The Young Master Storms the City
Chapter 1167: The Enemy of the Mother

Chapter 1167: Chapter 1167: The Enemy of the Mother

Ning Fan was startled, quite surprised, and had not anticipated this turn of events.

No wonder he had startled the other party earlier, who then became so furious.

If awakening meant certain death, he would also undoubtedly have slain the person who had disturbed his slumber.

"Senior, I was unaware of this situation..."

Before Ning Fan could finish speaking, the Fire Phoenix’s voice rose again.

"It’s alright. Ever since this formation took me as its foundation, I’ve known my plight. I have been in slumber all these years, only to see her one last time."

"Now I have not seen her, but I have met her descendant, which brings closure to one of my yearnings."

Seeing this, Ning Fan knew it was no use trying to persuade further.

Not to mention the wisp of spiritual power from the Fire Phoenix that had existed for who knows how many years, its lifespan was certainly much longer.

It must have long since come to terms with death, so there was nothing for him to say, although he still felt some regret.

After all, this was a rare encounter with a being that knew his mother.

"Senior, may I ask how you came to know my mother?" Ning Fan inquired.

The Fire Phoenix flapped its wings but did not answer Ning Fan’s question. Instead, it said indifferently, "I have known your mother from a time much longer ago than you can imagine, but for your safety, I cannot tell you."

"You cannot tell me?" Ning Fan was taken aback, "I respectfully ask the senior to clear my confusion."

The Fire Phoenix sighed, "That you are asking this question now indicates that your mother did not leave you these memories in her legacy. She certainly didn’t want you to know about those matters."

"I do not know if those people left a mark on your mother, but if they did, as soon as you come to know these matters, they will most likely find you."

"Therefore, I cannot disclose these things to you, but should you manage to find written records, you likely won’t be discovered."

Hearing this, Ning Fan was greatly startled.

From the description given by the Fire Phoenix, it clearly originated from the same place as his mother.

Although he had always suspected that his mother was not from this place—after all, even within Kunlun, he had not come across such mighty inheritances.

And if there truly were such powerful cultivators in the past, there would be some record of them.

Now confirmed by the words of the Fire Phoenix, Ning Fan was surprised, yet not entirely taken aback.

But another matter took him by even greater surprise.

That was the issue of his mother’s enemy.

According to the Fire Phoenix, not only did his mother indeed have an enemy, but this also explained why she chose to hide him away.

The enemy’s might was such that merely hearing about them put his life in jeopardy.

That he could avoid this concern simply with information from written records.

Merely by word of mouth tracing their trail, even his current level of cultivation would be fundamentally unable to achieve this.

"Senior, who exactly is my mother’s enemy? How are they so powerful?!" Ning Fan pressed on.

The Fire Phoenix, however, merely flapped its wings and responded coolly, "Your current strength is too weak. Even knowing would not enable you to contend with them. Look into this matter when you are more capable in the future."

"With my understanding, your mother should have left you some clues. When the time comes, it will be your chance if you find them on your own."

Seeing that it was impossible to obtain any clues, Ning Fan had no choice but to abandon the attempt.

"Young one, since you have met me, it seems we are fated. I am about to dissipate anyway, so why not leave my last bit of spiritual power to you."

As the Fire Phoenix spoke, it fluttered its wings slightly, and strands of spiritual power flowed into Ning Fan’s body.

"Ah!"

Ning Fan suddenly widened his eyes in astonishment.

The strength of this spiritual power far exceeded his own limit, like trying to pour water into a bottle already brimming to the top.

Just when he felt he was about to burst from the intensity, the power began to shrink and condensed into a pill, resting within the Spiritual Platform in Ning Fan.

"This spiritual power is but one-tenth of my own; it is the utmost you can contain. Any more and you would burst, which would be counterproductive," said the Fire Phoenix indifferently.

Ning Fan, feeling the spiritual power within his Spiritual Platform, gratefully said, "Thank you for your gift, senior. I am eternally grateful."

"It’s nothing. You are the child of an old friend; it’s also our destiny that I could meet you again." The Fire Phoenix’s form was almost completely dissipated, "This place, Kunlun, holds many dangers. Be very careful in your actions. I would hate for the child of an old friend to perish so."

Following this, the Fire Phoenix’s form dispersed completely, turning into spiritual power that diffused away.

From then on, the formation would no longer have the remnants of the Fire Phoenix and would only possess the Red Feather Sunflame, serving as the foundation to continue providing strength to the formation.

Fortunately, the loss of the Fire Phoenix meant that the might of the entire formation would be greatly reduced.
