Chapter 1455: Chapter 1455 Ling Ruonan’s Teachings
Seeing Luo Ziling’s puzzled expression, Ling Ruonan smiled and said, "Do you think it’s possible for me to let you take over the position of Sect Leader of the Northern Group right now?"
Luo Ziling shook his head. "Of course not, because I have zero management experience!"
Ling Ruonan asked again, "Then how long do you think it takes to cultivate someone into a cooperative corporate leader?"
"Many years, maybe even a lifetime, and some might never become a qualified leader." Luo Ziling chuckled as he spoke. "It’s possible that I might never fit that role. After all, I didn’t go to school and never had exposure to corporate management."
"That’s right—you might never become a qualified senior corporate manager," Ling Ruonan said with a slight sigh. "I’ve considered that, but it’s not very important. What really matters is your ability to adapt and react. Education isn’t crucial; experience is. Do you understand what I mean?"
"So, today you called me to attend this meeting without prior notice, and then had me give a report in front of so many senior managers, all with less than half an hour to prepare. You weren’t trying to figure out how I would win them over, but rather testing my adaptability, isn’t that right?"
"Exactly correct!" Ling Ruonan nodded, a trace of a smile appearing on her face. "This isn’t the first time I’ve tested you like this. Fortunately, your performance was outstanding—beyond my expectations. You didn’t disappoint me; you even surprised me."
"Mom, since I’m your son, I must have inherited some of your brilliance. No way I’d be mediocre, wouldn’t you agree?"
Seeing Luo Ziling’s cheeky, unserious expression as he said this, Ling Ruonan shot him a glare and said in exasperation, "Just one word of praise and you’re already like this? I really don’t know where you get your sense of accomplishment!"
"Mom, wasn’t I complimenting you?" Luo Ziling continued buttering her up with a grin. "It’s because you’re exceptional that you could have a son as smart as me!"
"Stop with your nonsense," Ling Ruonan glared at him again before saying, "In the past, I didn’t want you out in the open, afraid others might target you. But now I understand—the more I hide you, the more brazen they get. On the contrary, by pushing you into the spotlight, you’ll actually be safer. That’s why I’m working hard to bring you to the forefront, letting people see that you’ve already appeared in Yanjing and are preparing to step onto the stage of history. And you’re so outstanding—far better than any of those spoiled brats. As long as you showcase your excellence and prove you’re superior, others will recognize and respect you. They’ll be wary of crossing you and won’t dare act recklessly against you. In the future, no matter what responsibilities are entrusted to you, no one would dare challenge your authority."
"Mom, you really think things through," Luo Ziling said with a bitter smile. "I’m still just a student, in my innocent years, yet you’re already throwing me into matches with all of you ’master-level’ figures. Really ruthless of you!"
"Is that how you talk about your mother?" Ling Ruonan reached out and pinched Luo Ziling.
Luo Ziling caught hold of Ling Ruonan’s hand, squeezed it tightly, and said with emotion, "Mom, I understand your intentions now. You’re giving Yuqing and me opportunities to grow and train so that in a few years we’ll be capable of handling things independently. Don’t worry, we’ll work hard to share your burdens and ultimately turn our Luo Family into a force that no one can underestimate. Let’s work together!"
Ling Ruonan hesitated for a moment before smiling faintly and saying, "Some things are better said slowly. It’s too early to reveal them now."
"What things?" Luo Ziling asked, puzzled.
"We’ll talk about it later," Ling Ruonan said, leaning back slightly. "Alright, there’s nothing urgent today. If you have your own matters to attend to, go take care of them. Has Yang Qingyin returned yet?"
"Yes," Luo Ziling nodded. "She’s adjusting to the time difference over the next couple of days. Tomorrow I’m planning to go with her to visit her grandfather."
Ling Ruonan thought for a moment and nodded lightly. "It’s good for you to accompany her."
"Mom, I’m planning to go buy groceries this afternoon and cook dinner for you. Why don’t we invite her to join us for dinner?"
Ling Ruonan looked at Luo Ziling. In the end, she didn’t refuse and nodded in agreement.
After thinking it over, Luo Ziling reminded her, "Let’s not invite Ouyang Feifei; it could be awkward."
"Alright," Ling Ruonan sighed, hesitated, and then asked Luo Ziling, "But aren’t you getting along well with Ouyang Feifei?"
Luo Ziling didn’t answer directly but instead asked, "Mom, if you chose Ouyang Feifei as your daughter-in-law, wouldn’t you worry that your son could be manipulated by her, sold off, and even help her count the profit in the end?"
"That’s impossible," Ling Ruonan shook her head. "Actually, her personality is quite similar to mine. Although she’s strong-willed and has a calculating mind, deep down she’s quite traditional. All these years, I’ve never heard of her being involved in scandals or showing interest in any man. The only man she’s close to is you. If you married her, how could she manipulate you? She’d certainly center her world around you."
"Mom, this is all your fault. If you hadn’t made me go to her to cancel the engagement, none of this would’ve happened," Luo Ziling said with a bitter smile. "Your flip-flopping has only made things more complicated. If you change your mind again, it’ll get even more troublesome. You know better than anyone that marriage decisions lead to consequences that can’t easily be reversed. You’ve already learned this the hard way. So please, don’t force me—let me make my own choices, alright? Even if my choice is wrong, I won’t blame anyone. I’d find a way to fix things through my own efforts."
Ling Ruonan listened in silence for a long while. After Luo Ziling walked behind her and massaged her shoulders for a while, she finally nodded softly, "I understand. I will fully respect your feelings and won’t force you into anything. Perhaps you’ll make your decision soon because you’re smart enough to choose wisely."
"Thanks, Mom!"
"You’re my son. I already owe you too much. All I hope for is that you’ll live a happy life in the future. Remember one thing—no matter what I do, it’s never to hurt or torment you, but to see you happy and fulfilled. Every parent shares this same hope for their children. It’s just that sometimes, from our perspective, things may look different from yours. It’s about experience—when you’re older, your views might align with ours. That’s how people grow and mature over time. Perhaps, many choices only become clear at a certain age."
After saying this, Ling Ruonan paused, stood up, turned around, and sternly said to Luo Ziling, "But I hope you won’t waver between several women, nor will you toy with their feelings or hurt them. Until you’re ready to take responsibility for them, make sure to stay rational—whether it’s with Yang Qingyin, Ouyang Feifei, Ouyang Huihui, Chen Xiaoyi, or Lin Lan."
Ling Ruonan’s words struck Luo Ziling deeply, leaving him speechless.
