Chapter 947: Volume 30: The Beginning of the Empire, Chapter 18: The Sinister Plan

"Star Falls?!" a surprised shout came from the masked lady, and Komer too was taken aback. He hadn’t expected that his rare use of Star Magic would be recognized by someone in the Southern Mediterranean, could this woman be the so-called Saint Lily Klepper? Rumors said her martial arts were unmatched, but it seemed that wasn’t entirely the case; at least her knowledge of magic wasn’t something ordinary people could match.

However, for Kaiserlon, who was hovering in the air, this was utterly useless. Like a waterfall plunging from the sky, laden with the overwhelming mana of magic, it came slashing diagonally towards him. Shocked, Kaiserlon had no choice but to release his incomplete Fighting Qi forcefully. The silvery mist and the azure light screen collided thunderously. Kaiserlon felt as if his entire body had been struck head-on by a hammer, the immense trembling force causing his chest to feel tight. If it were not for the rebound, he would have likely sustained internal injuries, but this made it impossible for him to stand in the air. If not for a streak of Green Sword Qi quietly coming from behind and sweeping under his feet, he feared he would fall into the sea right then and there.

Using the swinging force of that Sword Qi, Kaiserlon executed a masterful sideways flip in the air. At this point, he dared not be reckless anymore; his opponent was at least an Archmage-level powerhouse. To act hastily would only bring him disgrace. If earlier it could be chalked up to underestimating the enemy, making a fool of himself again would surely tarnish his image in Miss Helena’s eyes.

Even Komer had to admit that this guy indeed had some admirable qualities. A spinning flip, even in such a dire situation, allowed him to return to his ship with grace and ease, making the previous moment seem like a trivial interlude. And that Green Sword Qi provided by Saint Helena from behind, was it the legendary Green River Sword Qi?

"Who goes there, declare your name!" As soon as Kaiserlon landed, his Fighting Qi burst forth, immediately elevating it to its highest outward-bound state. The explosive release of Fighting Qi caused his clothes to flutter, and the knight’s sword in his hand held straight and steady, the flickering sword light under the stimulation of the Fighting Qi extended three feet away, the disciple of the Sword Saint clearly had been provoked by Komer’s previous move.

"Hehe, can a Sir Knight simply inquire about our identities at will? If you were a Judicial Officer or part of the coast guard, I would certainly obey your command, but I seem to miss the enforcement insignia on you and your ship, so please forgive my refusal," Komer cheekily retorted, taking this opportunity to gauge the level of this disciple of the Sword Saint. So dominant and arrogant, he did not seem like a blessing for the Southern Mediterranean.

Klepper’s deep gaze lingered on Komer’s face. This guy clearly knew who they were, yet he dared to provoke them so openly. Could he be a man with a purpose? From Corinth or perhaps Patre? Or maybe one of Katrina’s?

"Sir, please do not overstep your bounds. Mr. Kaiserlon is the Chief of the Sparta Royal Knight Guard, and I believe he has the right to check your identity." Even Helena seemed somewhat angered now. Who in the Southern Mediterranean dared to disregard their identities like this?

"Saintess Miss Helena, in the Olympus Temple you are an inviolable saint, but are you also so unreasonable in the secular world? Does Sparta’s law grant you the power to speak untruths? Royal Guards? Have we, by sailing these seas, somehow threatened King Cyrus’s dignity, or harmed Prince Slupig’s interests? I can’t see it. Could Miss Helena please clarify?"

Komer’s mocking gaze had already passed the slightly pale-faced Kaiserlon and landed on the wide-eyed Helena, anger flickering across her fair, jade-like cheeks. Her long and elegant neck, unadorned by any jewelry, along with her slightly conservative priestess robe, left Komer somewhat disappointed as he wished to glimpse more of her front view, yet everything else about her was just perfect.

Komer’s sharp retort left Helena and Kaiserlon temporarily at a loss for words. Conventions do not equate to law, especially in the Southern Mediterranean where the law is respected. Given the uncertain situations in the region currently, despite their superior martial skills, Kaiserlon and Helena did not dare provoke anything thoughtlessly, as they still had the interests of the Kingdom of Sparta at heart.

"Since you seem to know so much about us, sir, it appears that you must be our friend. Why not come aboard and have a seat?" Klepper finally spoke after a long silence.

