Chapter 816: Chapter 429: Wedding and Magic Failure
Although they merely crossed paths, Ivita still sensed the danger posed by the knights hidden in the dense forest.
Although she had never seen them, Ivita could discern, through "The Eye of the Demon," the evil Qi domains of these individuals, which allowed her to determine that they were five Knight Marquises.
Ivita did not share this discovery with the Hearthstone Witch and Kristin since there was no need and she was afraid it would cause them undue alarm.
’To dispatch five Knight Marquises just to guard a valley,’ Ivita said, ’probably even the king of a typical kingdom does not have such generous resources. Indeed, the being that sealed the Ice and Snow Queen is no ordinary person.’
Ivita thought again about the ’it’ that Conqueror Shaw had once mentioned.
Could it be that there really was a force, silently influencing the world, dictating its operation?
Ivita returned to Maximilian’s castle with the Hearthstone Witch and Kristin.
There, they were to prepare a magic potion of three substance groups.
The formula for the substance group magic potion was not complicated, and though the ingredients were precious, they were still purchasable; thus, Ivita, pretending to be the King of Lombardy at various secret witch gatherings in Ambros, borrowed money and purchased the materials on a large scale before heading back to Maximilian’s castle to start the concoction.
However, Ivita planned to concoct two portions of the substance group magic potion simultaneously with the Hearthstone Witch, as Ivita also wanted the Hearthstone Witch to advance to the rank of Witch Marquis.
Though she seemed somewhat unworthy, Ivita noticed an extraordinary advantage the Hearthstone Witch had over ordinary witches—her thorough knowledge of the Hearthstone Castle’s library and her deeper understanding of magic than her peers.
Just as they were making the substance group magic potion in Maximilian’s castle, Ivita’s two avatars learned of something very important—the Compulsion Viscount was getting married.
The Compulsion Viscount’s dealings with foreign kingdoms were no secret.
Widowed and childless, he now planned to marry the third daughter of the King of Saxon and receive deep support from the Saxon Kingdom.
However, this also meant that the Viscount coalition’s sixth siege of Ambros needed to be put on hold.
They had a wedding to hold.
Concerned that the city faction’s military might break out due to this, the Compulsion Viscount specifically convened a meeting with his coalition’s top leaders to discuss the proceedings for his wedding day.
Avatar No. 2 of Ivita, because he appeared to be a middle-aged man and was now valued by the Compulsion Viscount, was also invited to this morning’s small meeting.
Meanwhile, Ivita’s giant avatar was involved in the city faction’s discussions about the day.
Giant Ivita listened with waning interest.
He had no interest in these matters and had initially only infiltrated both camps with his avatars to obtain at least two Doors of Truth and then just to wait for the right moment to strike.
The city faction and the noble faction were losing people every day.
When they become weak enough, it would be his time to take up arms and call upon his allies.
Giant Ivita, hearing these men discussing arbitrary matters, chose to stop listening and overtly fell asleep.
The wedding day of the Compulsion Viscount was set for seven days later, to be held on the outskirts of Ambros City; thus, Ivita, alone performing the tasks of three people during this period, was simultaneously trying to concoct the substance group magic potions while stealthily gathering more Doors of Truth on the battlefield.
Doors of Truth were merely a manifestation of the collisions and flows of magical power in the world, representing truth to lower-level magic users or those from lower-dimensional planes of magic.
However, in the Magic Black Forest, they were just a relatively unique and advanced phenomenon within the spectrum of magical alterations.
During these seven days, Ivita stealthily harvested three more Doors of Truth.
He was collecting so many Doors of Truth because not only were they versatile and good to have on hand, but he was also concerned that too many failures might occur while concocting the Ultimate Truth Gate Potion, potentially exhausting his materials.
Furthermore, the Doors of Truth were valuable, and selling them could earn a significant profit,
covering countless expenses.
During these seven days, he continually concocted the substance group magic potions, repeatedly failing and expending an unknown amount of magical resources, essentially squandering them to no avail.
Only then did Ivita truly understand what it meant to be deeply ensnared in the world of magic.
On the day of the Compulsion Viscount’s wedding, his Avatar No. 2 was also called, and incredibly, it was seated at the upper table of the open-air chapel prepared for the wedding.
Ivita unobtrusively took his seat at the front row of the chapel, among the pillars of the Ambros noble faction and distinguished guests from abroad.
Ivita even saw the General from the Potzstan Kingdom, whom he had seen before.
At the top of the chapel, after the Archbishop of Ambros and the newlyweds finished thanking the God of All Things, they were to exchange tokens, recite their wedding vows, and then partake of the Holy Communion.
But during this communion segment, an unexpected event occurred.
Avatar No. 2 of Ivita saw a suspicious-looking servant placing a strange magic powder into the clear water that should have been carried by the head maid to the Viscount and his bride.
After drinking this glass of clear water, the Viscount exclaimed in front of the Archbishop of Ambros, "Archbishop, is the blood and flesh of your god really in this water and bread?"
