Chapter 807: Chapter 424: Hell’s Intervention?_2
Rayli, Black Wolf, and those Knights all showed expressions of shame.
Ivita said, "Now that this swarm of insects is under my control, you all want to take action against them. Sigh."
Just as Black Wolf and Rayli, along with those Knights, were about to nod in acknowledgment of their mistake, they all raised their heads in astonishment.
What!
All under control?
Had Ivita resolved the issue with the widespread enemies in just a moment, even turning them into his own troops?
For a moment, these people felt that Ivita was unfathomable and extremely reliable.
Black Wolf questioned Ivita, "Your Highness, do you know everything that’s going on here?"
Ivita said, "I took advantage of the ambush set by the insect swarm. While you were being lured by the swarm into taking the initiative, I conveniently observed the entire war and identified many of your issues."
"The watchtower was too relaxed and failed to notice the approach of a large swarm of insects."
"The swarm did not immediately attack our territory, probably because they sensed my presence, the Dragon Palace Magic I left within this territory. That’s why they lured you out, to catch you all in one fell swoop."
"Although the Chaos Abyss is very strong compared to ordinary mortals, as long as you are careful not to be deceived by these insects disguised as humans, stick to your beliefs, and with the support of my Dragon Palace Magic, it’s not necessarily impossible to defend your territory."
Black Wolf, Rayli, and the fellow Knights did not refute this.
Indeed, over the past year, the Dragon Palace Magic left by Ivita has deterred many enemies from advancing.
It is what made these originally arrogant and inexperienced Knight Lords submit to Ivita and rely on him.
They had not expected that upon Ivita’s return to the territory, he would still have to clean up their mess.
Ivita looked at the insectoids who were kneeling on one knee next to him. Because the Soul Fragments of the insect queen were enveloped by his Light Soul, these insectoids were, in effect, following his commands.
"All of you leave Baron Augustus’s territory and disguise yourselves as humans to head to Ambros City. Half of you will infiltrate Ambros to become spies there, and the other half will join the Compulsion Viscount’s troops."
Upon hearing Ivita’s command, the insectoids all stood up, turned around, and left at a speed unmatched by ordinary humans, quickly heading toward the distance.
The Soldiers and Knight Lords watched the departing insectoids whispering to each other and marveling at how they had previously allowed hundreds of insect spy infiltrators into their territory without realizing it.
Rayli and Black Wolf approached Ivita, with Black Wolf saying, "Your Highness, many powers have threatened our territory recently, hoping we would pledge allegiance to them."
Rayli resolutely said, "That’s their wishful thinking."
Ivita said, "I have already unified Cross Island and Lombardy Duchy. Now the power I hold is incomparable to before, and in Ambros, I have many allies."
Upon hearing this, Rayli, Black Wolf, and those Knight Lords were all rendered speechless.
Many Knights had joined Baron Augustus because of money.
At this moment, they were shaken by what they heard. Although they had heard that the owner of this territory had gone overseas in search of land, they had not expected Ivita to tell them that he had acquired the territories of two independent nations.
But they didn’t think Ivita was joking.
Someone who could control the entire swarm in a very short period was definitely not a minor character.
After a brief shock, Black Wolf immediately thought of something and stared at Ivita.
Since Ivita had already regained so much territory and troops, Black Wolf understood that Ivita’s ambitions would not stop there. It seemed that Ivita was going to make a move on Alsace Kingdom soon.
Black Wolf said to Ivita, "We know that in pursuit of victory in the war, the Compulsion Viscount has sought the help of many infamous powers, regardless of Ambros."
"The Chaos Abyss is just one of them."
"I’ve heard that they have recently made connections with the Druids."
The expression on Ivita’s face became peculiar. "Oh, I see," he said.
He didn’t want to delve too deeply into the issue of Druids, as he himself wasn’t clean in that regard.
Black Wolf said to Ivita, "Your Highness, what would you have us do?"
Ivita said, "For now, there’s no need to reveal our identities. Simply stand by and hold our ground. Should any formidable power attempt to attack our territory, contact me immediately with Dragon Palace Magic. If you speak to the washbasin in my study inside the castle, I will be able to hear you."
"I’m going to meet with Hunter Kristin to search for something. She has a knack for finding things, which makes her the perfect choice to help me locate whoever is spying on me from the shadows."
Black Wolf, puzzled, said, "Don’t we need to hurry to Ambros?"
"There’s no rush; let the Viscount go mad for a while first," Ivita said. "It would be rather inconsiderate of us not to let him go mad. Besides, the more he loses it, the worse he’ll make things."
"From what I’ve gathered about him recently, I know he’ll only make things more troublesome."
...
On another front in Ambros City, Compulsion Viscount stood beneath the city walls, backed by an immense army that included many mercenaries and their leaders from foreign powers.
The presence of these armies from different countries made the military factions of the city’s own nobles insignificant.
An envoy approached Compulsion Viscount and said, "The general from Potzstan Kingdom said he has observed rainclouds in the sky, predicting rain this afternoon, making it inconvenient to besiege the city."
"He asks that you, Viscount, delay the siege."
Compulsion Viscount nodded coldly.
But inwardly, he was far from pleased.
He was the marshal of the troops, and yet now he had to listen to these foreigners on every matter. These foreigners were inconvenient.
Though it seemed they were aiding him now, they had exacted countless favors in return, and had it not been for these outsiders helping the City Guild Faction, he would not have sought external assistance.
By that reckoning, these foreigners were still a nuisance.
Compulsion Viscount coldly surveyed the foreign mercenaries within his own forces, then whispered to a Knight beside him, "Next time, let those mercenaries take the front and our men take the rear, understand?"
The Knight looked troubled as he faced the Viscount. "But having unreliable soldiers at the front will affect the morale of the troops."
Compulsion Viscount scoffed. "You think I don’t know that? In a siege, the front line is just cannon fodder. What morale impact can there be? If anyone retreats, have our pikemen at the back stab them."
The Knight had no choice but to give in, nodding reluctantly.
Suddenly, Compulsion Viscount heard a sound by his ear—the beat of a drum. A puppet was astonishingly moving on its own, holding a pellet drum and striking it continuously.
The puppet laughed. "Viscount, it seems you have encountered some problem. It looks like you need my help now."
Compulsion Viscount looked at him coldly. "Who are you? What are you? If you don’t answer about your origins, I’ll have you burned."
"I am an Envoy from Hell, here to assist you. Even Hell sees potential in you now," said Pinocchio smoothly, without the slightest panic, as he lied. "Did someone tell you bad things about us before? It hurts my feelings to see that you are so unwelcoming upon seeing a puppet."
"No... not at all..." Compulsion Viscount couldn’t help but curl the corners of his mouth upon hearing this. "What business does Hell have with me?"
"Hell has noticed the many deaths here and has taken an interest in you—you, who are destined to rule this land," said the Pinocchio puppet.
"We want to help you. Please take these beans. If you face danger, just scatter the beans, and they will be enough to turn the tide of defeat."
"Even at the moment of your victory, they can ensure your win and prevent others from stealing it."
Compulsion Viscount inquired suspiciously, "What must I give in return? The Druids have already asked for quite a bit."
The Pinocchio puppet shook its head. "Nothing at all. We merely wish to conduct an experiment on this land. You may act as you please; we only need to wait quietly and see what will happen."
With that, the Pinocchio puppet turned and left.
Compulsion Viscount watched it go, his gaze unfriendly. "Foreigners, demons, Druids—they all see me as a delicious cake, each wanting a piece."
"Damned outsiders."
"Once I’ve used them up, I’ll kick them all out."