Komer’s gaze fell on Klepper’s veil. This guy reportedly had a mysterious affair with Zellin, a love doomed by their status and position. Probably not even Zellin expected that this deeply resentful Saint Lily would steal his daughter after so many years. Komer was indeed eager to have a long conversation with Saint Lily Klepper, to delve into the myriad of sorrows and pains hidden in her heart.

"Hehe, with an invitation from Saint Lily Klepper, it seems I cannot refuse." Komer stood up and walked to the ship’s rail; in the eyes of all, he proudly stepped forward, as if walking through clouds, covering the distance of ten feet as if it were mere steps, gracefully passing by.

"Wind Controlling Technique?" Klepper was shocked again, even the veil she was wearing could not help but ripple. Achieving such a pinnacle of Wind Magic required not only profound mastery of Wind Magic but also high demands on Magic Power, yet this guy didn’t look like he was over thirty. Even if he had practiced magic from a young age, it seemed unlikely that he could possess such formidable power.

"Hehe, I hadn’t thought that Miss Klepper was not only peerless in swordsmanship, but also so broadly knowledgeable about magic. Since we are friends, would Miss Klepper hesitate to show her true face?"

Komer arrived with his hands behind his back and stood firmly at the bow of their ship, his imposing aura confronting them head-on, causing Kaiserlon and Helena to be filled with suspense and doubt. Who was this divine figure? There seemed to have never been such a person in the Southern Mediterranean—so young and yet so obscure.

"How dare you!" Despite the confusion within Kaiserlon and Helena, Komer’s audacious words infuriated them. Kaiserlon’s hand glowed with a sword qi that surged upward. emitting a low, deep screech from the silvery-white light.

"Kaiserlon, Helena, don’t be impulsive!"

Klepper’s gaze settled on Komer, her calm eyes steady as water. Her veil fluttered gently from bottom to top as if a wave of air swept through, inexplicably flipping upwards, as if it had always been on her head, "Mr. Komer, are you satisfied now?"

"Komer?! The Nicosian Komer?!" Only then did Kaiserlon and Helena come to a sudden realization. No wonder he was so assertive. Surprised yet filled with rage, they exclaimed, "Mr. Komer, is it customary for all Nicosians to be this rude?"

"Kaiserlon, did Aristotle teach you to treat guests in such a manner?" Komer’s face suddenly darkened, "Even if your master were here, he would not dare to be so disrespectful. Strength is not proven by force but should be used to conquer the world with tolerance. If you still don’t understand this, I suggest you go back to your master and cultivate properly under his guidance."

A mysterious glint flashed in Helena’s eyes, causing an inexplicable worry in Klepper’s eyes as she observed her.

Silenced by Komer’s righteous words and unable to retort as the mention of his master overwhelmed him, Kaiserlon looked as if he truly was on equal standing with his own master. He had never felt so stifled as he did today, especially in front of Helena. With his cheeks red and beaded with sweat, his three-foot sword flashed fiercely, yet he dared not act. For a moment, Kaiserlon wished he could dive into the sea.

"Mr. Komer, you didn’t come to our Southern Mediterranean to quarrel with them, did you?" A sweet smile emerged on Klepper’s round and delicate face, her eyes clearly inquiring.

"Miss Klepper, of course not. I have many properties in the Southern Mediterranean, like my Crystal Castle and Kapok Castle, and also Xifnos Island. I believe my visit has not harmed anyone’s interests, right?" Komer’s gaze shifted, then rested on Helena’s face, "Miss Helena, you remarkably resemble a friend’s daughter of mine, truly surprising. Although their temperaments are entirely different, their appearances are so similar."

After a sudden change in expression, Klepper regained her composure, "Mr. Komer really knows how to joke, but in this vast world, it’s not unusual to find people who look similar, right? Mr. Komer, why not visit Athens as well? King Cyrus is very hospitable."

Komer sneered inwardly. This woman quickly changed the topic without even asking who Helena resembled, clearly indicative of her guilty conscience. It seemed that his guess might be correct; such means of revenge were indeed unthinkable.

"Is Miss Klepper extending this invitation on behalf of King Cyrus? If I have the time, I will visit," Komer smiled slightly, his smile tinged with a sinister edge. Good, this trip to Patre wasn’t in vain—coming across such an opportunity. It seems Klepper cares deeply about Helena, whom she raised herself. I wonder if this could be utilized somehow?
