Chen Ruchang is the current head of the Chen Family.

Compared to the heads of other families, Chen Ruchang is relatively younger, as he’s only sixty-five years old this year.

He married early, so his sons Chen Yining and Chen Yijing are about the same age as Yang Yunlin and Ling Zhengping.

Chen Ruchang has quite a bit of capability. After taking charge of the Chen Family in his fifties, he has not only held his own against families guarded by elderly leaders but gained significant advantages.

Chen Ruchang plans to find some time to talk with Chen Jiahai, hoping he would be more tactful in what he does and be more meticulous in style to avoid criticism. But recently, he’s been busy, and Chen Jiahai has been recuperating, so the grandfather and grandson haven’t had a proper exchange.

Getting up early, after exercising and having breakfast, Chen Ruchang went to work.

He had plenty of work today.

Having been busy all morning, he finally had lunch close to twelve thirty, and after finishing lunch, he prepared to take a break.

Just as he was about to rest, a staff member quickly walked in, leaned in, and whispered a few words to him.

At this moment, another staff reported that Chen Yining, father of Chen Jiahai and Chen Ruchang’s eldest son, requested to see Chen Ruchang.

When Chen Yining entered, his face was ashen.

"What exactly happened?" Chen Ruchang suppressed his inner anger and shouted hoarsely at Chen Yining.

"I just received the news, haven’t been over yet, came to inform you first, planning to go check it out," Chen Yining, slightly cooler than Chen Ruchang, calmly said, "Reportedly, both he and a woman died in an outside apartment, suspected of overdosing on aphrodisiacs."

Chen Ruchang furrowed his brows: "No other suspicions?"

"Not at the moment!" Chen Yining left it at that, "Father, I’ll head to the hospital first."

Chen Yining had just received the news, and on the way to the hospital, he passed by Chen Ruchang’s workspace and thus came to report first.

Right now, Chen Yining was unsure what to feel.

If one said Chen Jiahai was murdered or died of other reasons, he would surely be enraged.

Turned out, Chen Jiahai died while fooling around with a woman in an apartment, which made him furious and exasperated, itching to drag out Chen Jiahai and whip the corpse. He knew his son’s nature, being promiscuous, constantly needing women, even getting a nurse pregnant while hospitalized.

The nurse eventually had an abortion due to threats from the Chen Family.

There were more than just one nurse led astray by Chen Jiahai, there were several.

Chen Yining had cursed Chen Jiahai several times, saying he would eventually die on a woman’s belly.

Chen Jiahai was still taken to the best facility, 401 Hospital, but by the time he was sent there, he already showed no signs of life.

According to the hospital doctor, Chen Jiahai had been dead for at least eight hours when he was brought to the hospital, as postmortem lividity had set in.

After receiving the report, the police immediately intervened in the investigation, and the apartment building where Chen Jiahai lived was fully sealed off; no one could enter or exit.

All surveillance videos were sealed, and even police of bureau chief level could not access them.

After visiting the hospital and inquiring about the situation, Chen Ruchang left. Chen Yining continued to stay there, personally following up on the matter.

Soon, the preliminary autopsy report came out, showing that Chen Jiahai died of being overly stimulated, and the woman as well.

The cause appeared to be the effect of aphrodisiac substances.

No injuries were found on either of their bodies, and apart from their fingerprints, no third-party fingerprints were detected.

The bodyguards and medical staff who brought them wore gloves and left no marks on them.

The situation at the scene was quickly documented.

Inside the room, the footprints were chaotic, but aside from the bodyguards’ footprints, there was no sign of any external presence. Analysis of all surveillance footage basically ruled out the possibility of outsiders entering their room. According to Chen Jiahai’s bodyguard’s account, they didn’t notice any unusual occurrences. If there were outsiders entering, it would have been impossible for them not to notice.

All of Chen Jiahai’s bodyguards were detained and separated for custody.

Each was questioned by two police officers.

After questioning, each bodyguard relayed the situation as roughly the same.

Based on the bodyguards’ testimonies, the police essentially reconstructed the sequence of events.

Around eight thirty last night, Chen Jiahai and Lu Xiaoying returned to the apartment building; after entering, the bodyguards no longer had contact with them. Only by this morning around ten did they find it unusual that Chen Jiahai hadn’t come out, prompting them to knock on the door, which got no response.

Initially, they thought perhaps Chen Jiahai and Lu Xiaoying had been too vigorous in their activities last night and couldn’t get up today, so they hesitated to use forceful measures.

After spending over an hour, they confirmed something was wrong and broke in.

Upon breaking in, they found Chen Jiahai and Lu Xiaoying naked and dead on the sofa, which frightened the bodyguards, prompting them to immediately notify the Chen Family.

They dared not report directly to the police, letting several masters of the Chen Family decide how to handle this matter.

The time when Chen Jiahai was found dead on the sofa was ten minutes to noon.

After informing Chen Yining, the Chen Family reported to the police, while Chen Jiahai was first taken to the hospital.
