Chapter 1050 - 536

Chapter 1050: Chapter 536

The election crown of the Holy Empire differed from ordinary crowns; it inherited the style of crowns from the early period of the ancient civilization, divided into two layers. The outer layer was a golden crown composed of the sacred number four, embedded with diamonds and various gemstones, while the inner layer was made of velvet and silk depicting roses and olive flowers.

In the oldest of times, crowns were merely decorative items made from cloth strips or flowers.

The entire election crown was enveloped in divine radiance, inspiring reverence in all who beheld it.

Ivita received the crown from the hands of the Sixteen-winged Firestone Angel and donned it within the gaze of all the nobles.

Instantly, the Duke of Pulphaz turned his head away, tightly closing his eyes, as if regretting his actions.

The Electors, however, displayed various expressions.

The regular nobles and leaders of the allied races mostly showed joy, for the Empire could not exist without an Emperor; otherwise, order would vanish.

At the moment Ivita put on the election crown, a sacred number four appeared on the back of his right hand and quickly vanished, while a divine light appeared at his brow and continued to circulate indefinitely; this was the universal Law’s divine protection for Ivita.

This signified that Ivita had become the earthly embodiment of the universal Law: Divine, and his will, to a certain extent, could represent the will of the universal Law.

He could be said to be the god-man chosen by the universal Law: Divine.

Meanwhile, Ivita’s consciousness, following a point of brilliance on his forehead, seemed to traverse the boundless universe, overlooking the Black Magic Forest Continent, seeing myriad creatures, and observing an Empire standing tall like a mountain among them.

Numerous small nations surrounded this Empire.

Ivita furrowed his brows, as most of these small nations had broken off from the Empire, this mountain, and the protective divine light also seemed flawed, no longer invincible.

No longer truly universal.

Beyond the illusion of this mountain, there were other mountains that seemingly threatened the Empire, aiming to crush it.

"That’s the national Law of the Frankish nation," Ivita surveyed the Empire. "The foundations of the Empire have already been shaken by nationalistic sentiments."

"Nations based on universal concepts are bound to be wounded by nationalist states, something I had anticipated, but the damage is severe. The Frankish troops within the Empire must be withdrawn soon."

Ivita returned to his senses, back inside the Imperial Parliament Hall, and addressed the Electors and the noble and allied race leaders, "Gentlemen, now that I am elected Emperor, I will protect your interests."

"Our first enemy is the Frankish people. We need a stable army to defeat our opponent."

The nobles immediately began whispering among themselves.

The Elector from the Saxon Kingdom coughed and said to Ivita, "Your Majesty, now that you have been elected Emperor, you should go to the church to be crowned again, and also be crowned in the capital of the Empire. As for conscription, I think we need to discuss it more because Oyo III had already conducted conscription for the Empire."

"Did it go well? No, it did not. Now the Frankish people are attacking our nations; each country would rather protect itself."

Ivita glanced at the Hearthstone Witch, knowing that as the newly appointed Emperor, he could not devalue his own authority, sometimes one needs others to speak for them.

The Hearthstone Witch immediately grasped the intent, straightened up, and said, "Fighting separately means being defeated separately! What’s the point in that? You might as well surrender to the Frankish people, oh by the way, I remember the Frankish are not fond of nobility, so even if you surrender, you’d probably be worse off than the commoners."

Her sharp words immediately pierced through the nobles’ thoughts.

The nobles began to panic.

Ivita knew the greatest issue lay with the Electors. "The Hearthstone Witch makes a good point, how do you Electors see this?"

The three religious Electors advanced and withdrew together, since they were not secular nobles; the Archbishop of Mainz smiled at Ivita, "Your Majesty, our three archbishoprics all support you."

"We are prepared to contribute financially."

"After all, we are monks who have dedicated our lives to the God of All Things and are not suited for killing; we can only do what is within our power, which is to collect your taxes and preside over the Parliament."

The three countries of the Electors were actually located in the west.

Thus, they were also anxious; if not for their lack of military forces and their relative incompetence in warfare, they would have already joined forces with Ivita to combat the tradition-defying Frankish people.

"That will suffice. Indeed, as archbishops, you are not adept in leading troops; rest assured, archbishops. Leave the prayers to you, the army to me, as long as you can ensure sufficient military funds are collected," Ivita looked toward the Duke of Pulphaz. "What about the Duke? Renowned for being mighty in battle, you seemed eager to be Emperor just now, with such prowess, you ought to bear more responsibilities."

The Duke of Pulphaz frowned. "Your Majesty, how much responsibility should a small country like ours bear?"

Ivita quickly responded, "Standard operation - the Duchy of Pulphaz and the Empire’s three major kingdoms all need to deploy over fifteen thousand troops, I will lead thirty thousand, and the regular imperial nobles can provide three hundred troops, or use taxes in place."
