Chapter 393: Chapter 243 The Dust-covered Son of the Emperor_1
Two materialized arms had appeared behind Ivita, one on each side.
Between these two gigantic arms, the outline of an immense figure started to materialize, but the form of this giant faded away before it could fully manifest.
Ivita could feel that he was not maximizing the power of this magic yet. Only when he becomes a full-fledged wizard will the true power of this magic unfold.
The previously intangible Hand of Mana was evolving towards a physical form.
He wondered what it would become if it kept evolving.
The Carnation Fairy flew around the room once, then waved at Ivita and Governor Jack. "Goodbye, Mr. Ivita and Governor Jack."
"I’m very pleased to have met both of you today."
Then, her figure disappeared.
At the same time, the Dove Blood Ring on Ivita’s left finger rapidly dimmed and lost its color.
It had turned into a grey gemstone.
Ivita carefully removed the Dove Blood Ring and handed it to Governor Jack.
Governor Jack placed the ring back in its box. "Congratulations, Mr. Ivita."
"Your magic has advanced. After this situation is resolved, you should set out to sea as soon as possible. As for the ring, I will take care of it."
Ivita thanked him.
The governor was indeed a person of good character.
It seems that he was prepared to bear the responsibility for this matter, so he advised Ivita to leave the harbor quickly in case any complications arise.
Soon, the door to the reception room was opened and Colonel Norton, with a grim expression, whispered something in Governor Jack’s ear.
Suddenly, Governor Jack rose from his seat and scolded Colonel Norton. "How could you have agreed to such outrageous demands? You have fallen into their rhythm. The purpose of an envoy is to gain the most favorable outcome for us through negotiation."
"I am very disappointed in you."
Colonel Norton also looked upset. "Those damned pirates are incredibly obstinate. They’re just a bunch of pirates!"
"I..."
"The pirates have temporarily ceased their magical attacks on the people at the harbor, but if we do not meet their challenge in one hour, they will resume their attacks."
Governor Jack sighed and said, "There’s no other choice. I need to gather all the wealthy merchants, noble clans, and aristocrats in the hall of the Governor’s Mansion within an hour. They must send their offspring into battle."
Ivita was originally planning to leave. He did not intend to get involved in this matter.
This was the harbor’s own business.
After all, Black Friday represented a maritime catastrophe. He was reluctant to repeatedly attract attention and make enemies with that ship.
But as Governor Jack was planning to gather all the merchants and nobles inside the Governor’s Mansion, Ivita thought it would be interesting to stay and watch.
He had a favorable impression of the governor and it was unsafe for him to venture out to sea at the moment. The rest of the harbor was alsounsafe due to the presence of the Black Friday. The Governor’s Mansion, on the other hand, was heavily guarded.
Ivita said to Wilson, "Notify the Hearthstone Witch to come tot he Governor’s Mansion."
Since everyone was busy with their tasks, no one paid any attention to him. He was free to roam around the Governor’s Mansion.
Several lavishly dressed individuals entered the Governor’s Mansion, generally accompanied by their guards.
Ivita walked into a small garden within the Governor’s Mansion. The garden was designed with a bamboo forest, sandstone mountains, and a pond posing as an ocean, presenting a unique kind of beauty.
Ivita met a young man of similar age in the garden who had his back to him.
Although the young man was dressed in sumptuous clothes, he wore them in a sloppy manner, making the fine silk clothes look like pyjamas.
As Ivita approached, he suddenly turned, his eyes cold and cautious. "Who are you?"
"Why are you stepping so close to me?"
Ivita looked somewhat perplexed and took a step back. "Is there any benefit in standing close to you? Well then, I’ll take two steps back."
The young man in front of him was somewhat handsome, with a neat appearance, rosy lips, and white teeth, like someone who had been properly educated. Yet, he carried a certain arrogance and rebellion in his eyes, and showed hostility to anyone who approached him.
He laughed when he saw Ivita back away. "You’re acting like a child."
"I heard the servants here say that someone offered Asmoday’s gold to Governor Jack, and I guess it was you. I didn’t expect you to be around my age."
"Yes, you’ve done well. Now the pirates are issuing a military challenge to the Governor, limiting it to those under twenty years old. It’s an opportunity, an opportunity for my name to be remembered in the hearts of the inhabitants of this port."
Ivita detected a hint of superiority in his tone. "Are you the son of Governor Jack?"
The young man sized Ivita up. "If you told this to Jack, he would be terrified."
"However, I’ll excuse you, as you didn’t know."
"What’s your last name? Don’t you know who I am?"
Ivita frowned, "I have other matters to attend to, so I need to go."
Although he was not quite clear about the other party’s identity, he had no reason to engage in a deep conversation with him.
He had only come to watch the show.
No matter who won, the pirates or the townspeople, it wouldn’t have anything to do with him.
Even if the townspeople were defeated and the pirates demanded two thousand lives, he was confident that he could protect himself from being selected by the pirates.
As Ivita was about to exit through the Governor’s Mansion’s back door, he ended up running into the Hearthstone Witch and her crew entering the Mansion.
The Hearthstone Witch looked somewhat terrified, she had almost been cursed by the Black Friday curse when she was on the street. She told Ivita, "Your Majesty, ever since I secretly followed you from the Alsace Kingdom to the Viscount Ambrose Country, I’ve never encountered anything as dangerous as this."
"I truly felt like my life was at risk earlier. It was less dangerous when I was at the graveyard."
Ivita understood her meaning. She at least had the opportunity to escape from the graveyard, but this time, under the global attack of Black Friday, she felt her life was at risk.
Unexpectedly, it seems the Old Witch had been following him since he left Alsace.
She was on a hunt.
Ivita told the Hearthstone Witch, "My negotiation with the Governor was successful, and I received the fairy’s blessing."
"Once they complete their three duels with the pirates, and Black Friday sails away from the port, we can prepare to set sail. But now, you can have our newly recruited captain start looking for sailors and start preparing."
"Our duel has nothing to do with us."
The Hearthstone Witch pointed to the person behind Ivita. "Who’s that?"
When Ivita turned around, he found the young man he had encountered in the garden of the Governor’s Mansion standing right behind him.
The young man had an odd look on his face. "You escaped from Alsace? You...You’re not... You’re not... You’re not an Alsace, are you?"
Ivita’s face hardened, and a touch of hostility appeared in his eyes.
The young man continued, "Don’t get the wrong idea. Actually, I’m in a situation not unlike yours now, perhaps we could become friends. I’m merely a guest temporarily residing in the Governor’s Mansion."
"That said, I’m pretty much an orphan, but one that’s fostered by various noble families. I took meals with them, tolerating their disrespect."
"I’m your future Emperor, Mr. Alsace."
Ivita raised his eyebrows, a look of disbelief crossed his face. The Hearthstone Witch and the others were equally surprised.
