Chapter 744: Chapter 394: The Heir of Conqueror Shaw_1

The ’person’ in the well stopped talking. Then, suddenly, a violent sound erupted from within the well, as if some beast was rapidly running inside.

Miss Cap was the most frightened, "Let’s run away quickly, everyone, there’s a monster in this well!"

Knight Robinson, Barbarian God Shooter, the high-ranking Ranger and the face-saving Priest gathered around the mouth of the well, ready to face the imminent monster.

However, the sound of the monster only stayed near the edge of the well. Then, to everyone’s surprise, the dry well gradually filled with clear water.

At the same time, three stalks of grass rapidly grew on the dried edges of the well mouth. This grass emitted a faint glow, mysterious to the core.

The Hearthstone Witch exclaimed in Ivita’s ear. "It’s the Three Sisters Grass! Legend has it that deep in the desert, there grows a kind of grass. Each place where this grass grows, it sprouts three stalks at a time, hence the name Three Sisters Grass. Eating the first stalk would do nothing, it’s just like eating some common wild grass. But, if after consuming the first stalk, you eat the second one, it can heal all injuries. It could cure blindness and restore crippled limbs to their original state in an instant, making the body stronger than before. If one consumes the third stalk after this, all the previous effects would vanish."

"The person eating the third stalk of the Three Sisters Grass would acquire a special magic, the [Desert Oath], that allegedly can manipulate the divine powers of the desert."

"My lord, this is extremely rare, even unique material for magic. The records about the Three Sisters Grass were once deemed as a mere fantasy, the idle talk of travelers in the desert."

Instead, Ivita focused on something inside the well—an... uh... a half-grown blue cat. It was swimming in the well, its soft white belly facing upwards, using its tail as a propeller, letting it move gently on the water’s surface.

The little blue cat even burped.

"Congratulations. Since you didn’t pull me out of the well and only gave me food and water, you’ve only shown me kindness, not harm."

"So, I’ve decided not to eat you."

"In fact, I can even offer you some benefits."

The appearance of this cat, suddenly emerging from the well, invoked a sense of unease and suspicion among them.

Knight Robinson grunted. "A Dry Well Elf? Hmm, not the most advanced species of elves, but neither the lowest-level Jewelry Elf."

"So, you’ve been lying to us all along then?"

The little blue cat kept its gaze focussed on its own tail and said, "No, no, no, you guys got it all wrong. I’ve spent my entire life in this well. How could I know the stories that happened outside the well? The stories I told you earlier are all true, they all really occurred within this well, on the ground you’re standing on. Think about it, how could someone with gouged-out eyes live for long in the well?"

The little blue cat looked at Ivita. "Everything I told you previously, I heard it for real. I just don’t know what Black Death or Universal Law is. Is it serious? But it doesn’t concern me. My world is only this dry well. Regardless of how many tragedies happen elsewhere, it has nothing to do with me, I just have to guard this dry well."

Ivita figured it out, the little blue cat had obviously been trying to deceive them into trusting it and pulling it out of the well, just to then devour them.

This probably involved some kind of rule that the elves must abide by.

But if they only offered it food and water, and then exposed it, the little blue cat had to grant their wishes.

Ivita said to the little blue cat, "When the world crumbles, neither you nor this small well can escape."

"Let’s not talk about that, if we hadn’t given you bread and water and exposed you, what would you have done?"

The little blue cat sighed. "Then you guys would have had to fend for yourself, which would have made things easier for me."

"You guys were wrong before. To know the next direction to the Great Library, you don’t need to fill the well with water, but need my help."

"Now I give you three options. First, you can make a wish here, satisfying your own desires, and then I will disappear. You would not be able to find the path to the Great Library again. That place requires my guidance as it is protected by magic."

"Second, you can take the Three Sisters Grass and leave, and I will disappear."

"Third, you can ask me to tell you the location of the Ancient Great Library. However, I should remind you that a certain Great Library was built by the Ancient Civilization to record a specific part of knowledge. In other words, you have to bet that the classification inside this library is what you need."

"If you bet wrong, you will lose the opportunity to make a wish and the valuable Three Sisters Grass."

"Don’t even try to find out what kind of books are stored inside this Great Library from me because I don’t know. The best way to keep a secret is to not know it. Tell me, how can you ask a completely ignorant person for knowledge?"
