The call was from Wuyue.

Wuyue told Luo Ziling that Ling Ruonan had encountered a car accident on her way home after an evening engagement.

A car lost control and crashed into their convoy at high speed. Although the bodyguards made an effort to evade in time, they were waiting at a traffic light at an intersection where other vehicles blocked their maneuverability. Ling Ruonan’s vehicle still ended up getting hit.

Wuyue didn’t mention whether Ling Ruonan was injured, but Luo Ziling was already horrified. Without a single word of explanation, he bolted out.

He rushed downstairs from the second floor of the private room at lightning speed and beckoned who was waiting, Yang Xiaodong, to leave immediately.

Yang Xiaodong, who had already been informed, was about to notify Luo Ziling. Seeing Luo Ziling rush down, he said nothing further and started the car to drive away at once.

Remaining behind in the café for protection were Lin and another bodyguard. When Yang Xiaodong left, he instructed Lin to ensure Luo Yuqing’s safety against any diversionary tactics aimed at attacking Luo Yuqing.

Luo Ziling personally ordered Lin to escort Dai Shulan and Luo Yuqing back to school shortly, not letting them linger outside.

Both Luo Yuqing and Dai Shulan hadn’t expected such a sudden departure from Luo Ziling after just taking a phone call—without any explanation—and were left in stunned silence.

"What’s going on?" Dai Shulan was the first to snap out of it. "Why did Ziling just leave like that?"

"Something must have happened," Luo Yuqing also came to her senses but didn’t call Luo Ziling. Instead, she called Lin.

Upon receiving the call, Lin immediately came up to the private room.

"Miss, let’s go," Lin said directly after entering the room. "Young Master instructed that we return to school early."

"What happened?" Luo Yuqing frowned. "Where’s Yang Xiaodong?"

Lin glanced at Dai Shulan but didn’t answer.

"Fine, let’s head back then," Luo Yuqing didn’t press further. She picked up her bag and spoke to Dai Shulan, "Let’s talk more about the adaptation of your work another day. Rest early tonight."

Dai Shulan didn’t ask anything and simply nodded lightly. After gathering her belongings, she left the café together with Luo Yuqing.

After settling the bill, Luo Yuqing instructed Lin to take her and Dai Shulan back to school.

Only after seeing Dai Shulan safely enter the girls’ dormitory did Luo Yuqing ask Lin, "Exactly what happened?"

Lin didn’t hold back, explaining the situation to Luo Yuqing: "Madam was in a car accident. The young master hurried to her side."

"What?!" Luo Yuqing was taken aback. "How bad is it? Is Mrs. Ling hurt?"

Lin shook his head. "Still unclear for now."

Lin nodded lightly and instructed the other bodyguard to drive out of the campus.

After a soft reminder from the other bodyguard, Lin turned to inform Luo Ziling, "They’re back at the villa."

Luo Yuqing let out a small sigh of relief. "Then it shouldn’t be too serious."

Feeling slightly reassured, Luo Yuqing called Luo Ziling to inquire about specifics.

But Luo Ziling didn’t pick up her call, causing her sense of unease to return.

When Luo Yuqing arrived at Ling Ruonan’s villa in a rush, she found a large crowd gathered outside.

Among the crowd were some familiar faces, as well as many others she had never seen before.

Seeing so many people at the entrance made Luo Yuqing’s anxiety surge again.

She pushed through the group and entered the living room, immediately spotting Wuyue standing upstairs near the door to Ling Ruonan’s room. Luo Yuqing hurried over to ask about the situation. "Wuyue, what happened? Where is Mrs. Ling?"

"She’s mildly injured. Ziling is in there helping her with treatment," Wuyue replied in a hushed tone.

Looking at Wuyue’s worried expression, Luo Yuqing didn’t ask further.

A short while later, Luo Ziling emerged from the room.

Seeing Luo Yuqing and Wuyue standing together at the door, Luo Ziling immediately approached them.

"My mom only has minor injuries—a swollen forehead from the impact, some scraped skin, and was shaken up a bit. Nothing serious," Luo Ziling explained proactively before they could ask. "She was wearing her seatbelt; otherwise, the injuries could’ve been more severe. I’ve already calmed her through massage so she could sleep. She should be fine after a good rest."

Hearing this, Wuyue and Luo Yuqing finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Wuyue hesitated, then spoke in front of Luo Yuqing: "The incident happened at an intersection. We were waiting at a red light with only a few cars around. Suddenly, a high-speed SUV charged in, crashing into the car Madam was riding in from the side. The driver reacted swiftly to evade, and the vehicles behind shielded the impact. But due to the number of cars at the intersection, complete avoidance wasn’t possible. Thankfully, the car directly shielding the impact sustained heavy damage. Two bodyguards were seriously injured. The SUV’s collision was intense, leaving the offending vehicle wrecked, and the driver, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was thrown out. He died on the spot. Police reports from the scene indicate a strong smell of alcohol on the deceased, leading to preliminary confirmation of drunk driving. "I don’t think this was an ordinary accident," Luo Ziling stated firmly with a frown. "Even without concrete evidence, I suspect this was a deliberate attack aimed to harm my mom. From now on, you must thoroughly investigate this, uncover the truth no matter what."

"Yes, Young Master," Wuyue responded, lowering her head in guilt. "Young Master, I failed to protect the Madam’s safety. Please punish me if you see fit."

Just yesterday, Wuyue had reminded Luo Ziling to stay vigilant. With tensions brewing like a storm over Yanjing, she hadn’t expected Ling Ruonan’s safety to be jeopardized, leaving her deeply regretful.

"You did well enough as it is," Luo Ziling reassured her, patting Wuyue’s shoulder. "Make arrangements to get my mom a new car."

Before Wuyue could reply, a commotion downstairs drew their attention. Turning to look, they saw Ouyang Feifei arrive.

Dressed in professional attire, Ouyang Feifei had none of her usual composure. She dashed upstairs and urgently asked Luo Ziling, "How is Mrs. Ling? Was she seriously hurt?"

"Just minor injuries. I’ve treated her already; she’s fine. I hypnotized her to ensure she gets proper rest," Luo Ziling answered Ouyang Feifei and then directed Wuyue, "Handle the car matter quickly."

"Understood," Wuyue replied and prepared to leave.

"You want to get your mom a new car?" Ouyang Feifei asked Luo Ziling. After Luo Ziling confirmed, she offered, "How about taking my car for now? I have several spares, and they’re all equipped similarly. Trust me, don’t reject this, okay?"
