!_2
"Oh?" Sain pondered, "When?"
"Today, right here, right now!"
Sain’s heart skipped a beat, only to hear the other party continue promptly.
"Li Ming will appear here today."
"What?" Sain was taken aback, then surprised. Inquiring about Li Ming’s movements was no simple matter; the guy had no schedule, acting spontaneously anytime he pleased.
"What’s he doing here?" He wrote quickly, even catching the attention of his colleagues, who glanced over twice.
"He has a friend, brought a batch of smuggled goods, needs him to meet up."
Such detailed information? Sain thought over it carefully.
"You’re planning for me to kill him here?" Sain shook his head, "I won’t die alongside him."
"Don’t worry, you won’t have to do it personally. I’ve placed a psychic relay here, through which I can amplify my spiritual power. You just need to get within 1 meter of him, and I can kill him directly."
A relay? Sain hesitated internally, "Getting within 1 meter of him and having him die right before my eyes is too risky."
"He’ll be taken out by a Superpower User. What does that have to do with you? Is Sela Civilization just sitting around doing nothing? They won’t..."
The other party was halfway through speaking when they suddenly stopped, "At your three o’clock, the one wearing a red hat, denim vest, gray pants, black shoes."
Sain glanced over subconsciously and quickly pinpointed the person.
"He’s one of Torch’s."
Sain was taken aback, staring for quite a while and detecting nothing unusual.
He didn’t hesitate, immediately opening another page and anonymously reporting a suspicious person here.
Before long, he noticed a group of people, obviously undercover city guards, approaching the individual.
The other party didn’t notice at first, but when they sensed something was amiss and tried to flee, they were quickly subdued, causing a commotion and soon whisked away.
Sain kept watching and could tell from their behavior that they were no ordinary person, probably indeed Torch.
Given what the guy said, he began to believe him about seventy percent, and his heart grew even more alarmed at such a terrifying ability.
Overlooking everyone, as if knowing all secrets, if Li Ming were to come, he would surely not escape either.
"Now, do you believe me?" the voice rang out again.
Sain hesitated for a moment, "Where’s your relay located?"
"In the bathroom at four o’clock. Inside the third stall on the right, locked from the inside. You’ll see it when you open up."
Sain turned and looked towards the bathroom. He still hadn’t made up his mind about killing Li Ming; this was also very risky.
But it wouldn’t hurt to take it first, and if things changed, he’d deal with it then.
However, he needed some insurance; after pondering for a moment, he quickly intercepted the envoy and murmured a few words.
The envoy seemed very impatient, staring coldly at him, but eventually pulled out a palm-sized metal object from his chest and handed it to him.
"You are indeed cautious," the voice rang out once more.
"Better safe than sorry," Sain shrugged his shoulders. With the object in his chest, he finally felt completely at ease.
It was a psychic defense device, a rare item, only given to envoys of his rank to prevent being killed by the other party when taking the relay.
With this device, he held the initiative. Even if he didn’t make a move on Li Ming, he could still attempt to contact this Mind Power User.
A Mind Power User of such strength always had their uses.
He followed the instructions to the bathroom, found the stall, and forcibly burst the lock. There was indeed a square metal block on the floor.
"This is it, as long as the target is within 1m, I can release spiritual power through it."
He could see even this place? Sain raised an eyebrow, picked it up from the floor, wiped it with a tissue, seeing nothing noteworthy.
After hesitating for an instant, he still pocketed it.
Outside, Li Ming with his head lowered, slightly smiled.
Meanwhile, Sain, still pondering, felt a sudden sharp pain emanating from his chest.
This instantly brought him back to his senses, a foreboding feeling rising within him. Blue streams flickered across his skin’s surface, accompanied by sizzling sounds as his upper clothing shredded into pieces and fluttered away.
The metal block he had just put into his pocket had already fully unfolded, clinging tightly to the skin of his chest, with its metallic mechanical structure now covering almost half of his torso.
