Chapter 700: Chapter 374: Sea Spirit Witch and Tide Witch!_1

In order not to attract too much attention, Ivita only signed up Knight Kelmu for the knight tournament. In this way, she wouldn’t stand out because no one from her side participated in the games.

The next morning, they took their seats in the square arena temporarily renovated in the center of the town. Most of the seats were open-air, and eighteen neo-Silk and gem-embellished seats were haphazardly arranged on a temporary stage, this is where the two organizing parties asked the Earls and great pirates to sit.

Behind these eighteen seats, there was an even higher chair, which was meant for the Great Governor.

Unfortunately, the Great Governor had been killed due to a curse from a strange wizard, so that was a seat that was only meant for symbolic purposes; there was going to be no one sitting on it today.

As Ivita sat in her seat, she scanned the crowd of people standing underneath the wooden platform. Most of them were ruthless pirates. As for those sitting, they were mainly the subordinates of the two Earl organizers. They were not disarmed and each carried a weapon.

A heaviness fell upon Ivita’s heart. This tournament, despite being a competition amongst knights, was truly a desperate struggle between two forces.

Ivita swept her gaze over the seventeen surrounding seats. By now, most of these seats were filled with famous pirates, great earls of Cross Island who were all either blatantly or furtively assessing Ivita, the newcomer.

Ivita noticed Countess Milly Simich, whom she had encountered the previous day, was seated in the third seat to her left. The Countess tried her best not to look at Ivita, even when their eyes accidentally met, she immediately turned her head away.

It seemed that the Countess was still upset at Ivita for refusing her plea for an alliance yesterday.

Not dwelling on this, Ivita turned to Wilson and the Hearthstone Witch, and asked, "I hear that this round of tournament will be interesting. The rules are apparently non-existent?"

Wilson replied, "Yes, my lord. There are no rules in the knight tournament here. It’s a no-holds-barred fight where surrender or capitulation is not allowed. There are no restrictions on the types of weapons and methods of combat employed. It’s essentially a fight to the death."

Ivita furrowed her brows.

This contest was less a knight tournament and more of a gladiatorial spectacle.

It was not surprising, given that the organizers were nobles of pirate origin.

The Hearthstone Witch laughed heartily. "It’s going to be a good show."

"I enjoy watching others battle for their lives from a safe distance," she added.

Ivita looked at the Hearthstone Witch speechless.

Next, the earls, as the most prestigious among the many individuals present, seated on the high platform, began chatting amongst themselves. Some even tried to strike up a conversation with Ivita, in an attempt to win her over.

Ivita quietly noted their names -

Earl Dorn Reginald!

Earl Rafael Denton!

Earl Menol Rehman!

These men possessed strength at least equivalent to that of Level 3 knights. Ivita also noticed that these three earls seemed to be native noble earls, rather than of pirate descent.

In other words, the local nobles of Cross Island would prefer to join forces with Ivita rather than siding with the pirates.

Ivita engaged each of them in calm conversation, with the possibility of future collaborations in mind.

Suddenly, a bronze bell rang at the edge of the viewing stands, immediately drawing everyone’s attention.

Ivita saw a man in a thick, black and red robe, with a dark lord crown on his head. His feet were not touching the ground, but he floated towards the platform and stiffly took his seat on one of the two largest seats in the back row of seats reserved for the earls.

The man first looked around everyone, including all the visiting earls, then spoke softly. "It seems that everyone has arrived. This is good."

The way he spoke, as if the earls were not honored guests, but subordinates.

From Earl Denton who was sitting next to her, Ivita heard him whisper, "That’s Earl Rozlof of the Nightmare, he’s the ghost ship’s captain."

"He’s always been arrogant."

"But he is not to be trifled with. I heard that those killed by the Nightmare are forced to become ghosts on the ship, serving it for a hundred years. And they’re the kind of specters that have nightmares. But that only makes it worse, because on the Nightmare, you can only have the most terrifying dreams in the world."

"For this reason, no one dares to provoke Captain Rozlof directly."

Ivita observed this so-called captain of the ghost ship with her Spirit Vision, and she could see a strong magic power enveloping him, and an exceptionally wicked aura. He was unmistakably not a good individual.

’This wickedness is not just in thought.’ Ivita concluded. ’The Nightmare’s Captain Rozlof must have undergone some magical transformation that has made his spirit remarkably similar to that of the Lich Lord I’ve seen before. Only not as powerful.’

’He must have undergone some Undead Transformation. In other words, the captain of the Nightmare, Captain Rozlof is already a lich.’

’The Nightmare is not among the seven generations of legendary pirate ships. But I should not underestimate it. The life force of a lich is incredibly strong. Even if I could best him head-on, I could not be certain that I’d be able to finish him off. Moreover, his surrounding army is not to be trifled with.’
