Chapter 726: Chapter 386 Ancient Civilization and Iron Crown_1

Ivita frowned, finding it strange that a three-generation vampire of Lord Wilson’s stature could have come back from a visit to the Duchy of Lombardy in such a pitiful state, and become so cryptic.

Ivita stood up and said to Wilson, "What exactly happened? Explain clearly."

Wilson was about to speak, but abruptly collapsed onto the ground.

"Lord Wilson!" Butler Joe Joseph exclaimed in surprise.

The two servants behind Butler Joe Joseph were also terrified, not knowing why this was happening.

The Hearthstone Witch beside Ivita went over to examine the collapsed Wilson and said to Ivita, "He should be fine because he is a vampire, and a high-ranking one at that. But there is some kind of evil force in his body trying to kill him. His innate vampire ability to defy death is clashed with this force, causing Wilson to collapse into unconsciousness."

"I fear he managed to return to Upper City of Cross Island solely by willpower."

"After informing you about the situation in the Duchy of Lombardy, his spirit loosened, and he collapsed."

Ivita frowned.

If the current situation in the Duchy of Lombardy is so strange that even high-ranking vampires like Wilson will end up like this after visiting, then it wouldn’t be wise for me to march my troops there because it would cause heavy losses to my army.

What gives me relief, however, is that this isn’t necessarily bad news."

Because I don’t know if any of the current heirs to Lombardy’s Duchy override me in worldly power. Since no one can lead a large force into that country now, we can only send a small group of elite troops to infiltrate there and see what to do next."

Ivita said to the Hearthstone Witch, "Do you have any way to help Wilson recover?"

The Hearthstone Witch frowned. "I must first figure out what has gotten him into this state before I can figure out how to devise a magical potion for him. Even though I am a master of potions, I can’t heal him out of thin air."

Ivita tried to illuminate Wilson with her own Light Soul, but as she did so, Wilson’s body developed a large area of livor mortis.

The Hearthstone Witch promptly stopped Ivita. "Stop! You’re going to kill him, Your Majesty!"

Ivita looked at the Hearthstone Witch in bewilderment.

The Hearthstone Witch explained to Ivita, "Vampires differ from humans in that they exist almost entirely as a phenomenon and have almost no soul, unlike humans. Your Light Soul is completely opposed to the primal blood of vampire ancestors. Your Light Soul can, on the idealistic level, modify the physical laws almost arbitrarily, a power so great it is rare even in the history of magic. But while you can use your Light Soul to heal normal humans, it can’t heal the vampires.’"

Ivita clenched her fist.

She hadn’t expected that sending the most resilient person on her side to the Duchy of Lombardy would end this way.

Was the Black Death rampaging in that country?

But if it’s the Black Death, Wilson wouldn’t just be in a coma – he would likely be on the brink of death.

Seeing the anger on Ivita’s face, the Hearthstone Witch explained, "The Iron Crown is unique in its own way. The Emperor of the Holy Empire, who holds the universal law, uses a multitude of crowns to maintain his façade as the ruler of the universal empire. Among the hundreds of crowns, only four are the most important."

Butler Joe Joseph and the two servants left the study in silence, understanding that the forthcoming conversation between the Hearthstone Witch and Ivita was not their place to hear.

As a butler, he had a keen sense of what was happening and left the room without a second thought.

The Hearthstone Witch continued, "The first crown is the crown of the Emperor of the Holy Empire."

"The second crown is the King’s crown of the native land of the Gold Rose Empire."

"The third crown is the Iron Crown."

"The fourth crown is the crown of the King of Burgundy."

"The Emperor’s crown is not a title that refers to a time or place, or even a country. In principle, the Emperor’s crown designates the guardian and ruler of all human bodies."

The Hearthstone Witch said, "The Emperor claims that when they were given this crown by the Pope, they were granted the right to rule and protect all human beings, even though at least two-thirds of humans do not live under the rule of the Emperor, and the so-called protection is mostly a joke."

"But that is the legal principle."

"The peculiarity of the Iron Crown lies in the fact that the Iron Crown has ruled all the territories of the Boot Peninsula several times. Having the Iron Crown is, in name, becoming the secular protector of the Church. Of course, this has become a joke since the Iron Crown was lost from the hands of the Emperor. No one takes it seriously anymore."

The Hearthstone Witch said to Ivita, "Your Majesty, so no matter what happens in the Duchy of Lombardy, I wouldn’t find it extraordinary."

"It’s always been a mysterious place."

The Hearthstone Witch said to Ivita, "I’ve heard that there’s a coffin, loved by vampires, made from special materials. The coffin is made from rocks that have been soaked in fresh blood for at least ten years. It’s a magical coffin, and any vampire resting in it can recover their health automatically. This kind of coffin is known as the Vampire’s Coffin."
