Chapter 1032: Chapter 1032: Auction

Zhai Anping sneered, "No matter, having been entangled by the Soul Devouring Beast for so many years, Wei Qiuwan’s vitality must have already been depleted."

"Even if the Soul Devouring Beast has been extracted now, she is bound to be in a state where death is imminent. If she wants to live, she still has to rely on me to save her."

"When the time comes, the Fuguang Sect will inevitably become something we hold in the palm of our hands!"

...

After healing Wei Qiuwan, Ning Fan returned to the small courtyard Xiong Lin had prepared for him before, and continued to help Yan Shuang and the others improve their cultivation.

Out of gratitude to Ning Fan, Wei Tianyuan directly moved their residence to the abode of core disciples, causing surprise and suspicion among the surrounding disciples.

"Is this a new core disciple?"

"Don’t know, when did such a person appear?"

"I’ve been working so hard for so many years, but I never managed to become a core disciple. How come these guys can move in as soon as they show up?"

In every sect, the position of a core disciple is hotly contested by the core disciples themselves.

To become a core disciple, one has to put in an almost unimaginable amount of effort.

Because of Ning Fan’s instructions, Xiong Lin arranged the place. Coupled with Wei Tianyuan’s concealment, the disciples of the sect didn’t know who Ning Fan really was.

He hadn’t been cultivating for two days before core disciples came knocking.

"Get out here!"

"Why do you get to be a core disciple?"

"Come out and have a bout with me, let’s see what you’re made of!"

Ning Fan stepped out of the courtyard and glanced at the crowd outside, simply waving his hand dismissively.

"Better go back to cultivating, don’t cause trouble here."

The lead disciple was tall and strong, an elite among the inner sect disciples.

He had been striving for the status of a core disciple for several years, and he thought it would be his turn soon, but someone had beaten him to it.

Seeing Ning Fan dismiss him so easily, the leading disciple flew into a rage and launched himself into an attack on Ning Fan.

Behind him, the other disciples followed suit, intending to teach Ning Fan a lesson.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

A series of muffled sounds followed, and the disciples were thrown backward, crashing heavily to the ground and spitting blood.

In their gaze toward Ning Fan, sheer terror filled their eyes.

"Damn brat! Wait till I call my master! Then you’re done for!"

The leading disciple, not convinced, called for his master, who was also an elder of the Fuguang Sect.

"I want to see who has such guts to defy me... oh, so it’s you!"

The elder had come in fury, but upon seeing Ning Fan, he instantly deflated and dared not even make a sound, quickly grabbing his disciple and fleeing.

The disciple, utterly confused, failed to understand: "Master, he’s just a disciple. Is there any need to be afraid of him?"

The elder slapped him across the face and retorted, "You idiot, do you not know who this is? He’s the one who cured the young master!"

Upon hearing this, the disciple was shocked and completely abandoned the thought of seeking revenge on Ning Fan.

In the following days, Ning Fan helped Yan Shuang and the others improve their cultivation, barely reaching the level of inner sect disciples.

Although they still weren’t as good as Shuang’er and the others, they now had some ability to defend themselves.

As the peaceful days passed, the auction event approached.

On the day of the auction, Ning Fan rose early in the morning.

When he stepped out of his house, Yan Shuang and the others were already waiting outside.

"Greetings, Master!"

Upon seeing Ning Fan emerge, all three of them bowed and saluted in unison.

Their experiences over the past few days had completely won them over to Ning Fan’s side.

Just the fact he helped them improve their cultivation was beyond their imagination.

Even for themselves, trying to help a lower-level Martial Artist advance in cultivation would not have been so effortless.

Ning Fan had not wanted them to call him "Master," but Yan Shuang and the others had made up their minds to do so, beyond deterrence.

"There’s no need to be so formal with me. I helped you so that later on you can assist me. If you want to repay me, just go all out when the time comes," Ning Fan said.

Yan Shuang’s expression was grave as he spoke solemnly, "Don’t worry, Master. We would not hesitate to go through fire and water for you!"

If it were not for Ning Fan’s help, they might never have had the chance to advance to their current realm in this lifetime.

Together with the life-saving favor before, they owed Ning Fan far too much.

"Daoist Xu, let me take you to the auction house," Xiong Lin said, standing at the entrance as they walked out, with a cheerful smile.

"The Sect Master has already gone ahead to the auction house, so this time it falls to me to lead the way," he said.

Perhaps concerned about Ning Fan’s reaction, Xiong Lin added an explanation.

Ning Fan replied with a smile, "Thank you for the trouble, Elder Xiong. I appreciate your making the trip."

"It’s no trouble at all," Xiong Lin said, moving closer to whisper, "Truth be told, thanks to Daoist Xu, the Sect Master has already privately approached me. When the next Deputy Sect Master position is up for selection..."

He pointed at himself with a smirk and a playful wink.

Ning Fan raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Congratulations, congratulations. It seems next time I see Daoist Xiong, I’ll have to address you as Deputy Sect Master."

"Hey, hey, it’s still too early for that. No need for such formalities now. Wait until I actually become the Deputy Sect Master, then you can call me that," Xiong Lin quickly replied. Yet, despite his words, his face couldn’t hide a grin of delight.
