Chapter 795: Chapter 418: The Obsidian Empire and the Primitive Law_2

"Tsk."

"Originally, if I were to control this country, I wouldn’t need to resort to many schemes. I could rely on military force to deter any ambitions towards Lombardy from other nations."

Ivita replied, "It’s not too late now."

"What?" the King of the Ancient Tomb queried.

Ivita said to him, "As long as you sincerely join my side now, serve me, serve this country, you can still achieve the plan you speak of."

The King of the Ancient Tomb, interred in his prison, eyes glittering, laughed boisterously. He arrived at the edge of the prison in an instant, startling the Hearthstone Witch into almost fleeing, but in the end, she was held back by the magic imbued with the power of Ivita’s Light Soul and the Knowledge Demon King on the prison’s surface.

Madness shone through the King of the Ancient Tomb’s eyes. "Yes, Ivita, you did win. But don’t fool yourself into thinking I’ll pledge my true loyalty to you. You can use my heart as a threat, garner my assistance, but the moment I see an opportunity, I will sow discord, inflict continuous losses upon you, until you decide to kill me or until I see a chance to kill you."

His constant onslaught on the magic made everyone in the castle feel as if an earthquake was occurring.

Ivita paid no mind to his madness. For now, the initiative was in her hands, and she was confident she would make him come around.

Ivita told the King of the Ancient Tomb: "I understand if you’re reluctant to pledge your loyalty to me for the time being. That’s not why I’m here. I seek something else inside your mind, a valuable treasure."

The King of the Ancient Tomb halted his venting of rage, looking somewhat taken aback.

He had no idea what else Ivita might be coveting from inside his mind.

Ivita reminded him, "It’s the knowledge about creating the dark soul."

Currently, she had a portion of the knowledge about creating the Soul of Darkness, obtained directly from the Knowledge Demon King and the River of Knowledge. She also had another related knowledge from the third underground layer of the ancient grand library. Moreover, the Hearthstone Witch was also trying to share the part of the Dark Soul knowledge that she knew.

On top of that, with the portion of knowledge inside the King of the Ancient Tomb’s mind, she expected to acquire four portions of the Dark Soul’s knowledge.

If she could additionally obtain another portion of Dark Soul creation knowledge from the Ice Lich Lord sealed within her left eye, she’d have five portions in total.

It would considerably improve her understanding of the Dark Soul, elucidate what the Dark Soul is, enhance the odds of successfully creating a Dark Soul, as well as its quality.

The King of the Ancient Tomb paused for a moment, then scoffed coldly. "So that’s it. Seeking information known only to the successful from the hands of the unsuccessful. Take it if you want it."

He used memory magic to duplicate the knowledge about the Dark Soul from his mind and split it into two parts, handing them to Ivita and the Hearthstone Witch.

He had observed the Hearthstone Witch’s covetous gaze and concluded that she also aimed to create a Dark Soul.

After examining and finding no issues with it, Ivita said to him, "Pleasure doing business with you, and thank you for the knowledge."

Having hastily departed the location, Ivita and the Hearthstone Witch closed the door to the underground chamber.

Ivita told the Hearthstone Witch, "I see, knowledge related to the Dark Soul cannot be taught, cannot be shared, cannot be recorded. Only through direct memory interaction can it be spread."

"But this kind of behavior carries a high degree of risk. Those without a certain level of mental strength can’t utilize this, let alone beware of any manipulations within the memory transfer. After all, it’s directly integrated into the spirit world, something very close to the soul itself."

The Hearthstone Witch said to Ivita, "Your Majesty, I will share the knowledge about the Dark Soul with you through memory as well. But while I’ve bonded with the Dark Lady of Light, it seems you haven’t bonded with Hell yet."

Ivita shook her head.

She didn’t understand why no demon was sent by Hell to approach her yet.

However, she wasn’t lacking demons around her.

Originally, she thought that if push comes to shove, she could also form a bond with the Knowledge Demon King.

Yet, whenever she brought up the request to the Knowledge Demon King, he always delayed for some reason.

By rights, the Knowledge Demon King could not disobey his own commands within a decade.

Ivita said to the Hearthstone Witch, "Let’s leave this matter for now. The power of Hell isn’t essential. I myself have plenty of demon power. Let’s first share the knowledge of the Soul of Darkness, and I will also be very busy lately."

As Ivita had anticipated.

For the following week, Ivita had to deal with various nobles. Countries near the Lombardy Duchy kept sending countless ambassadors to congratulate him.

However, there was good news. Ivita had thought that his consecutive takeovers of two independent nations would draw the attention of the countries in the Magic Black Forest.

But someone else had attracted their attention.

It turned out that many pirates voluntarily left Cross Island, which Ivita controlled, and the Mediterranean, venturing to far-off archipelagos to make a living.

Some pirates sought the help of certain maritime nations and even voluntarily revealed the New World left behind by Marco Anson, which they had discovered.

This news spread like fire in oil, and now the eyes of most powerful nations were fixed on the vast New World, especially when pirates and some colonists used gold, silver, and jewelry from the Magic Black Forest to buy a lot of land from local indigenous tribes.

The colonists had deceived the indigenous tribes and bought a large amount of land with cheap jewelry that was of a value far less than that of the land.

However, they overlooked one point – the indigenous people did not have the concept of buying land.

In their eyes, land was shared. Anyone in need could take it.

Conflicts broke out between the two parties.

In the war, the indigenous people received assistance from a primitive, vast tribal empire that had formed locally – the Obsidian Empire.

The colonists, who had originally thought they could easily suppress the indigenous people, were wiped out due to their small number, which also angered the countries of the Magic Black Forest.

Therefore, the countries paid less attention to Ivita, who had suddenly emerged, and instead focused mostly on the Obsidian Empire and the New World continent.

Ivita obtained an estimate of the Obsidian Empire’s civilization from Tartax, based on the reports from the nations of the Magic Black Forest. Although the Obsidian Empire was called an empire, it did not even have a written language. Instead, it possessed a very rare primitive law system.

They used knotted ropes and wall paintings to record events.

Though they had some knowledge of astronomy, botany, music, and aesthetics, and even simple mathematics and a basic moral foundation, these were all very superficial. Their morals were so primitive that they allowed intermarriage among close relatives.

As a state, it was a very primitive tribal state with little concept of rank.

Although it was called an empire, this was merely a fancy name given due to its vast size. Even though it was the size of an ancient civilization, or even larger, it was unable to effectively collect taxes or implement a conscription system, and it was not even capable of feudalism.

The nations all judged that this would be a very easy to bully primitive partial state, like a piece of fat meat placed before a group of big gray wolves.

The most crucial point was that this nation did not believe in the God of All Things.

As a result, even The Church could take the initiative to lead a crusade against this nation.

But all of this had little to do with Ivita.

Because Ivita took this opportunity to negotiate with the Red Bishop sent by The Church, and surprisingly, The Church gave him unprecedented acknowledgement of his legal rights in Ambrosia.

One possible reason for this was that Ambrosia had repeatedly denied the Pope’s orders, and the Pope wanted to find other political entities to counteraste the separatist forces within Ambrosia.

The other reason was that The Church intended to make friends with him, and even thought this could be a warning against the traditional monarchs of the nations.

Regardless, the most important thing was that Ivita had obtained the support of The Church for all his claims in Ambrosia.
