Chapter 499: Chapter 295 Again, an Assassin! Shadow Spike! Gold’s Monetary Prayer!_1

Ivita lifted her head and used her Hand of Mana to create a repulsive anti-gravitational force, causing the concealed door leading to the first floor above her to spring open.

As soon as the door opened, Ivita saw an assassin dressed in a black robe chasing the Mermaid witch. His dagger was dripping with fresh blood, and the Mermaid witch’s back and belly were scarred with wounds inflicted by the very dagger.

But the Mermaid witch, after all, was a certified witch. The wounds on her body hissed, emitting white smoke, then rapidly healed.

Ivita wasn’t sure if this was her innate magic as a witch, or an inherent trait of her Mermaid clan.

Seeing that the dagger caused minimal damage to the Mermaid witch, the assassin instantly made a prayer-like gesture and began chanting, "I swear to money, I am loyal to money all my life, and I can do anything for money. Money is my only parent and sibling."

Suddenly, his body was enveloped with golden light patterns. These patterns constantly floated upwards from underneath his feet to above his head, causing the second-level professional assassin to be entirely shrouded in a golden brilliance. This glow not only enhanced his speed, strength, and responsiveness, but also coiled around the dagger in his hand.

The dagger was then entangled with shadows.

Ivita recognized it at a glance, that was a skill possessed by second-level assassins - Shadow Stab.

It was a power that augmented the defense penetration and attack power of the dagger by infusing it with shadow energy. Ivita now noticed something she had never perceived before.

The energy swirling around the Shadow Stab was like bone-attaching maggots. If injured by such a thing, healing would become exceedingly difficult.

This was an assassin from the Small Brotherhood of Trustworthiness.

An old acquaintance, it was unexpected to encounter an assassin from the Small Brotherhood in this pirate world.

Seeing Ivita emerge, the Coral Princess exclaimed with delight, "Brother, help me. I found an assassin."

Ivita was speechless. Just because you see me doesn’t mean you should shout out loud.

The Hearthstone Witch angrily retorted, "You discovered it? That’s how you define ’discovery’?"

Seeing Ivita in the corner of his eye, the assassin instantly had a cold expression. His assassination target was Ivita. This was an order relayed from the Valji Family headquarters and he was hired from the Brotherhood’s branch division in the Black Sea.

The assassin vanished on the spot.

The Assassin’s Shadow Step!

The next moment, Ivita felt a sense of danger coming from the shadow behind her. It was as if a person had jumped out of her shadow and was stabbing at her back.

Suddenly, a blue flower appeared next to the entrance of the basement.

The Hearthstone Witch laughed. It was an Heartache Flower she had planted earlier just in case.

But she couldn’t laugh the next moment, because another assassin emerged from the shadow of the first assailant who came out from Ivita’s shadow, aiming to deliver the final blow to Ivita.

In an instant, the Hearthstone Witch and Ivita realized that from the beginning, two second-level professional assassins had been assigned to kill him.

Only one assassin appeared from the beginning to end was because the second second-level assassin used the Shadow Step to hide in the shadow of his colleague all along, aiming to catch them by surprise at this moment.

The Heartache Flower was indeed undefendable, but it could only attack one person at a time. So the Heartache Flower attacked one of the assassins, but the other who had sworn the Oath of Money and used the Money’s Prayer, the Shadow Stab in his hand was still attacking Ivita.

The next moment, Ivita smirked. A Cloak of Destruction Magic flew up automatically from the basement, not only blocking the assassin from Ivita, but also attacking the assassin with the Sphere of Destruction Magic.

But the next moment, the assassin disappeared on the spot again, then emerged from another direction, he had translocated into the shadow in front of Ivita. He then attacked Ivita’s chest.

Ivita’s face changed slightly, snapped his fingers, the Cloak of Destruction Magic quickly abandoned the Sphere, leaving it in place, then flew backwards, draped over his shoulders. The opponent’s dagger, entwisted with shadows and prayers for money, was stopped by the Cloak of Destruction Magic. It produced an extremely harsh ’clang,’ like the sound of an elevator suddenly falling.

Ivita felt that even though there was the Cloak of Destruction Magic blocking, he still felt a chilling cold at his heart, and some residual energy hit him.

This made Ivita feel dizzy, discomfort, and a rapid heartbeat.

Ivita instantly assessed the situation, this guy’s attack power far surpassed a hunter of the same level’s burst damage efficiency. The power of the hunter’s Hunter Arrow, Gale Stab, Spiral Stab all fell short compared to the Shadow Stab.

And a Shadow Stab enhanced by Money’s Prayer could be comparable to Kristin’s Throttle at the second-level in the past.

The assassin’s burst damage capability should be among the highest among all professions.

