Chapter 728: Chapter 387: Dark Soul and Light Soul, the terrifying Book of Death_1
The Hearthstone Witch gazed at the Book of Death in Ivita’s hands, a gleam in her eye. She knew the potential consequences of such a magical item falling into the Dark Magic Forest.
It would definitely result in a bloody storm.
Once, an ordinary man unknowingly stumbled into a high-level witch’s treehouse in the forest and stole a glass bottle from it. Whoever’s name was called out, that person would be sucked into the bottle. This man used this powerful magic item to become a noble, even acquiring a small territory of his own.
Magic items created by high-level magic share a distinctive feature: anyone can use them.
This is a trait lacking in other magic items and spells.
Because high-level magic in itself embodies the caster’s inner self into an object, which contains a part of the source of magic power from the caster. With the acquisition of a Light Soul, this becomes even more apparent to the wizard.
As the Hearthstone Witch explained the details of high-level magic, Ivita who had been staring at the thick book in her hands, finally understood. The book was a form of an alternative external incarnation.
If her soul and body are destroyed in the future, she could use the Light Soul to shine on this book, revive within it and create a new magical race, perhaps called the Book of Death’s Spirit or something of the sort.
And it’s likely the same for other high-level witches.
Ivita reasoned, "For the past few days, I have been receiving reports from soldiers about witches continuously leaving Cross Island. I suspect these witches were the high-level and Great Witches who ’died’ in Blacktins Town that day."
The Hearthstone Witch nodded at Ivita, "Yes, indeed. High-level witches possess Light Souls, High-level magic, and Destiny Magic, so they can’t just easily die."
"Even desiring to die is rather difficult when one reaches the level of a high-level witch."
"Among all professionals, witches and wizards are the hardest to kill. After acquiring a Dark Soul with increased levels, it becomes even more so."
Ivita asked the Hearthstone Witch, "It seems that the Dark Soul is the key to becoming a noble wizard, so what is a Dark Soul?"
Upon hearing this, the Hearthstone Witch replied immediately, "The so-called Dark Soul is a type of soul related to the Light Soul. As one approaches the Witch Queen, the Dark Soul emerges as a necessity to withstand stronger magical powers."
"It is said that witches with Dark Souls can create experience and rationality, and logic. They can do things completely different from the idealistic Light Soul, but not materialistic. This is because the Dark Soul..."
"The nature and creation method of the Dark Soul is..."
Ivita looked at the Hearthstone Witch with confusion. The Hearthstone Witch was speaking and she could hear a sound, but she could not make out what the Hearthstone Witch was saying.
The Hearthstone Witch looked at Ivita with a puzzled look. "Your Highness, you rarely display such an expression of confusion towards me. What happened? Is there a problem with what I was saying?"
Ivita frowned, "Repeat what you said earlier, starting from the nature of the Dark Soul..."
Even though the Hearthstone Witch still felt confused, she repeated her explanation.
Ivita turned to the Dead Cow Great Wizard who had been eavesdropping on her conversation with the Hearthstone Witch, "Great Wizard, you heard the Hearthstone Witch speak. What are your thoughts?"
But the Dead Cow Great Wizard replied unhappily, "Master, I didn’t hear her say anything. I suppose it’s because I’m standing too far away, and I may not be in a good place to listen."
"So, you didn’t hear it clearly."
Ivita had a knowing look on her face. "Then come stand on my left. Hearthstone Witch, tell it again."
By now, the Hearthstone Witch also sensed something unusual, but still explained it all over again.
Ivita asked the Dead Cow Great Wizard, "Did you still not hear anything?"
The Dead Cow Great Wizard nodded nervously, "I probably couldn’t understand because my magic level is too low. Both you and the Lord Hearthstone Witch are high-level witches and wizards."
Ivita chuckled softly, "I didn’t hear anything either."
The Dead Cow Great Wizard looked surprised, "Even you did not hear anything?"
The Hearthstone Witch stomped her foot, "Damn it. I should have realized earlier that Hearthstone Castle had sealed the related knowledge. From my perspective, I had spoken three times already. I could hear my own voice, there was no problem."
"I found the information about the Dark Soul in the books of Hearthstone Castle."
"It seems the related knowledge can only be shared through books, it can’t be passed on by speech. Or else someone has secretly cursed me."
Ivita watched as the Hearthstone Witch closed her eyes and repeatedly used her internal Light Soul to check if she had been cursed.
Obviously, she was more suspicious of being cursed by someone from her Sect.
After a while, the Hearthstone Witch shook her head at Ivita, "It appears the old woman in the grave did not cast any relevant curse at me. That means the knowledge of the Dark Soul can only be spread and learned through specific means. Any means other than specific ones are invalid."
The Hearthstone Witch summoned her phantom carriage, grabbed some paper and a pen from within and began to write, then gave it to Ivita to read. Ivita, however, shook her head.
