Chapter 992: Volume 32 Dark Clouds Gather Chapter 10 A Crushing Blow

The pace of the Attica Knights had increased continuously, so their formation began to show a slight disorder. However, in terms of momentum, they still maintained absolute initiative and advantage. They kept closing in and striking from both sides, then tearing through and breaking the enemy lines, attempting to utterly defeat the Homer Knights before they could escape.

The Homer Knights proved to be remarkably resilient. Though they fought while in retreat, their formation remained intact. The way they maintained a teasing distance was particularly frustrating for the Attica Knights, who could not land the finishing blow. At the most crucial moments, the Homer Knights would deftly accelerate to break away, leaving the Attica Knights’ efforts in vain—a fact that made Viscount Basman wish he could personally charge to the front to bite into those fleeing Homer Knights.

The two sides chased and battled across the plains, and due to the intensity of the conflict, the battle slowly extended backward, moving away from the established battlefield on the plain to the edges of a gently undulating slope. The following Attica Cavalrymen, however, remained remarkably restrained. Although they followed closely behind the Knights, aside from remaining on alert, they hardly took part in the actual fighting, perhaps believing that the Knights could resolve the battle on their own without competing for glory.

Baoling’s gaze followed the shifting battle line until the target had entered the predetermined area, and only then did he nonchalantly signal to the flag bearer beside him.

The Magician Team, which had been hidden in the waiting area, now silently emerged from their covert position in the gentle slope’s brushwood. Their invisibility, courtesy of Space Magic, kept the Attica Knights and Cavalry completely unaware of the Magicians lurking there, setting the stage for the cavalry to pay a heavy price for their negligence and oversight.

Rumbles of Yin Thunder rolled across the sky, which seemed to grow dark all at once. Accompanied by the formidable figure of the Thunder God manifesting amidst the dense clouds, a piercing howl swept over the low slopes, rapidly transforming into tangible Wind Blades that streaked across the wilderness.

This was the lavish feast Baoling had prepared for the Attica Knights: a combination of Thunder Magic’s Hammer of Thor and Wind Magic’s Wind Blade rapidly succeeding one another. The ferocious Hammer of Thor, mingled with golden lightning, struck down from above the Attica Knights’ heads, entwining countless arcs of golden electricity and dark thunder forces, creating spatial power fields that swept mercilessly toward the Attica Knights.

At that moment, the Attica Knights’ Anti-magic Cloaks and Armor became their optimal protection against the magic onslaught. The fierce Thunder Element Power within the spatial fields and the tangible Wind Blades of the Wind System became the knights’ most significant threats. The Wind Blades, carrying enough power to shatter ice and stone, whirled wildly across the battlefield. The knights had already forgotten their enemies at the front, having likely never experienced a battle of such magnitude. The true power of the Magicians was without a doubt displayed at this time.

Viscount Basman, nearly driven to rage-induced hemorrhage at this point, finally understood the damn Homer Knights’ cunning plot. They had already laid an ambush of Magicians in the nearby hills and brushwoods. Although these Magicians couldn’t be the true deciding factor, this move was an unavoidable blow to the morale of the entire knight force. The severe negative repercussions of this heavy strike were quite brutal, and the Attica Knights had yet to find an appropriate solution.

Viscount Basman could only grit his teeth and order the Attica Knights to scatter and dodge the furious magic bombardment. At this moment, he could no longer care about much else. Although the knights had undergone specific anti-magic combat training, that was done in training, and this was a true baptism of magic. The opponent would certainly not give the knights any preparation time. How to dodge and withstand the magic attack would now be up to the knights’ respective fortunes.

The fierce Hammer of Thor erupted continuously. Black clouds rolled and surged with serpentine lightning, rising and falling abruptly, while the shrieking wind beneath the clouds was even more chilling. Silver-gray, semi-transparent, irregular Wind Blades whirled in the air, cutting through it, and there were constant drops of blood and shreds of broken armor flying through the air.

Caught off guard, the Attica Knights fell into a state of panic. They had never imagined that the opponent would have magicians ambushed within the shrubbery of this gentle slope. And judging by the intensity of the magic attacks, there had to be at least six or seven magicians involved; three to five magicians simply couldn’t mobilize such enormous Mixed Magic.

Enger almost crushed his teeth, seeing that the Homer Knights were on the verge of collapse. He hadn’t expected such a treacherous trick. The magicians had suddenly reverted the Attica Knights to their original state. At this point, the Homer Knights who had a moment to breathe were even beginning to regroup and showed signs of a counterattack. Without timely aid from reinforcements, it would be a minor issue if they just failed to achieve full success, but they might also end up endangering the entire Attica Knights.

"Sir Gray, please immediately command General Yale’s cavalry to strike. Magic attacks aren’t scary, our knights and cavalry have all undergone anti-magic training, such magic attacks count for nothing. We must seize the opportunity now to crush the main force of the Homer Knight Order at one stroke. Once we break the Homer Knights’ main force, these magicians and those Half-Beastmen and Barbarians will be chicken and dogs, unable to stand a single blow!"

Enger urged Sir Gray without delay. Basman had left him with Sir Gray to prevent Sir Gray from being swayed by that fellow, Yale. Sir Gray was all right, except that he was too easily influenced by others, something both Yale and Basman understood clearly.

"Uh, General Yale, are your cavalry ready? The enemy has ambush magicians, are you confident?" Sir Gray, too, realized that the Knights were in peril. He dearly hoped Yale could rescue Basman and the others, but not at the expense of the entire Army.

Yale hesitated. Even during the sudden magic attack launched by the opponent’s mages, he remained calm. To be precise, he had anticipated that these haughty knights would receive a profound lesson, a Magic baptism which was only logical. If these ignorant fools weren’t taught a harsh lesson, there’d be no justice in the world.

However, the most dangerous enemies had yet to appear. Their Half-beastman Army and Barbarian Army had not shown themselves, and the Scouts hadn’t brought back reliable information, making him ponder deeply before acting.
