Chapter 988: Chapter 506 United Kingdom’s Commitment_2

’Slap—’ The Hearthstone Witch’s third slap landed fiercely on Henry Blossey’s face.

There were quite a few soldiers serving as guards in the meeting, and some of them from the United Kingdom were of Blossey family origins. At this moment, seeing the high and mighty Noble Henry Blossey continuously slapped without being able to retaliate only to end up humiliated, they all found the scene both ridiculous and amusing.

Henry Blossey exclaimed in anger, "This is too much, have you no manners..."

Another slap from the Hearthstone Witch silenced him, his face swelling up red and blue, "Now you speak to me of manners when earlier you claimed to be a Knight. How capable are you? How strong is your combat ability?"

The Hearthstone Witch sneered, sensing the enormous strength charging her from the entire universe, naturally seizing this opportunity to terrorize the weak and satisfy her cravings.

"Henry Blossey, killing you is no more significant than crushing an ant."

The next moment, the Hearthstone Witch grabbed his neck, lifting him and pinning him against the wall.

Whispering in his ear, the Hearthstone Witch said, "You dare accept others’ money and not fear the day you have money but no life to spend it? I am a Witch, and if I kill you here today, so what. Don’t overestimate your importance; your family can simply choose another Family Head."

At this moment, Emperor of Frank Louis XI turned the ring on his finger but then, remembering something, he relaxed and watched the scene with a smile brimming on his face.

Henry Blossey looked toward Louis XI and Stuart III, feeling his heart turn cold, because it seemed that not one Monarch was willing to speak for him.

It was as if his death in the hands of the Hearthstone Witch wouldn’t change anything.

At most, his death would become a bargaining chip in the hands of those kings, a means to ask for something more.

At this instant, Henry Blossey felt a deep fear.

Those three Monarchs before him were his peers, their battles using entire nations and all beings as pawns. Everyone present... were mere chess pieces manipulated by these three individuals.

Henry Blossey then realized that he had been used by the Emperor of Frank, turned into a tool for testing Lord Ivita and His Majesty Stuart III.

Being from the United Kingdom, even if he were to be killed, it would likely not matter to the Emperor of Frank.

However, his behavior that had just clearly surpassed the King’s, favoring the Frank’s interests, had offended the old and seemingly amiable and approachable Monarch of the United Kingdom at the table.

Emperor Louis XI of the Kingdom of Frank looked at Ivita and thought to himself, ’It would be unwise to reveal my hand to save a foreigner. Letting Ivita’s subordinate kill that foreign Noble would actually be to my benefit.’

’If he were to offend the United Kingdom on his own, there’s no need for me to use the traps I’ve set for him at this meeting.’

’Moreover, Ivita’s power is unfathomable. Even the Emperor of the Holy Empire has suffered at his hands. He went head-to-head with the universal laws and still came out unscathed. I must be wary of him. If only Alsace wasn’t directly in my way, I truly would not want such an adversary. So, I must avoid direct combat with him as much as possible.’

Ivita, on the other hand, looked at the two Monarchs and thought, ’The Emperor of Frank is unfathomable. The magic power he used earlier was no weaker than mine. He is a Wizard Emperor who has hidden from the world for a long time.’

’No wonder he dares to defy The Church, to make the Frankish Church independent from the jurisdiction of the papacy, for he is a Wizard, and I fear not the first to have successfully created a Dark Soul. I have been too careless. The Magic Black Forest is full of secrets, and there are always greater figures beyond. I must be cautious.’

’Stuart III said nothing. This old fox, I don’t know what he’s scheming, but he’s probably at least pleased I’ve disciplined a Noble within his domain who wouldn’t listen. So, allowing the Hearthstone Witch to do as she pleases isn’t really a problem.’

Suddenly, Ivita addressed the Hearthstone Witch, "Let him go. But Mr. Henry Blossey’s actions have been absurd and disgraceful, so perhaps he should refrain from speaking any further. Old Majesty, what do you think?"