Ivita was about to use the Fire Bird from her left eye to eliminate this guy, because assassins were physically weak and their defensive power was not as strong as hunters and knights.

But when he thought of doing so, the opponent used Shadow Step to penetrate into the world of shadows and shift his position again.

The speed of the Shadow Step was too fast.

Just as Ivita was struggling, a low voice appeared by his ear, the voice’s presumable owner was apparently very close to him.

"Tatagi Valji, the Family Head of the Valji Family, ordered me to kill you. Rest in peace, wizard."

Ivita immediately felt an icy feeling around his neck. He noticed that the assassin had somehow appeared in the shadow cast by the chandelier above him, hanging upside-down from the wall, with a cold dagger sliding down from above to target the carotid artery in his neck, bypassing the Cloak of Destruction.

This guy!

He’s not just a common assassin.

Ivita sensed enormous danger. In an instant, the Hand of Mana emerged behind him, grabbing the assassin’s throat before he could act. The power of the Emperor Star burst forth.

In a flash, a terrifying giant materialized at Ivita’s back. Another moment, and the stone slabs between the first and second floors had been pierced completely. The giant disappeared.

All that remained was the body of an assassin - strangled, face pallid, eyes wide open as if unable to accept his death.

Ivita turned and looked down at his body. "You were good," he said, "but not good enough."

He turned to the other assassin whose body was halfway consumed by the Sadness Flower. "Your mission failed. What type of assassin will the Small Brotherhood of Trustworthiness send next?"

The assassin replied with a bitter laugh and a shake of his head. "You’re too powerful. No one will come to assassinate you again. You have killed our third best assassin in the Transfer Port. He was the most powerful in the second rank. The first and second place assassins are third-rank, and they’ve all been hired by other families to go after different targets."

"It’s not that you are lucky, it’s just that our Brotherhood’s assassins are always busy. You wouldn’t be able to hire the best for such a time-critical mission."

"But I must warn you, keep going and you will die. Don’t underestimate Cross Island or the world of pirates. The Valji Family has someone backing them, someone you can’t afford to provoke!"

Ivita smiled. "Pity is, whoever owes me, no matter who they are, will have to pay."

The assassin was taken aback.

Suddenly, the Sadness Flower injected Sad Liquid into the assassin’s brain, sending him into a state of depression

The Hearthstone Witch appeared behind him, kicking him. "This guy is too disrespectful."

"Your Majesty, how should we deal with him?"

Ivita said, "Ask him who is the mysterious figure behind the Valji Family! Then, ask the Small Brotherhood of Trustworthiness whether they want to ransom him."

Ivita continued, "Let Wilson handle this. Accompany me this afternoon to visit the private waters of the Valji family."

"I want to see what kind of secret these Sea King Monsters hold. I also want to incorporate the Sea Monsters into my Dragon Palace Magic, further enhancing the power of my Dragon Palace Magic."

"This will aid our upcoming final battle with the Valji Family."

"Summon the Coral Princess as well."

The Hearthstone Witch immediately pointed at the Mermaid Witch. "Hold on, your Majesty! She’s a freeloader. What good would bringing her along do?"

Ivita asked the Mermaid Witch, "Do you know Healing Magic? I noticed the magic you used... in your battle against the assassin was quite unique."

The Mermaid Witch immediately responded, "Yes, Big Brother, that’s exactly right. Rather than Water Magic, I’m most proficient at Healing Magic."

"Earlier... I really am ashamed..."

She probably realized that her performance earlier was far from satisfactory and felt extremely guilty.

Ivita didn’t respond, but he did make a mental note to never have her on security detail. If there was a task to be done, somebody else should be appointed to monitor her.

She should always be in a team with someone else.

There was no other way, everyone had their own strengths and weaknesses. The Coral Princess was just not fit for solo assignments, the chance of her messing up was too great.

Ivita suddenly thought of Rayli. He was perfect for this, the Mermaid Witch wasn’t weak, she just wasn’t smart enough.

So, supervision didn’t require strength, just intelligence.

To Hearthstone Witch, Ivita commanded, "Call Juno Fowall and Alabi."

Hearthstone Witch nodded. "Your Majesty, the waters where Sea Monsters are born must contain extremely strong Water Magic energy. Bringing these two novices over will allow them to be imbued with Water Elemental Magic power. That would be very beneficial."

Ivita suggested, "In that case, my private waters may be very suitable for learning Water Magic in the future? Maybe I could even establish a private magic school there."

Dragon Palace Magic has already established itself as a unique system. It could be divided into smaller parts to teach to other witches and wizards.

When Ivita reaches the Great Wizard level, it would be even more feasible. After all, if he was able to train second-rank witches and wizards, he would be truly standing on his own in the magical world.
