Chapter 404: Chapter 248 Hearthstone Witch Promoted! Shocking changes! Supernatural Hell under the Black Night Laws!_3
Before she could reach Ivita, there was a crackling thunderbolt from the clear sky. This thunder turned into a spear, instantly transforming the crow into a blaze of flames.
Next, a horned Thunder Snake sprang from his right eye, darting through hundreds of crows in the sky. In one fell swoop, it eliminated dozens of crows and managed to wound and repel the remaining Death Crows.
Ivita ordered the crew on board, saying, "Attack those birds."
Immediately, the warriors clashed swords with the resentful spirits masquerading as crows.
The hunters fired hunting arrows at the crows. The two knights, with their unique heritage of the Persopolis family’s Secret Medicine, were the fastest at reaping the Resentful Spirit Ravens. As the knights’ muscles swelled and a red aura of life-force swelled around them, the disguised spirits barely had a chance to get close before they were killed.
Wilson asked Ivita, "Just how many debts has the Hearthstone Witch incurred from the Supernatural Hell? The ravens just keep coming."
Watching this scene, Ivita guided the Thunder Snake into her right eye, and said speechlessly: "I do not know either."
"We might be overwhelmed by their numbers, but let’s hang in there."
"We will settle the score with her later!"
Ivita flicked a thunderbolt from her fingertip, striking a crow that was attempting to ambush a warrior from behind, turning the resentful spirit into black smoke and sending it back into the Supernatural Hell.
The warrior turned to Ivita, gratefully thanking her.
As the chaotic battle ensued on deck, the female ranger harnessed the energy of these resentful spirits, healing her wounded companions with her unique ranger abilities.
She mostly focused on aiding the innocent sailors who had been inadvertently swept up in this madness.
And those three sailors who had been secretly gossiping earlier were stunned after witnessing Ivita summon a hundred-meter-long Thunder Snake that managed to drive back hundreds of resentful spirits in an instant.
They suddenly realized that they had made a serious mistake. A fatal mistake.
These three second-rate sailors dared not make eye contact with anyone, and promptly retreated into the cabin out of fear.
Suddenly, the female ranger nimbly climbed up the 18-meter-high mast and shouted to the people on the deck: "There’s a pirate ship heading towards us—they are flying the flag with a Black Background White Skull and a dash of duck feather!"
Upon hearing this, Captain Sam, who was hiding in the cabin, instantly paled as he rushed out on to the deck to say to Ivita: "Boss, that’s the notorious Duck Feather Pirate Team. They are pirates from Cross Island; we are getting close to the Cross Sea here."
"We need to change our course immediately to avoid them, but the sailors are too afraid to go up onto the deck."
Ivita furrowed her brows, and shouted to the ranger on the lookout tower: "Use the telescope to see if there are any formidable characters on the other ship?"
After a while, the female ranger replied: "No, just a bunch of greenhorn pirates, a few attendants the strength of knights... Oh, there’s also a novice ranger. Such a disgrace to us, what a disgrace!"
Ivita said to Captain Sam: "That’s good. Let’s drop anchor. These resentful spirit ravens are not very powerful, a certified wizard is enough to resist them. But their numbers... they just keep coming and have become such a hindrance. It’s a good idea to let the pirates share some of our burdens."
Though hesitant, Captain Sam has no choice but to get a few sailors to drop anchor.
...
On the other side, aboard the Duck Feather Pirate Team’s ship, the first mate asked the Duck Feather Captain: "Do we really want to attack that ship? From the looks of it, that Caravel Merchant Ship seems to be floating a little too high in the water; it looks like there’s not much cargo aboard at all."
"And also, they just suddenly stopped moving. There are lots of Death Crows circling around them too."
The Duck Feather Captain revealed a confident smile. "It’s exactly because of all the Death Crows circling them that the ship is a sign of bad luck. The crows, transformed from sea spirits, are most sensitive to death."
"I guess, half of the people on that ship are already dead; it’s a bone that’s ripe for the picking."
"Our plundering in the past few months hasn’t been very profitable, we’re almost running at a loss. If things keep going like this, the lads below are going to turn against me. I don’t want to be exiled on a deserted island."
"Even mosquito meat is meat, let’s quickly feast on the mosquito meat over there. Even if each lad only earns a few shillings, it’s still a good take."
Looking at the merchant ship a few hundred meters away, Duck Feather Captain felt this could be an opportunity to get a small piece of meat.
He had no choice.
Even though a captain’s rule at sea is absolute, whether it’s sailors or pirates, they all have the right to band together and overthrew a captain who can’t bring them profit.
He has already felt some dissatisfaction towards him, so he had to seize every opportunity for profit that came his way.