Stuart III immediately beamed with a satisfied smile. "Let’s follow Lord Ivita’s suggestion."

"Mr. Henry Blossey, this is Lord Ivita’s suggestion, and we should respect our guests’ recommendations. Besides, I’ve always felt that the Blossey family is a great contributor to our country, never prioritizing the family’s interest over the nation’s."

"The United Kingdom has always found a way for monarchs and parliament to coexist peacefully, yet we must guard against not only an overly powerful monarch but also nobles who disregard the interests of our nation. You have done well during this time, laying much groundwork for our country’s international relations. Your extensive interactions with the Frankish people and your dealings with families from the previous United Kingdom dynasty please me greatly."

Stuart III looked on as the nine other nobles beside him watched Henry Blossey with half-smiles on their faces.

Although the Blossey family was among the core nobility of the United Kingdom, they already harbored dissident thoughts.

"Very well... Your Majesty..." Henry Blossey, faced with such an insult, had turned completely pale, and he had barely managed a bow to Stuart III before he hastily left the cabin.

Stuart III turned to Ivita and Louis XI and said, "Gentlemen of high esteem, it is an honor for you to attend this peace negotiation conference I am presiding over."

"The war between the Alsace Kingdom and the Kingdom of Frank is a matter our kingdom should not have intervened in. However, the war has affected the balance of the Magic Black Forest, stirring the heretic states into action. I’ve even heard that some of your countries are considering summoning forces from heretic states deep into the Magic Black Forest."

"This is highly inappropriate. Therefore, I took it upon myself to bring both parties here to talk and balance the interests of both sides. How indeed can we bring an end to the war?"

"We shall hope to find a path to peace here. Moreover, the United Kingdom will aid in striking down any nation that actively breaks treaties and wages aggression."

Emperor Louis XI glanced at the King of the United Kingdom with a look of disdain in his eyes.

In his view, the United Kingdom was merely surviving on borrowed time with its navy, and if not for its particular geographic circumstances and maritime laws, the Kingdom of Frank would have easily taken over the island nation.

At the moment, the United Kingdom was simply worried that if the Kingdom of Frank conquered the Alsace Kingdom and thereby expanded its power again, it would pose a threat to the United Kingdom’s status.

Thus, in its haste, it pretends to be impartial here, when in reality, it aims to stop the war at all costs.

The old King of the United Kingdom felt that his ability to preside over this conference was simply ludicrous.

The Grand Chancellor beside Louis XI said, "Your Majesty Stuart III, we respect you, but I must remind you that our lord is the Emperor of the Frankish people, not their king."

"Here are the legitimate documents and historical proofs that gave us the title of Emperor."

He presented a stack of thick papers. "Additionally, we demand that Alsace return the territories that rightfully belong to us. These documents can prove that the two counties in the western borderlands are historically Frankish territories."

"These documents are sufficient to show that the Kingdom of Frank’s war is lawful."

"Therefore, unless Alsace voluntarily returns those territories, we will not withdraw our troops."

The Grand Chancellor proactively moved to a seat beside the Great Monarch Louis XI to prevent the Hearthstone Witch from hitting him again.

Ivita glanced at him. "Oh, then as an equivalent exchange, Frank must give me two territories, or else I too will not cease warfare."

Louis XI laughed. "Lord Ivita, did I hear you incorrectly? But now, it is you who are weak, and I who am strong. It is you who need to stop—"

Ivita raised an eyebrow. "Who needs to stop the warfare? I seem to recall it is you who are the weak ones, thus eager to halt hostilities."

"Your Majesty Louis XI, the scourge of the undead must not be a pleasant experience, right?"

Louis XI snorted coldly.

Stuart III, however, looked at Ivita with surprise. "So it was Lord Ivita who suddenly incited the three northern countries to invade and attack Frank. This is indeed an unexpected revelation."
