Chapter 835: Chapter 338: Igniting the Thousand-Year Fire and Becoming a Mortal King_2

A monarch of two nations ruling Ambros was a good thing for everyone.

In the eyes of the nobles, this was even better than if the Compulsion Viscount had actually become the Grand Viscount.

Some mid-level nobles had already started flirting with Ivita, wishing they could immediately revolve around him.

They regretted not welcoming Ivita with the etiquette due to a king.

The nobles fully became supporters of Ivita becoming the Grand Viscount.

Many nobles spoke out directly.

"Having Lord Ivita as our monarch is our honor. He is such a powerful king, his strong hands will bring rebirth to our nation."

"Noble lineage, perfect rule, Ambros welcomes Lord Ivita! Anyone who dares to obstruct is simply betraying Ambros."

"Does your city council have any dissatisfaction? Is there anything unsatisfactory about Lord Ivita that does not meet your overly critical standards?"

The Compulsion Viscount’s face turned pale; he knew he had completely lost the chance to compete for the title of Grand Viscount.

The nobles of Ambros had now found a more powerful noble.

The president of the Blacksmith Guild in the city council, fixating on Ivita, said, "So you say, how will you maintain the original order of Ambros? Do you intend to destroy and change it?"

Ivita glanced at him coldly. "Firstly, Ambros must have a Mortal King. My alter ego can assume the role of Mortal King, and Ambros must have a king; this is unchangeable."

"Secondly, my territories each have a different system and can be ruled in different ways. The existence of independent local councils pleases me."

"This saves me quite a bit of trouble and I have no intention of changing it."

Ivita knew what the council was worried about and directly said, "I can assure you, I will not destroy the council and will respect the council’s tradition of autonomy."

The chairman and several guild leaders behind the council members immediately relaxed. They were already quite satisfied with Ivita, and now, with these assurances, they were even more at ease.

Heard even their council members welcomed Ivita.

The chairman and several guild leaders could only sigh, knowing they had completely failed, as the council was an institution where the majority’s will prevails over the minority’s, and now most of the council supported Ivita, they too had to support him.

The Blacksmith Guild’s president, hearing Ivita’s assurances and seeing everyone’s support for Ivita, immediately let go of his prejudice, apologizing to Ivita, "I apologize, I should not have speculated about such a great monarch with my shallow understanding."

"Your support for the council will make you invincible in battle."

Ivita nodded.

He knew since these people learned he was the monarch of two independent nations, he had been different in their eyes.

Whether it was the nobility or the guilds, they were actually treating him with the attitude reserved for a monarch.

"At this point, hiding my power is meaningless; it would only cause me to miss opportunities," Ivita thought.

Then, at the coronation ceremony led by the Sect Hierarch of Ambros, all the nobles and guild leaders, along with everyone present, knelt before Ivita and pledged their loyalty to him in front of the God of All Things.

Ivita’s second alter ego took the throne and suddenly felt as if he could see a massive fire burning in front of him, in which the Three Witches of the East were quietly watching him.

The fire consumed all the magic power left within Ivita’s second alter ego.

Allowing Ivita’s second alter ego to become a mortal.

For only a mortal could become the king of the Thousand-Year Fire.

This was the Law set down a thousand years ago.

In the midst of the fire, the Three Witches of the East saw through the flesh that hid it, glimpsing Ivita’s soul and the incredibly immense Light Soul.

"In the midst of the flames, the three witches from the East said, ’We have seen your soul, Ivita, we once helped you in the battle against the Fire Demon, and though we had met then, we never realized we would meet under these circumstances.’

’An intriguing way to become a Mortal King.’

’Had it been before, we would have stopped you, but the Thousand-Year Fire is in decline and needs your help. Consider this a small recompense allowing your cunning ploys.’

’We trust you. Even though the Mortal King of Ambros is the most powerful warlock ever known, even though he wields such power, we believe he will not misbehave.’

The eldest of the witches from the East said to Ivita, ’We guess that you certainly wouldn’t know the formula of the final set of the potion for creating the Soul of Darkness.’

’Because the Dark Queen, to protect this secret, has placed a curse of knowledge on it.’

Ivita had not expected it to be so.

The eldest witch said, ’The source of that final potion cannot be sought from the outside world but must be unearthed from within.’

’The first is the Sun Mystery Potion, the second is the Moon Mystery Potion, and the third is the Dark Mystery Potion.’

’The ingredients for these potions are not sourced from materials elsewhere, nor from your physical body, nor from your soul.’

’Instead, they are extracted from within your own heart. The Sun Mystery Potion requires harvesting all the curiosity within your heart, the Moon Mystery Potion all the imagination, and the Dark Mystery Potion demands all your secrets. However, be cautious, for if you err while taking these three substances within you, the potions concocted could pose grave problems.’

’This is why the Dark Queen sealed them.’

’This is the method of taking the three inner essences and refining them into the Dark set of magic potions. This is all the help we can offer you now.’

The eldest of the witches touched Ivita’s soul on the forehead, and at once, a multitude of information surged into Ivita’s mind.

Only then did Ivita realize that, because of the curse of knowledge, only by staying within the Thousand-Year Fire could he recognize this knowledge.

In other words, within the Magic Black Forest, due to the curse of knowledge, under normal circumstances, no one else could access the knowledge of the last set of Dark potions anymore.

Perhaps it was because the flames were now greatly diminished, so soon, the phantom of the flame slowly receded.

Ivita’s soul bowed towards the direction from which the flames were receding.

The witches from the East had taught him such precious knowledge without demanding anything in return.

If it had been the Hearthstone Witch, she would likely have made several demands.

’Harvesting magic materials from one’s own heart,’ Ivita thought deeply for a moment, then realized how wondrous the realm of the Witch Marquis was, holding the highest secrets of magic.

Ivita issued his first command to all the Ambros people who had pledged allegiance to him, ’Bring out the gold coins treasured in your homes and cast them into the Thousand-Year Fire.’

’This is the only way to prevent the Thousand-Year Fire from extinguishing.’

’As long as the Thousand-Year Fire burns steadily, the Druids, the Dark Giants, and the Sons of the Forest will have no part to play.’

Although everyone present was puzzled, since Ivita had ascended to power in the most forceful way, they dared not defy him.

Ivita nodded at this realization.

Indeed, his strategy was correct.

Time passed quickly, and in five days, tons of gold coins were thrown into the Thousand-Year Fire beneath the city, and the flames roared to life, turning golden.

At this moment, all things on earth renewed themselves, vast swathes of redwood forests withered and diminished.

Rivers that had dried up found new life, barren fields became fertile again, plagues of insects vanished, and even the Black Death hidden within the Ambros Territory was eradicated by the flames.

All the human inhabitants of Ambros were embracing their rebirth.

At this very moment, Ivita was in the highest building of Ambros City—the Tower of Books—reading a letter, a letter from the current King at Arthas Palace.
