Chapter 1282: Chapter 1282: Man Hits Woman

After a lie-in, the two of them didn’t get up until almost ten o’clock.

When they got up, Ye Xiaoli, Yang Xiaodong, and Wang Zhenjun had already risen early.

After freshening up, Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin came out to see Yang Xiaodong, Wang Zhenjun, and Ye Xiaoli all seated in the living room outside.

The three of them cast peculiar glances their way when they saw Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin emerge.

Yang Qingyin couldn’t help feeling terribly embarrassed at the gossip-filled looks in their eyes.

However, she wasn’t foolish enough to feel the need to explain why they slept together last night.

Such a thing, there’s no use explaining; let them think what they will!

Yang Xiaodong, Wang Zhenjun, and Ye Xiaoli had already finished breakfast, and they had brought breakfast back for Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin.

Originally, Luo Ziling wanted to take Yang Qingyin out for breakfast, but seeing that they had breakfast leftovers, he settled for eating that.

“Ziling, how about we go play at Howling Mountain today?” Yang Qingyin changed her mind during breakfast, “Your grandfather will be arriving in Yuezhou this afternoon, let’s accompany the old man to tour the city for the next few days. He’ll probably tell us a lot of interesting stories.”

After pondering, Luo Ziling agreed to Yang Qingyin’s suggestion.

Howling Mountain is more than a dozen kilometers away from Yuezhou’s city center. It is a scenic area formed from the accumulation of random stones after ancient humans quarried them, much like Donghu Lake in Yuezhou. Nowadays, many peach and plum trees are planted there. The scenery should be quite nice during winter and spring, and it’s not crowded.

With Luo Ziling’s agreement, the other three naturally had no objections.

So, Yang Xiaodong drove, with Wang Zhenjun in the passenger seat, and the other three sat in the back, heading straight towards Howling Mountain.

Last night, Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun knew that Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin had slept in the same room.

At first, they wore teasing expressions and wanted to crack a few jokes, but after being scolded by Luo Ziling, they dared not say any more.

However, the two guys wouldn’t give up so easily, and they switched tactics, beating around the bush gossiping about last night’s events.

Yang Xiaodong asked Yang Qingyin if she could manage climbing at Howling Mountain; if not, Luo Ziling could carry her up.

Seeing the lewd expressions on Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun’s faces, both Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin knew what the two were thinking.

Yang Qingyin’s face turned red, while Luo Ziling was somewhat vexed, he couldn’t help but threaten, “Keep spouting nonsense, and when I go back, I’ll find my dad in Jinling and tell him all about your misconduct, then he’ll have you transferred somewhere else.”

Luo Ziling’s threat was quite effective, the two gossip-lovers immediately shut their mouths.

Although Yuezhou is quite renowned, it’s still a small city.

In Jiangnan Province, the provincial capital Qiantang is the largest city, with Yong City and Wen City being the second and third largest respectively, yet Yuezhou, despite being a prefectural-level city and the former capital of the Ancient Yue Country, doesn’t even rank as the fourth largest city in the South.

However, small cities have their own charm, at least there aren’t too many people, industrialization isn’t too rampant, and both the environment and the old charm are well-preserved. Anyway, after Luo Ziling had a quick look around, he grew to like this place.

Of course, his fondness was also related to his hometown being here.

This season, not many people go out of the city to Howling Mountain, so the road was pretty clear, and in less than half an hour, Howling Mountain was within sight.

But as they were about to arrive at the scenic area, they encountered a traffic jam.

The jam wasn’t too serious, about a dozen cars could be seen stopped in front, with horns honking incessantly.

“What’s going on?” Yang Xiaodong furrowed his brows.

“I’m going to take a look,” Wang Zhenjun said as he pushed open the car door and got out.

A moment later, he hurried back and called out to Yang Xiaodong, “Come over and take a look, it seems that someone is bullying a woman and a child.”

“What happened?” Luo Ziling asked quickly.

“A group of men driving luxury cars are beating up a frail woman. The woman’s child is crying loudly in the car,” Wang Zhenjun replied, “It looks like those guys have been drinking, and it all started with a car scratch.”

“You guys stay in the car, I’ll go and check it out,” Luo Ziling immediately pushed open the car door to get out and instructed Yang Qingyin and Ye Xiaoli to stay inside the car.

Yang Qingyin and Ye Xiaoli also got out of the car, ready to join the others and see what the fuss was about.

Seeing that the two women had also exited the car, the driver Yang Xiaodong turned off the engine, locked the car, and followed behind them as they ran over.

As Luo Ziling and Wang Zhenjun quickly approached the scene of the conflict, they saw one man with a flushed face, obviously drunk, grabbing the woman’s hair and threatening her arrogantly.

The woman screamed in pain.

She had just been slapped by another man, the corner of her mouth bloody, looking extremely pitiful.

There were many onlookers enjoying the commotion, including tourists and nearby villagers. Some couldn’t stand it and stepped forward to mediate.

However, those who tried to intervene were all scared off by the group.

A tourist from out of town was even kicked by one of them, was startled, hastily retreated, and was eventually pulled back behind the crowd by his wife.

The woman, with her hair grabbed by the man, dared not struggle too much but still showed toughness kicking the man wildly, cursing him for being shameless while doing so.

The man holding the woman’s hair got kicked several times, which made his anger flare even more. He pushed the woman away so that she was facing away from him, preventing her from kicking him.

This way, the woman, with her hair pulled back, faced outward, helpless under the man’s control, and unable to hit him anymore.

At that point, two other men came over and grabbed the woman’s arms, rendering her unable to move.

With both hands pulled back by the two men, the woman had to lean forward.

But she continued to struggle defiantly, calling out to the bystanders for help, hoping someone would come forward and also dial the police.

However, no one dared to step forward to help.

After the people who initially tried to help were beaten, the onlookers simply stood far away, not daring to get any closer.

Someone tried to make a police call, but was quickly discovered by the group — their cell phone was snatched away and smashed to pieces on the ground.

As Luo Ziling moved forward with Wang Zhenjun, they witnessed three men restraining the woman, while another snatched a cell phone from a bystander attempting to call the police, throwing it on the ground and crushing it.

He immediately got angry, ordered Wang Zhenjun to join him in stepping forward to first rescue the woman, then subdue these people.

As they briskly moved towards the group, Luo Ziling got a clear look at the woman being bullied by the men.

The woman looked familiar. After thinking carefully, he finally remembered, the beaten woman was someone he knew.

He had encountered her at a medical seminar, and had some exchanges with her, a somewhat familiar doctor from Yuezhou People’s Hospital, Li Yufeng.

What a coincidence!
