Chapter 626: Chapter 345 Sword of Power_2
Due to the distance, the view through the Spirit Vision was not very clear.
The third eye on Ivita’s forehead, the Eye of the Demon, suddenly opened. Through the evil gaze of this eye, Ivita’s vision pierced through the Ice Castle located atop the cliff, seeing a massive spiral staircase constructed from ice at the center of the castle. Each step of the spiral staircase was meticulously made with precision, making her wonder about the skills of the artisan that carved this ice sculpture, their methods of taking measurements, and finding directions.
However, it was also possible that this was not the work of any mortal craftsman, but created by a force much more formidable and mysterious.
A regal throne was set upon the spiral staircase. The ice-carved throne was grand and elegant, resembling an exquisite crown turned upside down. Seated on this magnificent ice-carved throne, was an extremely beautiful woman.
Her eyes were tightly closed; her eyelashes quivered like butterfly wings; she had a slender figure, her expression was aloof — she was an incredibly beautiful woman.
Regrettably, her skin color was abnormal — a light blue shade.
This was not a color a living human could possess.
With the Eye of the Demon, Ivita coould tell that this creature was not a living human, but rather a corpse.
Thinking back to the voice of the Frog Princess that had whispered into her ear earlier, Ivita found it certain that this creature was the Fifth level witch which Frog Princess had encountered sixty years ago—The Great Lord of the Ice Lich!
A Fifth level High-Undead Lord Witch!
Ivita saw the woman, who had been sitting asleep upon the throne with her eyes tightly closed, suddenly open her eyes and look towards her.
This gaze seemed to cut through the distance between them, delivering a bone-chilling coldness that originated from the completely frozen land of death, an icy world where life doesn’t exist.
The soul palace within Ivita’s spiritual world, from the foundation to the dungeon, to the castle, and various treasures within it, the Soul Fireball, Witch’s Grindstone, Breath of Death God... were all working tirelessly to counter the gaze from the witch sitting on the throne.
Ivita was perspiring heavily, and Hearthstone Witch could feel that something was off.
Hellfire sparked in the Hearthstone Witch’s right hand and she quickly put her hand on Ivita’s back, using the Hellfire to warm her up, saying, "It’s the Fifth level Witch, the Witch Marquis’ Border Magic — Witch’s Eye Magic. This magic can ignore time and distance. As long as she can see, she can transmit her magic and attack her enemy through her vision, who in this case, is you."
"She’s using ice magic, and Hellfire can effectively counterbalance this type of magic."
With the robust help from her soul palace and the numerous treasures within, Ivita’s spiritual world was not sealed in ice. Plus, with the Hellfire from the Hearthstone Witch, Ivita quickly recovered from the assault she had just suffered.
Even though she was still a bit shaken, she looked far into the distance at the Ice Castle at the cliff with her Eye of the Demon, noticing the Lich witch that had opened her eyes earlier had now closed her eyes again, a helpless expression on her face. Along with this, the area around the Ice Witch was filled with steaming condensation, as if it was some kind of seal.
Ivita murmured to herself, "Transmitting magic through the gaze? If someone were to draw a portrait of me and she saw it, could she transmit her magic through the gaze in the portrait and cast a curse on me?"
The Hearthstone Witch breathed heavily and responded, "Yes, it’s possible. But the portrait would have to look exactly like you, any deviation, even the direction of a single beard hair could result in a fail. That is why many rulers do not appreciate artists who accurately capture their image on papers. They prefer those who don’t portray them as precisely, unintentionally beautifying them."
"We’re in trouble now. There’s a Fifth level Ice Lich in this disappeared territory."
"Although Liches are the weaker ones among the Fifth level witches, they still are of the Fifth level. I feel that we should retreat now, Your Highness."
Just as Ivita was about to speak, a fuzzy voice from the Frog Princess echoed in her ears once again.
"Please hurry, because my power is gradually weakening and I can’t withstand the pirates."
