Chapter 170: Chapter 170: Depths of the Underground Palace_1
When Ning Fan and his group arrived near the Underground Palace on the outskirts of the city, it was already dark.
From a distance, in the darkness, two flickering lights emerged from the entrance of the Underground Palace, creating an eerie and terrifying atmosphere.
The trio approached the entrance of the Underground Palace, about to enter when two men dressed in black stopped them.
The men were holding flashlights, which were the same points of light they had seen from afar.
"This is not a place you cand enter, please leave."
One of the men in black said coldly.
"We can’t enter? Why?" Ge Tiangang frowned.
"Because it’s dangerous inside, we’re not letting you in for your own safety," said the man in black.
"Is that so? We’ll take care of our own safety, so you needn’t worry about us," Ning Fan said indifferently, and took a step to walk inside.
"Stop!"
"Don’t move!"
The two men in black actually drew guns at the same time and pointed them at Ning Fan, sneering, "Make one more move, and you’ll be risking your lives!"
"I see you’re also here for the Blood Lingzhi, right?" Ning Fan said directly.
"So you know too? But it’s no use; you’re too late! The Blood Lingzhi inside this Underground Palace has already been claimed by our young miss!"
Seeing Ning Fan lay things out in the open, the two men in black stopped concealing their intentions and spoke with unchecked arrogance.
"The treasures within the Underground Palace belong to no one in particular; who is your young miss to claim it just like that? Isn’t that a bit too overbearing?" Ning Fan retorted with a cold laugh.
"So what if it’s overbearing? Are you not convinced? If you’re unconvinced, I don’t mind using bullets to make you submit!"
"If you want to live, then get the hell out of here!"
The two men in black were unscrupulously vicious. While Ning Fan was still composed, Xu Yourong had already furrowed her brows tightly; had it not been for the sinister terror of the place, she would have lashed out already.
Just as Ning Fan was about to act and disarm the guns from their hands, suddenly, a woman’s scream faintly echoed from the depths of the Underground Palace, followed by constant gunfire, and even tremors.
"What’s happening? Has the young miss met with trouble?"
The two men in black were instantly horrified, no longer paying attention to Ning Fan and his group; they turned and rushed into the Underground Palace in panic.
...
Deep within the Underground Palace.
Shen Bingying watched the scene before her with despair.
She and several dozen of her men had just reached the edge between the inner sanctum and the outer sanctum of the Underground Palace, about to use machines such as air extractors to remove the special poisonous gases from the inner sanctum to allow entry and hunt for treasure.
However, they were suddenly attacked by many dark figures rushing out from the inner sanctum toward her men.
Whether bodyguard or Feng Shui Master, anyone who was pounced on by those dark figures immediately fell to the ground, wailing in agony; their bodies visibly shriveled rapidly, turning a living person into a mummy in just half a minute!
Whoosh!
A dark figure suddenly lunged at Shen Bingying.
"Miss, run away!"
The head of her bodyguards shot frantically at the dark figure.
Bang bang bang...
The gunfire echoed loudly in the enclosed Underground Palace, but it couldn’t harm the dark figures at all; the bullets went right through them without causing any damage.
Shen Bingying, terrified, stumbled backwards, watching as the head bodyguard was engulfed by a mass of darkness and rapidly mummified, his clothes loosening and falling off.
"Miss, quickly, go, go! These vengeful spirits are too powerful; we can’t hold them back..."
A Feng Shui Master beside her took out a Brass Compass, continuously trying to block the incoming dark aura.
But with each block, a crack appeared on the surface of the compass.
After more than a dozen times, the compass exploded into pieces with a pop.
The Feng Shui Master was then overwhelmed by several bunches of dark aura, struggling briefly before his life was drained, and he fell motionless to the ground, dead beyond any doubt.
The rest of her men were almost all knocked to the ground by the dark aura, either turned into mummies motionless or gasping their last breaths in a desperate final struggle.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh...
After killing the last Feng Shui Master in front of Shen Bingying, the dark auras rose slowly into mid-air, swirling and then lunging at her together.
"Ahh!!!"
"Help!!!
"I don’t want to die!!!"
Shen Bingying screamed, her legs gave out, and she sat down abruptly on the ground, then scrambled backwards with hands and feet on the ground in panic.
But her speed was negligible compared to the dark aura, which quickly caught up to her and was about to engulf her!
Swish!
At that moment, something the size of a palm suddenly flew from a distance and landed on Shen Bingying’s chest.
As Shen Bingying looked down terrified, she saw it was a palm-sized yellow Talisman Paper.
Hum!
The Talisman Paper emitted a faint hum and then a feeble light shield rose, enveloping her body.
The next second, the several bunches of dark aura crashed into the light shield.
Sizzle sizzle sizzle...
A sizzling sound like cold water splashing onto a hot pan rose; the dark auras were visibly evaporated, shrinking, dispersing!
"Hiss hiss hiss!"
The entities made a strange noise and rebounded away abruptly.
"What... what is this?"
Shen Bingying, collapsed on the ground, looked at the Talisman Paper on her chest and then turned her head toward the direction from which it had come.
She saw a young man approaching with brisk steps.
It was Ning Fan.
