Chapter 809: Chapter 425 Ivita’s Endless Scheme_2

Kristin covered her mouth. "I often envy you wizards for being able to advance to the fifth level. But I never imagined that this fifth level would be so perilous, requiring such a heavy toll."

Her gaze suddenly became alert as she looked at Ivita and the Hearthstone Witch. "I’ve heard of mad witches creating plagues to annihilate cities, using Blood Magic to forcibly reveal the Door of Truth to the world."

"You wouldn’t do that, would you?"

The Hearthstone Witch responded righteously, "The wolf is meant to eat the sheep. Whoever dares to obstruct this is going against the natural cycles of the world."

Kristin’s look at her grew increasingly hostile.

Ivita interrupted them, saying, "Miss Kristin, rest assured, does this country still need to gather Blood Magic by killing people now?"

"I plan to gather Blood Magic during the sixth siege of Ambros City, to force the Door of Truth out."

The Hearthstone Witch clapped her hands, saying, "Very good, very good. It’ll save us from dirtying our hands."

Kristin forced a smile and nodded at Ivita’s words; she couldn’t deny the current situation in Ambros.

Kristin still regarded Ivita as a close friend, and asked her, "Shouldn’t you be hurrying to Ambros then? I’ve heard the Compulsion Viscount has already besieged Ambros five times, and this is the sixth. Each siege cuts off their city’s food supplies, and he even deliberately throws bodies infected with plague into their water source, claiming it’s warfare, but his real intent is to kill the civilians."

"The Compulsion Viscount is quite proud of this, even though his own territory has been purged by city guild leaders three times. War is as such, without someone to stop it, it’s hard to say who is right or wrong, or who we’re really fighting for."

Kristin said to Ivita, "If you’re intent on taking over this place, shouldn’t you be going there swiftly?"

Ivita’s expression was odd. "If it were just the Viscount and the guild leaders, I would have raised a great army by now. But Ambros’s composition is too intricate now, I’m afraid if I go, I might get stuck. But Kristin, don’t worry too much, I will take it slow because of the future."

"Because I, I have a new idea."

"I’ve asked you here this time to help me find someone."

Kristin looked at him curiously, not knowing what malicious plan Ivita had in mind for the Compulsion Viscount. "What’s the matter?"

Ivita said to Kristin, "After you advanced to the fourth level as a Hunter, you must have often felt it too. Whenever you exert power beyond the third level, there’s something subtly spying on you."

Kristin hesitated, then nodded. "I understand what you mean. You’re worried that if you don’t address this hidden danger, at least not confirm it, you’ll be threatened before it acts against you."

Ivita said, "Yes."

"Moreover, I think this hidden threat might be related to a real enemy lurking in the shadows."

Ivita said to Kristin in a low voice, "This enemy, I suspect, may be related to the enemies of the human empire."

Hearing about the enemies of humanity, Kristin’s previously lazy gaze sharpened, no longer just listening to a story. "Young Ivita, this is not good."

"Then we must solve it. I know why you asked me here. As a Hunter, my sensory abilities do exceed yours. Moreover, having lived in Ambros for over a decade, I’ve eaten more meat than the salt you have consumed. I’ll guide you to the source of that spying presence, but I can’t overpower it myself; you’ll have to bring troops to protect both you and me."

Ivita coughed. "Did you use that idiom incorrectly? Surely, the salt I have consumed cannot exceed the meat you’ve eaten, I don’t live on salt alone."

Kristin rolled her eyes at him. "What do you plan to do about the Viscount and the others?"

Ivita became serious. "Fraud."

...

Outside Ambros City.

Shortly after the puppet creature left, the Compulsion Viscount was about to order his troops to retreat to avoid attacking the city in the rain when suddenly a middle-aged nobleman, cloaked in black with a golden sun embroidered on top, leading a group of equally crazed-looking followers, approached from beyond the multitude of armies.

The leading middle-aged nobleman seemed to wield an invisible force of Telekinesis around him, causing the surrounding troops to instinctively move out of his way.

In the midst of the army, several hidden wizards and high-level knights initially intended to trip him, to stop him—after all, an army is no place for jokes.

But whoever wanted to enter, just entered.

Yet those wizards, after clashing with Ivita 2’s telekinetic powers, stepped back, still wondering how such a powerful wizard had entered Ambros.

Was it the death curse that ignored the high-level professionals of Ambros?

Due to being at the Marquis level as a wizard, which is the ultimate combat power that the king could muster within the kingdom, Ivita’s magic level was considered the top tier in Ambros at that time.

Ivita No.2 approached the high-stepped horse ridden by the Compulsion Viscount and shook his head. "My Viscount, what is troubling you, I can assist."

The Compulsion Viscount gave a suspicious look. "You? And who are you exactly? Too many have visited me lately. Each one backed by a major nation."

Ivita mentally uttered an ’oh’.

This is everyone considering you a potential target for fraud.

Ivita briefly said, "I cannot reveal my identity, I represent those above."

Ivita No.2 pointed upwards.

Above?

After a brief pause, the Compulsion Viscount started to quickly ponder which power would send an envoy who couldn’t disclose their own name.

The Church?

No, the Church could be mentioned.

So, it must be... the Empire.

The Compulsion Viscount looked at Ivita with astonishment and suspicion, wondering if the Empire, not daring to openly take sides, secretly dispatched a Witch Marquis-level wizard and dozens of powerful warriors to aid him?

The Compulsion Viscount hurriedly asked, "Is it the Empire?"

Ivita continued to smile without answering, instead changing the subject, "Anyway, I am here to assist you in sieging. Viscount, you may integrate us into your troops. Our support for you is clearer and stronger than those nations, whose sounds are thunderous but barely bring any rain."

The Compulsion Viscount’s eyes darted around. "What does the Empire require from me?"

Ivita’s eyes adhered to a serene demeanor. "Nobility is the core of the ruling order."

With a hearty laugh, the Compulsion Viscount exclaimed, "Very well, very well, let the Imperial envoy quickly join my army. I will have my assistant take care of your accommodation and meals."

He didn’t fully trust the strangers like Ivita and after they had left, he said to his adjutant, "Keep a close watch on them."

"Though it’s unlikely for a Witch Marquis to serve as a spy, we still need to be cautious."

"Only after they actually take the field and truly kill a substantial number of Ambros City’s civilians can we trust them."

His adjutant, full of admiration, said to the Compulsion Viscount, "The Viscount is always prudent."

...

Meanwhile, in the grand hall of the Ambros City Council, Ivita’s giant magic double sat inside, loudly sleeping, only waking up belatedly when the council members entered the chamber.

The council members whispered among themselves, eyeing the giant with astonishment.

"Is this the giant from the Northern Giant Kingdom who came to help us voluntarily?"

"Since when did giants start liking republics?"

"Why bother with that, the giant is too powerful. He should be our friend, or we would be extremely unlucky if he were our enemy."

Thus, Ivita became a distinguished guest for both parties.

He even had the spare energy to use his real body to search for the origin of Ambros’s curse.

At that moment, Ivita realized just how beneficial the magic of duplicating himself was, being able to handle three tasks at once was exhilarating.
