After Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun left, Luo Ziling was just about to go back inside when Wuyue, who had just left, unexpectedly showed up again.

Luo Ziling ignored him and headed straight back into the house.

But just as he was about to push the door open, Wuyue blocked his way.

"Young Master, what did you ask them to do?" Wuyue asked softly.

"It has nothing to do with you," Luo Ziling was still holding a grudge against Wuyue’s cold attitude earlier, so his tone was less than friendly, "Just stick to your own duties. And one more thing you need to remember, she’s my mom. My bond with her is closer than yours. Got it?"

With that, he ignored Wuyue, pushed open the door, and entered the house.

Wuyue stood there stunned, unable to recover herself for quite a while.

In the end, she didn’t follow him inside nor did she try to explain anything to Luo Ziling. Frustrated, she turned and left.

Ling Ruonan was inside the house blow-drying her hair. When she saw Luo Ziling come in, she immediately turned off the hairdryer.

"Go take a shower and get some early rest!" Ling Ruonan didn’t ask where Luo Ziling had gone earlier, she simply said with eyes full of affection, "You’ve been busy all day, rest up early!"

Earlier today, Luo Ziling had gone to the market to buy groceries and then cooked up a lavish dinner for everyone. Ling Ruonan was worried he might have overexerted himself.

Moreover, she wanted some quiet time alone to learn more details from Wuyue, so she told Luo Ziling to go shower and get some rest.

Luo Ziling had initially intended to tell Ling Ruonan about what had happened earlier in the evening, but he didn’t want her to feel any mental burden because of it. Realizing she didn’t seem interested in discussing the evening events, he didn’t insist.

However, before heading off to take his shower, he briefly mentioned the matter of sending Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun on an errand.

"Mom, I had Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun go out tonight to stir things up a bit. Since they’ve used tactics like this against us, we can’t just sit back and take it. If we hadn’t taken precautions today and Yuqing had gone back home alone, she might’ve been in real danger. I don’t want to tolerate this kind of thing."

Ling Ruonan hadn’t expected Luo Ziling’s outing to involve this matter. Without consulting her, he had sent Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun to plan a counter-strike. It made her realize she may have underestimated her son’s determination.

"Alright, let them take care of it then," she finally said.

She wasn’t planning to criticize Luo Ziling for his impulsiveness, and in fact, she hoped that stirring things up might lead somewhere productive.

Since Luo Ziling had already made arrangements, she decided to let matters unfold and observe what results would come out of it.

Luo Ziling returned to his room, took a shower, and then sent Luo Yuqing a message.

"Sis, where are you now?"

"I’m home," Luo Yuqing replied quickly, "I’m chatting with Lin right now."

Lin was the bodyguard assigned to Luo Yuqing, who accompanied her tonight.

Earlier, Wuyue had changed into Luo Yuqing’s clothes to throw off any pursuers, while Luo Yuqing had swapped into another outfit and left for home under Lin’s escort. For the time being, Lin was now responsible for Luo Yuqing’s safety.

Luo Yuqing hadn’t initially been concerned about having a bodyguard, but after learning from Wuyue that someone had targeted her tonight, she was a bit rattled. Still unsure of the details, she began asking Lin—that went home with her—to explain.

Lin, however, had little knowledge of the specifics and didn’t provide her with much information.

Luo Yuqing pressed for answers from the somewhat acne-speckled but otherwise pretty young woman, yet after failing to get the information she wanted, she had no choice but to drop the matter.

Just then, Luo Ziling’s message arrived, and after replying back, she quickly asked him what was going on.

"Someone tried to take your life. They sent six people after you, but our team managed to injure and capture several of them. The investigation is still ongoing, though it may not yield clear answers as to who was behind it," Luo Ziling didn’t hold back and told Luo Yuqing the general situation.

"How could this happen?" Luo Yuqing, though shocked, believed what Luo Ziling said, "Could it be because I’ve officially become part of the Luo Family as their daughter, and they want to kill me for it?"

Luo Ziling didn’t reply via text; instead, he called her directly.

"That’s not the reason—or at least not the main one. The fact that you might be my sister has been rumored for a while, so this isn’t really a new revelation. The primary reason is that some people want to create chaos—they aim to stir up trouble and throw everything into disarray. Of course, they wouldn’t hesitate to kill you, just as they’ve tried multiple times to assassinate me. That’s why you need to be extra careful."

"Ugh, who would’ve thought that becoming your sister would bring so many problems!" Luo Yuqing sighed.

Luo Ziling gave a wry smile, "Back when I was in a remote mountain village in the Northwest, my life was carefree. But at that time, what I really wanted was to come to Yanjing and meet my mom. I never imagined that after coming here, I’d be constantly chased down, time and time again. I guess this is the price one pays for gains. But don’t worry, I’ll make sure those people get a taste of their own medicine. I’ll make them understand that if they dare to threaten us again like this, they’ll lose even more—perhaps even their lives."

"Alright, I’ll be careful," Luo Yuqing, who had initially resisted having a bodyguard, accepted the arrangement after hearing what Luo Ziling said.

The siblings didn’t chat for long. After covering these matters, they ended the call.

While Luo Ziling and Luo Yuqing were on the phone, elsewhere, two people were discussing the same incident.
