Chapter 462: Bad news

"I heard rumours that they escaped to Heliosa," Callista informed Eleanor. They were in the queen’s study. Callista came to inform Eleanor about her recent findings.

Abrielle and Cedric fled to Heliosa, which was going to be a major issue for them. Draconia and Heliosa didn’t have a stable diplomatic relationship and not to forget that annoying crown prince.

Eleanor dropped the book she was going through containing details about Kaiden’s funeral. She sighed. A headache throbbed in her head.

"That will be a serious issue, Cedric might earn their support," Eleanor mentioned. Due to the distance between Draconia and Heliosa information didn’t exchange in real time. Eleanor and Callista were unaware of the fact that Abrielle had been recognised as a Heliosian princess.

"We can’t let him come between Lucian’s succession. Kaiden’s funeral will go as planned and Lucian’s succession would be sped up." Eleanor stated. Callista nodded in agreement.

Eleanor’s eyes fell on Callista. She didn’t like Callista as a good match for Lucian at first. Things had changed; she was now a Nightshade, and Eleanor saw something that others didn’t see in Callista.

She will be the perfect candidate to stand beside her only son. Lucian was like a shining light who refused to accept the darkness around, but with Callista, she is assured he would be fine

"How is Lucian doing these days?" Eleanor asked.

"He has been doing well. He spends most of his days training." She answered then paused.

"Your majesty, I wonder, do you plan on honouring Lucian’s agreement with Alfonso? Keeping Alfonso alive is leaving a potential threat. " Callista asked. Alfonso and Lucian got into an unexpected alliance which didn’t put Callista at peace.

"Lucian is smart enough to make decisions like that. Remember your place. He is the one who will rule, and not you. All a queen does is support." Those were Eleanor’s words before she excused Callista out of the study.

Callista’s footsteps echoed as she ventured down the busy hallway of the palace. The palace was buzzing with arrangements being made for Kaiden’s funeral.

A butterfly flew past Callista. Its colour changed for a split second, and then it flew away. At that moment her eyes turned dark, and she understood the message. It was an emergency summons.

Callista took a detour walking to a quiet area of the palace. When she made sure she was alone, she muttered an incantation and a rune appeared before her..

She stepped on the rune and disappeared with a blinding light, unaware of the gaze that caught her in the last moment before she disappeared.

Alfonso’s brows furrowed, sensing something amidst.

Candles flickered, the wind howled through the open window. The room was eerie and dark despite the sun still being up.

A blinding light appeared, and Callista materialised in the room. She walked towards a wardrobe and pulled out a robe, which she wore to cover her face before she stepped outside the room.

At the entrance, another hooded figure was waiting for her. The hooded figure bowed, acknowledging her presence as their leader.

"Why was I summoned?" She asked. This was the secret temple and one of the bases of the ladies of the moon. A murderous cult who were behind the death of Hope and Abrielle’s kidnapping

They were also Callista’s biggest support. She was the youngest in history to be their leader.

"A message just arrived from Heliosa which I think would be of importance to you." The hooded figure explained. Callista was led to another room, which seemed like a garden filled with butterflies, the same one Callista came across earlier.

In the middle of the room was a girl unconscious on an altar. She has similar features to Abrielle but was a far cry from the original.

She was the look-alike Callista had been using in place of Abrielle for her scheme. When Abrielle’s abduction failed, the ladies of the moon kidnapped a double, thinking Callista was not going to know the difference..

Callista circled the altar checking the double’s condition. The double had lost value to her since Abrielle was away. She just had to find a way to force them out of Heliosa, but before that, she had to take care of the sorcerers.

Callista could get rid of the sorcerers that were the original villains of the story, just like the original plot, but they weren’t of much importance to her in this reality. That’s why she hadn’t done much about them, but still, they were a nuisance.

At the corner of the room stood a mirror. Callista approached; she placed her hand on the mirror, and the surface rippled. Soon, his reflection got replaced by the images of another hooded figure.

"I heard you have an important message for me," Callista said. The hooded figure’s face was hidden under the hood, just like Callista’s, with only a glimpse of her mouth exposed.

"I have grave news to share." The hooded figure said, and Callista’s demeanour changed. The room went cold with frost forming on every surface, and the butterflies froze in the air.

"Don’t tell me you failed the assignment I gave you." She said, The hooded figure who was far away across space trembled from the pressure of Callista’s presence.

"I failed to force Cedric out of Heliosa as instructed but I came bearing worse news." The hooded figure hesitantly said, Callista’s eyes glimmered. What could be worse than failing to get Cedric out of Heliosa?

How was she going to get rid of that villain if he continued to hide in Heliosa? Her fist clenched; she didn’t have a choice but to get rid of the darkness.

"What can be worse than your failure?" Callista spat.

"The first prince consort is the eldest princess of Heliosa." The hooded figure answered. Callista’s fingers curled up, That was impossible.

Abrielle was the daughter of a slave.

"Are you certain of what you say?" She asked to confirm.

"Her identity was confirmed before the court. Without a doubt, she carries the Caephyr’s blood." The hooded figure explained.

Callista turned around and pulled down her hood. A shaky breath escaped her lips. "We have to get rid of her before she becomes a bigger threat. It will be harder now of course."