At the covered area, it felt as if sharp needles pierced his skin, burrowing into his bone marrow.
A sensation of weakness surged through his body, turning his expression into one of utter horror.
He was familiar with this feeling, which was clearly the initial sign of being restrained by a gene inhibitor.
This metal block wasn’t any sort of mental relay but a gene inhibitor!
Only then did Sain realize the truth, too urgent now to consider much else, his palms whipped up a fierce gale within the restroom, roaring incessantly, as he conjured up a cyan, sharp wind blade, attempting to slice off the metallic covering on his chest.
But only to hear a series of clanging collisions, the gene inhibitor remained intact and had already spread to his shoulders.
Hands clinging tightly to the edges, Sain roared in anger, his body wracked by waves of weakness, while someone in the next stall quietly peeked through the gap, terrified.
"A Level-C gene inhibitor is specifically designed to restrain Level-C life forms. Once you put it on, don’t expect to take it off."
Li Ming saw this scene clearly. The [gene inhibitor] had been collected when he was ambushed upon his arrival at Jingnan Star.
It took fifty thousand metal energy to upgrade to Level C, valuable but well worth the price.
The whole affair was a lie targeting Sain from beginning to end.
Sain had been led into a trap; he thought he had the final say over whether to attack Li Ming or not.
In reality, the moment he picked up the object, the plan was over.
The rest of the plan was just to give Sain the illusion of being deceived, to make him believe that this was only the beginning.
Sain clenched his teeth as the metallic mechanical structure spread across his skin, eventually forming a seal around his neck.
"Ah--"
With a terrible screech, sweat poured from his forehead as he had never felt his body so heavy before, as if he carried the core of a star.
However, the expansion of the gene inhibitor was not yet over, as the metal structure crept down his spine, spreading sideways at the coccyx to cover both of his thighs.
The gene inhibitor expanded rapidly, but Sain did not stand idly by and had already turned to sprint towards the entrance.
He didn’t know who had set the trap, but leaving the area to be noticed by his colleagues was his only chance for survival.
Bang!
Darkness flashed before his eyes as he unexpectedly collided with someone, the tremendous recoil causing him to stagger and fall to the floor, and to his despair, the gene inhibitor had already sealed around his thighs.
His legs were forcibly bent backward, making it impossible for him to stand again.
"I... help me get out, and I’ll reward you," Sain said, looking up in attempt to persuade the person before him to assist him in leaving.
However, as he clearly saw the expression on the other person’s face, he fell deeper into despair, because there was no trace of doubt or concern, only a sinister smile.
"You..." Sain suddenly understood that this person was there to kill him.
"Even if you kill me, you can’t leave either! There are surveillance cameras everywhere, Blue Star will scrutinize every individual!" Faced with life-threatening danger, Sain’s mind raced, and he shouted repeatedly:
"Who are you, how have I offended you, why have you set this trap to kill me!"
He wanted to communicate with the Spiritual Ability User in hiding, his mind churning with confusion and despair.
"To follow the guidance of the Dimensional Gods, I have come to see you on your way." The burly man’s voice was low and fierce in tone.
"Torch?" Seeing the fervor in the man’s eyes, Sain couldn’t believe it.
The burly man didn’t intend to waste words with him, pulling out a wire saw from the strap of his backpack and swiftly wrapping it around Sain’s neck, then he sawed back and forth.
The intense pain caused Sain’s pupils to dilate, bloodshot and filled with despair and unwillingness.
His arms were forcefully brought together, allowing only minor movements, his entire body immobilized,
He couldn’t believe he was dying in such a suffocating manner here.
Blood bubbled from his mouth as the wire saw sank into his neck, moving slowly.
The gene inhibitor suppressed most of his abilities, but his bodily strength was permanently solidified; one could only grind it down slowly.
By the time it was halfway, Sain had completely lost vital signs, letting the other man sever his neck.
Outside, Li Ming’s face remained calm as he stood up to adjust his clothes before blending into the crowd.
