Chapter 371: Chapter 230 Ranger and Elf Professions, Two Strange Knights_1

In the afternoon, Ivita met with two hundred new guards who had arrived on the lawn outside the Old Baron Castle.

As the lord, he always had to meet with the new soldiers who came to his territory.

Otherwise, there would be a risk of his territory’s guards not knowing their lord.

Ignorance of the leader can lead to a risk of other people seizing power, and failing to follow orders.

After a few simple pleasantries, Ivita asked Knight Griffin to find someone to kill two adult sheep so as to provide a feast for the new soldiers.

This action was symbolic. If every time the lord met with his territory’s soldiers and they benefitted from it, they would inevitably admire their lord.

Watching the two hundred adult male soldiers making a racket, Ivita glanced at Knight Griffin.

Knight Griffin smiled. It seemed this dirty job must be done by him.

Knight Griffin yelled at the noisy crowd, silencing the soldiers present.

With a stern face, Griffin scolded the soldiers, "In the presence of the lord, you all must remain silent. Especially those who are unkempt. If this happens again, you will be forced to run twenty laps around the castle as punishment."

All the soldiers quieted down. There were obvious disgruntled looks in their eyes as they watched Knight Griffin, but no one dared to speak out.

Ivita pretended to reprimand Knight Griffin, saying, "Today is their first time meeting me, so it’s understandable if they’re a bit overexcited. You don’t need to be so harsh on them."

Knight Griffin immediately lowered his head in front of Ivita, "Yes, my lord."

"I admit I was too harsh."

Originally silent soldiers were now whispering amongst themselves. Everyone acknowledged Ivita as their lord, realizing who held authority over the castle.

Such a simple exchange established the authority of power.

Ivita glanced at Griffin and thought, ’job well done.’

Knight Griffin stifled a laugh, giving Ivita a look that said, ’these young guys are too easy to fool.’

Thus, Ivita now had around four hundred militia in his territory.

After meeting the newly arrived militia, Ivita immediately stepped into the castle, went to the second-floor reception room, and met with the professionals who have been recruited lately.

Ivita, Tartax, and Wilson walked into this room.

Just as Ivita walked into the room, he saw the professionals that Tartax had mentioned. They were divided into two groups inside the room.

One group consisted of two knights in armor who were silent and each holding a sword in their hands.

The other group consisted of warriors, rangers, and hunters, with this group of seven professionals engaged in pleasant conversation. They only quieted down when Ivita entered.

"Hello everyone, I am Ivita Augustus, the lord of this land."

Having gone through so much, Ivita’s tone had become calm and steady. He said with the aura of a leader, "It’s very fortunate that my territory has been able to recruit such excellent warriors as you."

"I believe Tartax has told you that the reason for recruiting you is because I plan to sail out to sea soon."

"So, please be ready to set sail within the next week. If any of you need to get your family members settled into my territory, please inform Tartax in advance. The same applies for any other reasonable requests."

Ivita paused to gauge everyone’s reaction.

Before coming, he had gone through the resumes of these people prepared by Tartax. They weren’t wanted criminals, but mere low-level professionals wandering from place to place in search of high pays due to poverty.

Except for the two knights with severe identity issues.

Ivita looked at the two knights, who maintained their silence.

Four warriors, a ranger, and two hunters all stood up.

Two hunters spoke to Ivita, "My lord, Miss Kristin recommended us. After she returned to Hunter Forest, we wanted her to recommend a suitable employer for us to earn a commission. She recommended us to come to you, saying you are a reliable lord."

"We have no other requirements, we are ready to set sail."

Ivita nodded at them. So they were recommended by Kristin. "What hunting skills do you have?"

Ivita wanted to understand the capabilities of these two apprentice hunters, as he couldn’t use Kristin’s standard to judge Ambros’ hunter professionals.

Kristin could be considered the most powerful hunter.

The two apprentice hunters scratched their heads, seemingly a bit embarrassed.

One apprentice hunter said, "My Lord Ivita, I know the basic hunting skills such as hunting arrow and tendon cutting. My name is Mo."

The other apprentice hunter said, "My Lord Ivita, my name is Carter. We are both immature hunters, so Miss Kristin recommended that we come to you because of your high safety standards."

Ivita was embarrassed.

Hunter Carter said, "I’m more skilled than Mo. I know the hunting arrow, tendon cutting, and Gale Step."

Hunter Carter noticed Ivita’s confusion and added, "We heard that you fought alongside Miss Kristin for a long time, so you must be very familiar with the professional skills of formal hunters and above."

"That’s why you don’t know much about the skills possessed by apprentice hunters."
