Chapter 968: Chapter 497: Three Different Types of Wars
Having completed her dealings in the Genuine Sun Universe, Ivita left the depths of the Star Realm, returned to the royal tomb in Alsace, and made her way back to the palace.
She had spent two days in the Star Realm, and now, with the front lines of the battle changing once again, the nobles in the Hall of Discussion were in constant dispute.
Ronan Anderson, the Minister of Intelligence, said to Ivita, "Your Majesty, when Frank initiated another invasion of our Alsace, the Kingdom of Frank had already annexed Brittany Duchy and Profac Duchy, acquiring the ancient Universal Law Fragments from these lands, and integrating them into their own Frankish Law."
Upon hearing this, Ivita, piercing through the complex barriers of the Hall of Discussion ceiling and the sky, observed the Frankish Law growing stronger and climbing ever higher.
Although the Frankish Law existed only in the main material plane of the Magic Dark Forest Universe, its influence was profound. When Ivita had explored the Great Void in the Star Realm, she noticed that the Frankish Law had affected several lower universes in the Great Void.
National laws tend to spread.
Moreover, their ability to spread seemed even more potent than that of the Universal Law, for while the Universal Law makes a blank space compatible, national laws generate their own laws to govern each blank space.
From this, one could see that for the fragmented kingdoms everywhere, they would almost inevitably choose to actively change their laws, turning towards national laws.
The Kingdom of Frank, gaining a first-mover advantage, had become a powerful nation comparable to a heretic.
Ivita said, "I understand. I have seen their Frankish laws on the front lines. Although they do not have the vast scale of the Universal Law, they are more cohesive and structurally harder. The Fire Dragon Law could not even suppress the Frankish Law on its own soil."
The nobles in the Hall of Discussion discussed among themselves.
During their internal conflict in Alsace, the Frankish people had further strengthened their nation. In contrast, Alsace had been as if dreaming for the past twenty years, seemingly only weakening itself.
If it were not for Ivita controlling Alsace now, the Alsace Kingdom could only have surrendered and ceded territory.
Ronan Anderson, the Minister of Intelligence, looked worried. "Previously, with You intervening, although the palace was set on fire, Your Majesty caused heavy losses to the Frankish vanguard."
"The western counties had begun counterattacking, but the deployment of two Law Knight Regiments by the Frankish has again led to a difficult situation, and the army of the King of the Ancient Tomb’s Marshal is now at a disadvantage in these small-scale skirmishes."
The nobles in the Hall of Discussion sensed that something was amiss.
"It has come to this point, and they still do not retreat? They came with the intent to annihilate us from the very beginning."
"Heaven forbid. The Frankish people intended to tear up the armistice with us right from the start. We had thought they merely seized an opportunity to attack us, aiming for some benefits, but in reality..."
Ivita’s eyes grew cold as she scanned the incompetent crowd below, people who needed replacing, elevated during decades of chaos, whose only skills might be sycophancy and networking. But why would she need so many high EQ, obsequious ministers?
However, replacements had to be made slowly, especially at such a critical juncture. For now, she could only replace some of the leaders, which would suffice for the time being.
Ivita said, "When Frank previously ceased hostilities with Alsace, I found it strange. I perused the extensive docments within Alsace and discovered that Frank had already secured strategic locations on this side during the truce. More so, they stripped Alsace of its traditional strategic difficult terrains in the treaty."
"At that time, Frank was contending with Mango Tooth Kingdom for maritime trade dominance and naturally could not afford a truce with you all. In other words, there was never an armistice between Frank and Alsace. The only reason this treaty had not been broken over so many years was because the Kingdom of Frank needed to focus its attentions westward."
The nobles in the Hall of Discussion became panicked. Once Ivita discussed this with them, they understood and realized that they had been mere lambs, glossing over reality, thinking they had peace while, in fact, the other party just had other matters to attend to and temporarily did not want to entangle with them.
Now, the Kingdom of Frank had exposed their rapacious ambitions, naturally aiming to cripple Alsace in one go.
Alsace had likely become the primary target of the current Kingdom of Frank.
The Minister of the Capital Canal Management Department, Vengo, said to Ivita, "Your Majesty, recently, a large number of Frankish merchants in the Royal Capital have been attempting to leave via the waterway, but I detained them."
"I suspect many of them are Frankish spies, desperately trying to send back intelligence collected from our nation over the years to their homeland."
Without a moment’s thought, Ivita ordered, "Detain these men and seize their assets and imprison them."
No one in the Hall of Discussion opposed this.
This was a standard procedure.
Ronan Anderson, the Minister of Intelligence, continued, "Your Majesty, according to intelligence from the front, our current military forces cannot stand against the two Law Knight Regiments, and our troops are now demoralized."
