Chapter 750: Chapter 397: The Relationship Between the Sun God Sect and the Great Library_1

"Is this... the Great Library?" Ivita frowned, sensing the Library was filled with an aura of death, but death could only occur once there had been life.

Ivita spotted a pile of bones in the corner of the Great Library.

After examining them, he realized most of the bones had been there for a long time rather than being recent remains.

Most surprisingly, these skulls bore a mark in the shape of a sun.

"Either the members of the Sun God Sect had entered here and died in the Great Library for some reason," Ivita said. "Or they had discovered a ritual to enter the Great Library by offering a body."

Ivita cast aside the skeleton he was holding.

He picked up a book lying next to him and began to read. Luckily, the text used magical script, otherwise, Ivita would have struggled to understand the ancient languages.

The book in his hands described an extremely primitive and ancient magic.

It roughly explained a spell that involved using a plant called Hempfruit Grass, extracting its core essence, chanting incantations, adding Black Sheep Blood, and then making the person ingest it to cause numbness and loss of perception.

However, the magic book claimed it could transform a person into an unconscious state similar to a block of wood.

After briskly reading it, Ivita commented, "Early primitive magic apparently had not yet completely separated from medicine. The Hempfruit Grass must have originally contained anesthetic ingredients."

"And the latter effect is probably just the result of paralyzing the person’s body. It’s not that overly dramatic."

"But filling in gaps in my magic knowledge is always good."

Ivita stood up and casually pulled a book titled "The Witch’s Demise" from a shelf. After reading it swiftly, he found it only documented a witch’s journey of learning magic and being consumed by it.

Ivita utilized the Cloak of Destruction to float into mid-air. In this elevated position, he used the Hand of Mana to pick up twenty books, all opening simultaneously, their pages rustling.

Upon reading these books, Ivita knit his brows together.

"Is this the Great Library? It is quite disappointing."

After Ivita had gone through these twenty books, he found that they were all mundane missals. They were either primitive magic of a low level or biographies related to people from the Ancient Civilization.

These were practically useless in the modern world.

Only historians specializing in ancient history might find them valuable.

Defiant, Ivita once again used the Hand of Mana to extract fifty books from the stacks. As a possessor of Light Soul and Soul Heavenly Palace, his memory surpassed ordinary humans manifold.

With his powers, even perusing fifty magic-related books at once was possible.

"It still requires checking." Ivita reasoned, "Perhaps the high-level books in the Great Library are hidden amongst these chaotic, messy books. The Iron Crown guided me here, there must be a reason."

"Moreover, it appears that the Iron Crown didn’t just guide me. It seems that a member of the Sven Family was also led here."

As Ivita was engrossed in fiercely absorbing the contents of the books, he didn’t notice that the skeletal remains of the Sun God Sect follower he’d found in the corner had begun to move.

The skeletal hand slowly crawled to join with the arm, each bone returning to its original location autonomously.

Such behavior, resulting in fluctuations of mana and spirit, should not have escaped Ivita’s Light Soul. But Ivita’s light soul was dim and not radiating magical light, so he didn’t notice an undead creature forming behind him.

Ivita shook his head while simultaneously reading fifty books. Upon finishing them, he was even more disappointed because these fifty books offered nothing unique.

They were filled with mundane subject matter— secrets of successful magic, necessary confidence for spellcasters, biographies, folklore of magic.

For historians, the discovery of these books would probably cause immense joy.

Yet to him, these books held little value.

Ivita furrowed his brow, once again increasing the number of books he was set to read. He randomly selected one hundred books from different shelves, then used the Hand of Mana to simultaneously flip through all hundred books.

However, his reading speed greatly decreased as a result.

About half an hour later, Ivita managed to read most of the books. He knitted his brow and contemplated if all of these books failed to provide anything valuable...

Then the books in this place were essentially worthless.

Moreover, he noticed an issue that any layman could discern instantly. Only someone with considerable patience and attention could discover what he did over a prolonged time.

From the moment he arrived here, he hadn’t expended any mana.

No matter how many minor spells he cast.

If this happened to others, they would quickly realize the imbalance, akin to noticing a small cut on a finger.

The problem was, Ivita had unlimited mana, so for a long time, he did not pay careful attention to mana consumption.
