The Wrong Hero Has Been Summoned

Chapter 21: Becca 1

"Do you have any idea what you just requested. The academy is for nobles or in special cases, which is rare, students with huge potential. Even if I am noble myself, I am only in section B, how am I supposed to help you get in?" Lord Haver asked, his voice filled with disbelief.

"Tch, a noble with not pride," he said, looking directly at Lord Haver. "you have connections I don’t. If I win this tournament, my name will carry weight. Combined with your influence, it could be enough."

Elias stepped forward angrily. "This is absurd! Even if you win, you’re still just a commoner. The academy wouldn’t—"

"Shut the fuck up before I make you." His eyes and mana showed he was not bluffing.

"Silence, Elias," Lord Haver said, studying Luther more carefully. "You’ve shown unusual skills and strange magic. I admit I’m curious about why you want to enter the academy so badly."

"I have my reasons," he replied simply. "Knowledge is power, and the academy has a lot of it, not not mentions the connections you can make."

The two guard girls exchanged glances again, now openly interested in the conversation.

"And what do we get from this arrangement again?" He asked, his business sense taking over.

He smiled. "Public alliance with the tournament champion. Future favors from someone with unique abilities and so on."

Lord Haver thought for a moment, weighing his offer carefully. The noble’s eyes narrowed as he considered the potential benefits and risks.

"An interesting proposal," he finally said. "But winning the tournament is no small feat. Many strong fighters remain."

"Look, I don’t have time for mind games, do you want the deal or not?" His patience was wearing thin, even though he wanted to hold back his true nature.

"You have quite the tongue on you." He said, though he didn’t appear to be angry, "very well, if you win, I might consider this outlandish deal of yours."

"Good. I’ll see you after I win."

He turned to leave, but one of the guard girls spoke up. "Wait."

He paused, looking back at her in surprise.

"That fighting style... I’ve never seen anything like it," she said, curiosity clear in her voice. "Where did you learn it?"

"Sir, did she just speak for the 1st time?"

"Hush, I am listening."

They waited to hear his answer but he just looked at them with called eyes and walked away, "none of your business."

The girl looked at him walking away and barely noticeable smile appeared on her face, "so cool." She whispered to herself.

He walked back to his group, his mind already focused on his next match. The girls looked at him with curious expressions.

"What was that about?" Luna asked, watching as Lord Haver and his group moved away.

"Just making some plans for after I win," he replied with confidence. "Nothing to worry about now."

Selene raised an eyebrow. "You’re really sure about winning, aren’t you?"

"I have to be," he said simply. "Let’s get some food before my next match. I need to recover my strength."

They found a small food stand in the stadium and sat down to eat. While they were eating, an announcement echoed through the halls.

"Attention all fighters! The second round matches will begin in one hour. Please check the schedule board for your match time."

"We should go see when you’re fighting," Vess suggested, finishing her meal quickly.

They made their way to the large board where many fighters were already gathered. He pushed through the crowd until he could see the listings.

"There I am," he said, pointing to his name. "I’m fighting... Becca. No surprise."

"So it rally will be her huh. I wonder how its going to go this time. You need to be careful, something tells me she is way stronger than she is letting on." Luna said, looking at him with a serious face.

"Yeah, but don’t worry about that, I winning that match, she has no chance." He said casually, turning to leave.

"How are you so sure of yourself?" Selene asked, walking beside him.

"How should I put this. When you have fought for as long as i did, you tend to pick up this mindset. Some call it ego, I call it trust in my skill set."

She watched him as they walked back toward the preparation area. His confidence wasn’t just talk - she could see it in the way he moved, relaxed yet alert, like a predator that knew its strength.

"Fair enough," she said. "But Becca won’t be easy to beat. I’ve heard stories about her matches in the eastern territories."

"Let her bring her best," he replied with a small smile. "I’m counting on it."

They found a quiet corner where he could rest before his next match. Luna checked his arms again, frowning at the cuts from Ren’s wind attack.

"These are healing well, but you should let me heal them further while we wait," she said, already activating her power, only in her hands, barely visible.

"If it makes you feel better," he said, holding out his arms.

As Luna treated his wounds, Vess sat cross-legged nearby, watching the other fighters walking past.

"Everyone’s talking about you," she said. "Your fighting style has them confused. Some think you’re from another kingdom."

"Let them talk," he said, closing his eyes.

After Luna finished, he stood up and started stretching, his movements fluid and deliberate. He was focusing his mind, preparing for the next fight.

"I need about fifteen minutes alone," he told the girls. "I want to center myself before the match."

They nodded and left him to his preparation. Once alone, he sat down and took a deep breath, mana swirling gently around him.

’I am so close to grasping it.’

---

The time for time arrived and he walked into arena, already finding Becca waiting with the announcer. She looked at him approaching and she got chills.

’What’s this? Something is off about him.’

The closer he got, the more that feeling of danger increased.

The announcer raised his hand. "Ladies and gentlemen! Our next match features two powerful fighters! On one side, the eastern territories champion, Becca! And her opponent, the mysterious fighter with strange techniques, Luther!"

The crowd cheered loudly. Many had come back specifically to see him fight again after his impressive victory.

"Let the match, begin!-"

He zoomed past the announcer so fast, Becca could not react until he was already standing in front of her.

"Please don’t give up no matter what." He said with a creepy smile.
