Chapter 1214 - Chapter 1214 Chapter 1214 What is the Purpose

Chapter 1214: Chapter 1214: What is the Purpose? Chapter 1214: Chapter 1214: What is the Purpose? When Luo Ziling had just finished the phone call, a car with ordinary license plates drove to the scene, and a somewhat overweight middle-aged man got out of the car.

Several police officers recognized the man as a relatively high-ranking local official.

“Director Liu, these people beat us; you must help us seek justice,” seeing the middle-aged man get out of the car, the gang leader who didn’t dare squeak in front of the police, like seeing a savior, quickly got up to seek help.

“Ah, there’s someone here to back you up again,” Yang Xiaodong grew a bit angry, kicked the gang leader away, walked up to the so-called Director Liu, and said coldly, “If you want to keep your ‘cap,’ better leave here quietly without meddling.”

Director Liu was stunned, not expecting to encounter such a defiant person today and immediately got quite angry, “Who are you to yell at me like this?”

“Say one more word, and see if I don’t beat you too?” After knowing that Huang Long was Huang Chen’s elder brother, Yang Xiaodong had no reservations.

“You…”

“What ‘you’… Get lost!” Yang Xiaodong barked rudely.

However, after getting a meaningful look from Luo Ziling, he restrained himself and took out his credentials, showing them to Director Liu, “This matter is none of your concern.”

Seeing Yang Xiaodong’s credentials, Director Liu was hugely startled.

At that moment, Yang Xiaodong kicked the gang leader, who had barely managed to get up, back down again.

The startled Director Liu didn’t know what to do; meanwhile, the leading police officer hurried to his side and whispered to him.

After listening, Director Liu broke into a sweat.

“Sorry, then I won’t interfere with your investigation,” said Director Liu as he hurried into his car and left.

“This person is a superior’s brother,” knowing Luo Ziling didn’t want to escalate the situation, Yang Xiaodong straightforwardly revealed the identity, “He brought his mother to Yanjing for medical treatment, and our superior couldn’t accompany them. Unfortunately, he was beaten up by some thugs while out shopping and was blackmailed. Now, we’re seeking compensation from these troublemakers; there’s no issue, right?”

Yang Xiaodong spoke pointing to the badly beaten Huang Long, “Look at him; he’s injured so badly, one of his legs is even crippled.”

The police were in a difficult position; they found it hard to handle.

Suddenly, the phone of the gang leader who couldn’t get up rang.

His phone had fallen out of his pocket when he was knocked down, and it landed right in front of him.

He saw the incoming call number when the phone rang.

After checking the caller ID, ignoring his body’s pain, he answered the phone.

After listening for a while, his expression changed.

“We’re willing to compensate,” he said mournfully, “We admit our mistake today and are willing to face punishment.”

The police hadn’t expected the gang leader to back down, but they also breathed a sigh of relief.

If the thugs were willing to compensate, that meant both parties involved in the disturbance had reached a compensation agreement, and the case could be concluded.

“Fine, transfer the money immediately, and we won’t pursue this matter further,” Yang Xiaodong made the decision on behalf of Luo Ziling promptly, but then immediately said to the police, “These thugs probably do this kind of thing often, don’t they? How come you police never deal with it?”

“Previously there was no evidence, and someone always spoke for them,” the leading police officer said helplessly, “But this time, we’ll ensure justice is served and pursue their criminal responsibility.”

“We just did our civic duty, defending an honest peasant who got mobbed by so many people, so we had to intervene. I didn’t expect so many of them to appear; like a gang!” Yang Xiaodong said cheerfully.

This comment changed the policemen’s expressions.

If they consider these people to be a gang, then the problem becomes serious.

If such a situation was allowed to develop, not only would they run into trouble, but their higher-ups would face massive problems, too.

The police officer immediately ordered his subordinates to detain everyone and called for backup to take all the thugs away.

This police officer hadn’t seen Yang Xiaodong’s credentials, but from the way Director Liu ran off scared, and Yang Xiaodong’s high-profile actions, he could tell these were not people to trifle with easily.

If these people reported that they thought this group was part of a gang, then these local police officers would be in trouble.

During Yang Xiaodong’s entire intervention, Luo Ziling had been sitting next to Huang Long without making any comments.

He found it strange and wondered why Yang Xiaodong was overly excited and high-profile today.

What was this guy up to?

As he pondered, Yang Qingyin sat next to him.

“Yang Xiaodong is really a clever person.”

“What do you mean?” Luo Ziling felt puzzled.

“Haven’t you figured it out yet?” Yang Qingyin rolled her eyes. “He wants to blow up the issue but keep it under control, making his identity known. Plus, he wants people to know that this is Old Mr. Ling’s Confidential Secretary’s elder brother. This way, Huang Chen will gain recognition through this minor incident today as being associated with you all. At least, many in the Ling Family will hesitate over this, because whatever Huang Chen says before Old Mr. Ling will carry more weight than what most other people say.”

After saying this, Yang Qingyin added, “It’s better to drag this matter out longer; it’ll be great if Huang Chen can show up.”

Although Yang Qingyin didn’t spell everything out clearly, Luo Ziling understood her meaning.

“Senior sister is quite clever,” Luo Ziling chuckled.

“Not like a certain junior brother who’s slow,” Yang Qingyin glanced at Luo Ziling, “Call Huang Chen and see if he’s coming over. If he is, then drag this matter out longer and make it bigger; if not, then wrap it up sooner since the other side has already cowered.”

Luo Ziling agreed with Yang Qingyin’s conjecture, took out his phone, and prepared to call Huang Chen to inquire about the situation.

But before he could make the call, Huang Chen called first.

“I’m on my way over now; where are you?” Huang Chen’s voice sounded rushed.

“We’re still at the scene; police are here, and these thugs’ backing too,” Luo Ziling replied.

“Alright, I’ll be there shortly,” Huang Chen said and then hung up.

Luo Ziling didn’t say anything to Yang Xiaodong and continued to sit and watch the drama unfold.

In less than ten minutes, a military vehicle driven by Huang Chen arrived at the scene.

Seeing Huang Chen in military uniform getting out of this specially licensed vehicle, everyone’s expressions changed except for Luo Ziling and his friends.
