Chapter 455: Chapter 273 - The Declaration of War from Cross Island 6353_4

"Hearthstone Witch, come take a look at this situation." Ivita held the Opportunity Compass and asked, "Are you sure there is only one girl on this ship with magical talent?"

"I’m certain." The Hearthstone Witch looked at Ivita in confusion. Whether someone had magical talent should be discernible with Spirit Vision, a magical talent would certainly reflect in a person’s spiritual aspects.

She leaned in to look; after seeing where the arrow on the Opportunity Compass pointed, her expression subtly changed.

The Hearthstone Witch looked up in surprise at the young maid, Alabi standing beside Juno Fowall.

"Have I made a mistake? No matter how I look at it, she seems no different from a normal human, even weaker than an average girl. Her spiritual aspect is unclear; it is even worse than that of a normal human. Even if she were to learn magic, there will be no progress in this lifetime."

"But this three-component compass directs itself to her ..."

"The three-component found aboard the pirate ship, that iron hook and chain, have it sent to our flagship, the Britannia." After putting away the compass, Ivita contemplated, "It’s very simple. I will take both girls on board as my students. As they learn magic, their varying talents will naturally unfold."

"After all, apprentices are disposable. Taking on one or two makes no difference." The Hearthstone Witch agreed.

"Seeing as the compass has singled out this ordinary girl, why not give her a scarce, rare opportunity in her ordinary life?"

"An opportunity equal to that of a girl from a rich family."

Alabi looked at Ivita and the Hearthstone Witch in confusion, "I... I can’t compare with..."

Anger flared within Juno Fowall as she stared at Alabi, feeling as if she’d been offended.

A mere maid’s daughter, only fit for the life of a servant, what gave her the right to receive the same treatment as her!

But, out of fear of Ivita, Juno dared not voice her thoughts.

...

Wilson found out that they had captured a pirate ship named Brandenburg, on it were three of the Type-1 pirate ship components, one Type-2, and one Type-3 pirate ship component.

The three Type-1 pirate ship components consisted of one piece of sperm whale skin sideboard and two pieces of boar skin sideboard. The former can enhance the durability of some ships, and the latter two can reduce the ship’s water resistance, increasing their sailing speed.

The Type-2 pirate ship component was a Dark Elf Sail. Made from a blend of Dark Elf skin and high-quality cloth.

This sail allowed the Brandenburg to increase its speed during nighttime sailing.

The Type-3 pirate ship component was a Seize-ship Iron Claw, a rare component for capturing ships at sea.

Its main component was a cannon that, when ignited, would shoot an iron claw with chains towards enemy ships.

There was also one piece of sperm whale skin sideboard on the smuggler ship owned by the Fulwar family.

This gave Ivita an understanding: these pirate ships were far from as simple as they seemed.

If they had come across a pirate fleet like they had before, with several Superior Knights on board, surely, they’d have found their ships to be full of pirate-ship components. These ships’ capacities would greatly surpass that of regular sailboats.

They would probably even rival the battleships of Earth’s recent and modern history.

No wonder sailors and captains of merchant ships dreaded the Cross Sea Area.

After capturing two ships, seven pirates, seven sailors from the smuggler’s ship, they captured another two-masted pirate ship in the afternoon. On board, they found three pirate apprentices and seven ordinary pirates.

Every time they saw a ship, they fired the Seize-ship Iron Claw, terrifying everyone who saw it.

Before long, Ivita and his crew commanded a fleet of four vessels.

As the evening set in, Ivita began contemplating teaching the two girls basic magic knowledge. Meanwhile, he supplemented his foundational knowledge, boosting the improvement of both students and teacher. Suddenly, a white dove flew overhead and banged its head on the crow’s nest of the Britannia, killing itself.

Ivita left his cabin, used the Hand of Mana to fetch the dove’s corpse from the crow’s nest, and was surprised to learn that the dove was a Magic Messenger Pigeon.

Who was sending him a message?

He took out the message from the pigeon’s leg and unfolded it to read what was written. The message read:

[This letter is from the Ambros Witch Cemetery and contains urgent information for Mister Ivita. I had previously bestowed upon you a Viscount’s Territory on Cross Island, a gift recently discovered by the smugglers who possess that territory, the Valji family, via divination. From a medium to small-sized black-market operator, the Valji smuggler family has significant power and a fleet in the Black Sea. They will not allow your approach to Cross Island, to stake your rightful claim. Please be careful of their maritime assault.]
