She nodded and stepped forward, then shielded her right eye. The odd black patterns appeared in her left eye and her pupil mechanically contracted and dilated.
This was her probe magic - The Eye of Exploration.
It could trace the origins of an object.
Hence, her specialization in this art made her terrible in all the other forms of magic.
Only the mass-producing wizard group of the graveyard could possibly accommodate such a witch, existing solely for others.
Someone from the wizard group worriedly said, "I think the vortex must have a limited capacity, there must be a few tanks of water stored behind it."
"Yeah... I think so too," replied a rather sleazy-looking young wizard apprentice with a large nose looking both indecent and foolish. "But that Ivita was able to incorporate such intriguing structure onto the fragile water elemental, she’s really a genius. No wonder our ancestors coveted her."
A witch sighed, "Even just summoning a pure water elemental is not easy."
"Who here could single-handedly kill an ordinary water elemental?"
"To be able to summon a water elemental minion at the apprentice stage signifies his strong talent for water magic."
"I hope Klauk and Ai’er discover the weakness of this water elemental soon."
"Then we can capture Ivita. Since she has put so much effort into water elemental, it implies that she must not be good at other magics."
One from the wizard group answered, "True. It took me eight years just to get my explosive curse to its current level."
"Our time is limited; we can’t cover all areas."
Ivita in the study was thoroughly bemused by their conversation.
While the old witch almost died laughing at their ignorance and stupidity, using their own progress to guess the world of a genius, how arrogant!
On the second-floor corridor, the wizard group was anxiously waiting for Ai’er’s exploration results.
Klauk struck match after match, magnifying all the flames, but the seawater emerging from the small vortex in the left chest of the water elemental showed no signs of drying up.
"...How much water does that vortex in the water elemental’s chest connect to?"
Klauk was struggling to maintain his flame magic; he could feel his magic power dwindling.
In the meanwhile, the entire corridor was filled with fog, and the passageway walls were scorched black by the flames.
Due to the steam, a fire did not breakout.
In his urgency, Klauk starts yelling at his girlfriend Ai’er, blaming her for the slow progress.
But he didn’t hear any response from Ai’er.
Baffled, Klauk turns his head and sees his girlfriend Ai’er, her face filled with fear. Her pupils were unfocused and her face had a blank look.
Ai’er looked at Klauk. "It has no end..."
"My vision pierced through the chest of the water elemental to a massive body of water, and that body of water... is endless."
"Klauk, you want to evaporate that body of water with flame... it’s ludicrous."
Klauk looked baffled, and the others in the wizard group were just as puzzled.
A young female from the wizard group confidently retorted, "How can there be no end?! What body of water could be limitless? I reckon that your vision was shrunken when it entered the vortex, it’s an illusion."
Ai’er turned her stiff neck, swallowed, and then made a guess that she herself couldn’t believe. "No, you don’t understand."
"I think that endless body of water... is the sea."
"Everyone, the vortex inside the water elemental is connected to a sea. If my guess is correct, then it must be immortal."
"Everyone..."
"We..."
"What kind of monster are we dealing with!"
The entire wizard group fell silent for a moment. The previously confident young witch looked as if she had been punched in the gut and was at a loss for words, standing still.
