Chapter 798: Chapter 420 Encounter with Black Rose Fairy_1
Before heading to Ambros, Ivita prepared diligently.
Bringing an army to Ambros was not a good strategy, as Ambros had already been involved in many power struggles, and the number of soldiers there might now exceed that of civilians.
In terms of numbers, Ivita wasn’t going to secure an advantage.
However, he was now a formidable wizard, with a number of powerful witches under his command, including the monster known as King of the Ancient Tomb, and he also had many former witch allies in Ambros.
In the magical deserted land of Ambros, Ivita possessed a significant advantage.
Ivita first sent the Hearthstone Witch alone to Ambros, to search for their cemetery and their leader, her old friend, Milani. Then traveled to the snowy mountains where the Ice Witch was, leaving the Sect Hierarch of the Sun God Sect and the Blue Illusion Grand Witch to guard the Lombardy Duchy.
Their tasks were not difficult.
For with control of the Iron Crown Law, Ivita naturally had the might to protect his territories.
As Ivita, in the form of a falcon entered the familiar Ambros, he found that the Ambros of today was a shell of its former self. Once-prosperous towns and cities in the west now bore signs of desolation and decline.
Traveling on the roads now were not traders, but refugees.
War had destroyed the homes they relied upon while those who had started these wars did not provide them with the means to rebuild their lives.
Ambros was still caught between the factions of the City Guild and the land nobility.
Ivita landed at the city gate of the famous city of Parviga, where he saw countless refugees trying to enter the city, but they were blocked by the guards of Parviga.
Even the inhabitants within Parviga were not faring well, as their fathers and brothers had left for the battlegrounds.
In the city, Ivita even ran into an old acquaintance, Alice.
Unlike their initial meeting, when Lady Alice was dressed in formal attire. This time, Lady Alice was not wearing a grand evening dress, but a simple, ill-fitting dress.
She was accompanied by guards, city councillors, and members of the committee.
Clearly, she’d been through many changes.
Ivita did not greet her, instead, he flew right past, because this time he was different. Both city guilds and the land nobles would be his enemies.
There was no need for involve himself with those whose paths did not converge with his goals. He just needed to maintain the status quo with his current allies.
Ivita, in the guise of a falcon, took off into the sky and slipped in through a Dark Door.
In the city of Parviga, Lady Alice looked up and thought she saw the sky darken for a moment.
But she quickly shook her head thinking it was a mere illusion.
...
Ivita didn’t go to his territory in Ambros first, or visit Rayli and Black Wolf who were left in charge. Instead, he headed north in Ambros.
The once vast valley of Ambros suddenly seemed small to him.
With just a hint of magic, Ivita darted across Ambros.
He came to the snowy mountains in the north, hovered as a falcon in the same, looking around, for the most valuable treasures of Ambros were in these mountains.
The Snow Mountain Law and the Thousand-Year Fire.
It was quite rare to find two laws coexisting in one territory.
The source of the rivers that run through Ambros is the Snow Mountain Law, making it incredibly important to Ambros.
Ivita quickly located the emblem of the Snow Mountain Law, a castle perched at the summit of the snow-capped mountain.
"Who dares to intrude into my territory?" came the cold voice of the Ice Witch.
From her tone, Ivita detected a hint of concern.
Ivita didn’t hesitate, descending as a falcon through the sky into the snow castle. As he neared, the ice and snow around him swiftly melted under the effect of his Light Soul.
Then, he landed directly inside the main hall of the castle and slowly stood up.
The Ice Wand materialized in the Ice Witch’s hand. Her gaze was cold, but the immense magic power radiating from Ivita made her extremely wary. She’d never seen such a powerful wizard before.
Within her perception, Ivita’s spiritual energy resembled a blazing sun descending upon the snowy mountains all of a sudden.
Reacting to Ivita’s presence, the Snow Mountain Law revealed that numerous other laws were interwoven with him.
The Snow Mountain Law was amongst the weakest of laws.
Thus the Ice Witch felt anxious.
She didn’t even know what had befallen the students guarding the mountain range and the Snow Monster clan nearby.
The Ice Witch addressed Ivita, who was still looking down, "I do not know where you originate from, wizard, but I am grateful for your visit. However, Ambros is a magical deserted land, and this snowy mountain has no life, devoid of resources that you may find valuable. Therefore, please excuse my inability to host you."
"You may leave now."
She looked coldly at Ivita, holding up her wand, but didn’t dare to make the first move.
Interestingly, the large-footed Snow Monsters in the hall snarled at Ivita, looking like they were readying themselves for an attack.
