Chapter 253: Chapter 253: Taking an Apprentice_1
Ning Fan got into the black sedan, tried driving it, and although he hadn’t driven much, his far superior senses and reflexes meant he mastered the vehicle as if he had been driving for decades.
Soon, he drove the car to his newly purchased villa.
As he got out and walked to the entrance, a dark shadow suddenly rushed over from the side.
Ning Fan’s brows furrowed, ready to backhand a palm strike.
But the shadow stopped about a meter away from him.
Taking a closer look, Ning Fan realized it was Han Shuang’er—the young woman who had previously attempted to assassinate Yuan Huaiyi.
"Have you been following me?" Ning Fan asked.
"Yes," Shuang’er nodded, locking eyes with Ning Fan.
"You can’t kill Yuan and you want to kill me? But you can’t beat me either," Ning Fan said.
"True, I can’t beat you, my strength is... far less than yours," Shuang’er said gravely.
"Then why are you looking for me?" Ning Fan asked.
"I am here to ask you to take me as your disciple! Please accept me as your apprentice!"
Shuang’er immediately kneeled before Ning Fan, pleading earnestly.
"You want to be my disciple?" Ning Fan asked in surprise.
"Yes, I want to learn skills from you, to become stronger!" Shuang’er declared emphatically.
"And then? To attempt to kill Yuan again? Do you think I would agree to that?" Ning Fan said with a mix of laughter and seriousness.
"Yuan Huaiyi is nothing but an ungrateful, despicable, and shameless villain!" Shuang’er said angrily.
"Yuan is not the scoundrel you describe," Ning Fan shook his head.
"That’s because you know only one side of the story! Hadn’t my grandfather saved him, Yuan would have been long dead. Yet, after all we did, he turned his back on us and killed my grandfather with his own hands..." Shuang’er said in grief and indignation.
With Shuang’er’s explanation, Ning Fan began to understand the grievances involved.
As it turned out, Yuan Huaiyi had gotten separated from his main unit and was close to death from his wounds when he was rescued by Han Feihu, Shuang’er’s grandfather.
Han Feihu ruled over Wolong Mountain as the mountain king and saved Yuan Huaiyi’s life. During the time Yuan Huaiyi was recuperating, Han Feihu came to admire him and even swore brotherhood with him.
However, Han Feihu was later influenced by a villain who convinced him to try to kill Yuan Huaiyi. Yuan couldn’t explain himself and, in a fit of rage, tried to kill the schemer but accidentally killed Han Feihu...
Of course, according to Shuang’er’s story, Yuan Huaiyi wanted to seize the leadership of the mountain, so he killed her grandfather.
But Ning Fan knew that with Yuan Huaiyi’s status, he would not covet the position of a mountain overlord.
After hearing Shuang’er’s side, Ning Fan said in a deep voice, "I cannot judge the disputes of the older generation, but Yuan is ultimately an old hero who fought for the country. I cannot teach you skills to then let you kill him."
"If you won’t take me as your disciple, then I’ll use all means to kill him to avenge my grandfather! I know Yuan family’s bodyguards are powerful, but as long as I live, I’ll make sure to kill him! Even if it means shattering to pieces! This was my father’s last wish before he died, and if I can’t fulfill it, I won’t have the face to meet him and my grandfather even in death!"
Shuang’er said, with tears streaming down her face.
"Sigh,"
Ning Fan sighed. Shuang’er wasn’t of a bad nature; she was just blinded by the hatred of the previous generations. And suddenly, Ning Fan saw a glimmer of Lin Xiaoling in her.
After thinking for a moment, Ning Fan said, "Okay, I’ll accept you as my disciple, but I have one condition: You must not make another move against Yuan before you are ready to graduate as a disciple."
"Alright! I agree! Master, please, accept your disciple’s bow!"
Shuang’er was overjoyed and promptly kowtowed three times without hesitation.
"Stand up,"
Ning Fan nodded and walked into the villa.
Shuang’er got up, wiped away her tears, and followed him in.
Click!
As Ning Fan opened the front door, he was stunned.
Standing in front of him were Xu Yourong and Su Qingcheng.
Xu Yourong wore a red dress, fiery like a rose.
Su Qingcheng wore a white dress, pure as a peony.
The red rose and white peony, one hot and one cold, dazzling in their brilliance!
"Ning Fan, why are you only just getting back?" Xu Yourong asked with a hint of complaint.
"Hmm, just bought a luxury house, a luxury car, and now brought back a woman? Tsk tsk! Ning Fan, oh Ning Fan, you really can do it, eh? In just half a day in the provincial city, you’ve got yourself a house, car, and woman all lined up?"
Su Qingcheng spoke with a hint of taunt, glancing at the car parked by the roadside and then at Shuang’er.
"This car wasn’t bought by me; it was given to me by someone else. However, I have already returned something of even greater value to them."
"Her name is Shuang’er, my newly accepted disciple."
"Shuang’er, this is Xu Yourong, my girlfriend; this one is Su Qingcheng, my girlfriend’s best friend."
Ning Fan introduced them calmly.
"Miss Xu, Miss Su, nice to meet you," Shuang’er greeted the two.
"Hello, Shuang’er," Xu Yourong responded with a smile and a nod.
Su Qingcheng, however, sneered and said, "Ning Fan, you’ve just arrived in the provincial city, who would know you? Who would give you such an expensive car? That’s a high-end Mercedes Maybach S-Class, isn’t it? It costs several million! You couldn’t possibly have been flaunting Xu Yourong’s name around here to hoodwink others into giving you a car, could you?"
"And this Miss Shuang’er, your disciple? Ning Fan, you’re really getting ahead of yourself now, huh? Daring to take disciples? Don’t you know..."
Before Su Qingcheng could finish and before Ning Fan had a chance to respond, Shuang’er couldn’t hold back any longer, stepped forward, and retorted with dissatisfaction, "Miss Su, if I may ask, which eye did you see my master flaunting Miss Xu’s name to swindle someone into giving him a car? If you didn’t witness it yourself, please don’t make such accusations! Making false accusations is libel!"
"As for taking on a disciple, I have another question for you—do you know my master’s strength? With my master’s capability, why is it considered arrogance for him to accept disciples? By what standard can my master not take disciples?"
Shuang’er was quick-witted and sharp-tongued, her words bursting forth like firecrackers, leaving Su Qingcheng with a white face and at a loss for words.