"Do not be afraid of the Ice Lich. The Ice Lich is sealed by the bubbling water of the Spring of Wisdom in the Divine Spring. As long as you don’t approach the castle, you won’t be attacked. But remember, do not let the Ice Lich open her eyes and make eye contact with you; otherwise, she can attack you with her gaze..."
"Brave intruders, the Ice Lich is already sealed. The way to kill her is with the Sword of the Hero, the Sword of Power, lodged in the Spring of Power."
"But the law of Cross Island has become too frail, the Sword of Power cannot kill the Ice Lich. Please go to ’Dragonbone Mountain’ three hundred meters to the north and kill the creature who is residing there — the fast-shooting, centaur-captain, Jack. He’s my father the Lizard King’s friend, the most loyal subordinate of Marco Anson. He took advantage of my father and led him to his ruin."
"Kill him and the centaur pirates around him, gain enough ritual power to enter the sword, and you can kill the Ice Witch, inheriting the potent ritual power on the Ice Witch. To kill others and seize their assets is the very rule these pirates established on our territory, and this rule is protected by... the Iron Crown Law."
"O brave one, please hurry, faster and faster, time is slipping away from us."
Ivita came back to his senses, exchanged a glance with the Hearthstone Witch, and stepped into the withered spring pool, gripping the Sword of Power in both hands. "It seems like this sword is key to dealing with that fifth-level witch."
The Hearthstone Witch said, "Even if everything the Frog Princess said is true, you’ve seen how perilous it is. Just catching a glimpse of her can spell disaster. If you were an ordinary wizard, you would be dead. It’s too dangerous."
Ivita remained silent.
But one must seek wealth and success amidst danger.
If he could obtain the ritual power from the Ice Witch, his Soul Palace would become stronger, and the Divine Spring seemed capable of enhancing one’s magical talents. In other words, he could use the recovering power of the Divine Spring to enhance the magical talents of his students.
Only in this way could they become formal wizards in the shortest possible time.
Only then could he promote to become a Great Wizard.
This is as crucial as gathering an Earl’s territory.
He previously couldn’t find the opportunity to do this, but now this missing territory has everything he needs to become a Great Wizard.
He must overcome this place, end the war that the Frog Princess has been fighting for the last sixty years.
’Clang~’
Ivita drew the Sword of Power. In an instant, Ivita felt something different about himself. First, he found the sunlight between the mountains brighter, and there was more warm aura in the forest leaves. It was as comfortable as the gentle, soft yellow sunlight in the afternoon.
He seemed to think more optimistically, and felt as if something had changed somewhere.
Using the Eye of the Demon on his forehead, Ivita sensed that his luck seemed to have improved a little, which was the result of him drawing the Sword of Power and gaining the hero status.
Furthermore, he felt he could control his body, skills, and magic better than before, thereby subtly but comprehensively improving his overall abilities.
Is this the benefit of being a hero?
Ivita casually waved the Sword of Power he held, and to his surprise, a faint blue glow emanated from the blade of the sword, and a beam of sword light appeared in front of him, cutting a huge trench into the ground.
The Hearthstone Witch heard the commotion and gave high praise to the sword in Ivita’s hand. "Unexpectedly, it’s really good."
The leech mermaid jumped up on the ground, upset, and shouted, "Had it been sixty years ago, you wouldn’t have been able to access the Sword of Power this easily! There were thousands of young knights who signed up, wanting to get the Sword of Power."
"Even those who have passed all levels, the last victorious one, had to pass the stringent test of the Sword of Power. If they failed the test, all their previous efforts would go in vain, and everything had to start again!"
"Do you understand, the Sword of Power is extremely sacred and noble!!"
Ivita merely hummed in response. Then, using the Sword of Power, he cut steps into the cliff, aiming to climb the hillside and go straight to the Dragonbone Mountain."
This idea came to him after seeing the spiral ice steps inside the Ice Castle.
The Leech Mermaid was practically fuming with rage to see Ivita using the Sword of Power as a carving tool for steps.
