The World's most Overpowered Side-Character -
Chapter 442 - 442: The Dead.
"It has been a while since we saw the Sovereign," Xie sat in a meditative posture overlooking a lake, smiling slightly from the soft cool wind and the kisses of dusk.
"Lord Vestic is a busy man, Xie, a better question is why have you come to my home unannounced again?" Grecian answered with a long sigh, though she seemed quite pleased while she sat on a chair in the corner of her balcony with a glass of wine in her grasp and a half bottle more before her.
"Indeed," The man agreed. "You once said that you were not formally trained, not truly, after being taught the history of your people you were married off and told to conceal your identity-"
"If that is your concern then I am sorry, you are already late, I have been getting lessons in private from my sister whenever she visits, and althought she knows little of our culture she has made up for it brilliantly with just the fact that she is Vatui, Lady Ikaris is amzing, now if you would state your true purpose for visiting me twice in just as many days..."
"Yes, of course," He unfolded his legs and turned to her, standing and clearing his throat. "My lady-"
"Before you make a mistake based on assumption, I was of the impression that you have taken an interest in Lord Vestic's adopted sister, Sara." She narrowed her eyes. "If you hurt the woman closest in kin to Master, you will regret your life."
"N-no, never, I adore Sara with all my heart, though we have only barely explored what being together means with the holding of hands, I am already confident that I will never love another but her!" He waved his hands defensively shaking his head in near panic when he sensed the approach of Dr'ul, accompanied by Renia."
"You see, I understand that you, Lady Grecia are versed in courtship- I mean no offence by it..."
"My past is shameful, but I have long accepted and been forgiven by Master and My beloved sister, there is no offence taken," Grecia raised her brow, wondering what his point was now that she was sure he was not there to be unfaithful because he saw her approachability as being an easy woman.
"I need advice -and well, you seem like the most dependible person to ask in the absence of Milady, Sovereign Vestic and that of his two other mates." Xie turned his attention to Dr'ul's approach with a rather shy expression, shrinking into a shell of his own making when the goddess came into view.
"Is that so?" Grecia held hee hand to her chin taking another sip of her wine and then standing to greet Dr'ul. "You are a silly man, Xie Tsung."
"Indeed he is, powerful as he may be, I have watched Sara send him plenty of signs but he is nearly blind to them on their dates." Dr'ul came to a slow halt wearing a casual cropped belly blouse and jeans shorts, barefooted with her red hair flowing taller than her entire body before landing.
"You spy on me?" The man rubbed the back of his head.
"The only time Sara lets her eyes off Talia is when she is by your side, as I am often the caretaker in these instances, I have no choice but to do so, to ensure you do not end up hurting little Sara as that would swiftly be the end of you." Dr'ul replied to the man's question with a chilling glare.
"Goodness, the women in Sovereign's life are all so intense," Xie sighed. "But yes, I... become nervous when I am with her, sometimes I even shake, she never says anything but I know she notices, she just smiles instead of berate my cowardice-"
"You are no coward, an idiot genius, maybe, but not a coward."
"Should I be offended or happy at that remark?" The man asked with his brow raised high in confusion.
"Take it however you wish," Grecia who had answered shook her head and then looked to Dr'ul. "Did something happen? This is the first time that you have come here uninvited."
"I will be departing for the Grand soon," Dr'ul responded. "It is regretful that I have constantly overlooked your presence, I apologise but I was tasked with keeping the peace in several sectors within the Sol collective; not every race can be as easily controlled as Arkadia or Earth, I am kept busy."
"Indeed," Xie agreed having also been left with similar directives and responsibilities. "Even if i am used to it, the power I wield means little when it is not utilized for destruction, I have been practicing politics and patience these last few months, something I have always left to my servants and vassals."
"Wait, if you are all leaving then I wonder why I was never informed or called upon." Grecia furrowed her brows, wondering if she was being overlooked despite the strength she wielded.
"Quite the inverse of your doubts, Milady," Alpha appeared before her refilling her glass and then turning to the scenery across the lake with longing expression. "Master's orders ensure you are tasked with a great responsibility."
"Pardon?"
"It was his and Milady's wish that you remain by Sara and Talia's side for the foreseeable future, things will get bad at some point, this is the worst of cases but we speculate he may end up having to eject the Sol collective in order to keep it safe, at that point everyone would have to fend for themselves and band together without him, Talia included." She turned to them. "But that is only the worst of cases, there is only a thirty percent chance that it will happen."
"Thirty?!" Xie snapped in disbelief. "That much?!"
"The Grand Collective is in danger, more enemies are being discovered, dangerous people are starting to emerge with ties to no faction and loyalty only to themselves, causing absolute chaos, Giza and Umbra are out of sight, but others are keeping Master and the rest busy."
"Is this why we were summoned?" Dr'ul asked.
"Indeed, especially with the arrival of Jun."
"What does that mean?"
"Jun is alive."
"Jun... is that not the name of his fiance that was killed by the demon-god in the Atlan war, the woman that..."
"Exactly."
"The dead cannot be brought back to life." Dr'ul clenched her teeth. "It is impossible that it be the same person-"
"Except she is the same woman from Atla, Master confirmed as much." She shook her head.
"And she did not come to reconcile."
